Big Springs, Missouri

These are some pics from Big Springs, Missouri. one of the biggest natural springs in the USA. totally gorgeous. worth the trip if you are in the area. We were intrigued by the possibilities of it being the "Waters of Mormon". whether that is true or not, i do not know, but it was beautiful, none the less. And, being only 1 - 1 1/2 hours from my parents house, worth the little side trip to Van Buren, Mo. where it is located by. Unfortunately, none of the tourist shops were open, so no postcards, or tshirts or anything. Due to the eco-habitat, or whatever the jargin is, we could not go into the water--oh ya, fragile eco system or something like that. I am sure that if people were allowed in, it would be trashed, and not beautiful, and clear, but we wanted to go in so bad......

Miss Marin looking over the bridge

Miss Emmaline
Miss Sophie.

Looking up towards the spring from the bridge. see that big tree on the bank on the left?? totally cool tree, and huge!
Marin and Piper got in a little bit. I figured they could not throw them in jail...if they tried they would probably give them back pretty fast.

the really cool big tree, blue sky, beautiful day.

The waters coming out of the ground. aparentley it pumps out on average 465 cu ft/s of water. its coming out pretty fast! and is only 58 degrees. not warm, either.
more pics of the spring

the girls by the giant big tree. i wonder how old it is??

Spring Break 2011

Ok, so I haven't posted for a long time now. I am usually too busy looking at other blogs, and my computer time is used up before I can even get a chance to post. And, Netflix hasn't helped, I am totally caught up on the entire series of Bones.... something I am not proud of, but my OCD comes out in different ways. I wish it could come out in the cleaning/laundry/house keeping side of life, but I guess we can't pick and choose.
We have been busy here in Kentucky this year, so far.
For spring Break, I took the girls and the dog to Arkansas, to see my mom for a week. The girls had so much fun. I did too, the week went by very quickly. Here are some of the pictures of our adventures. Emmaline got a hold of the camera during the week and took a picture of EVERYTHING she could, not wanting to forget a single thing. I guess we need to do more adventures. So sifting through the pictures was a little tough. She took some really good pics, but i get to take credit for some of them
(....side note.....I worked last night, and am very tired, so ramblings happen...)
While we were there, we took a little trip to Big Springs, Missouri. It wasn't too far from my parents house. It is, I believe, the largest natural spring in the States. It was absolutely beautiful. the water was so clear and blue. unfortunately, you could not get into the water until the spring met with the river, and became cloudy and gross...

the girls and i at big springs. i will get more pics up of this beautiful spot later.....

this is emmaline and sadie. sadie is getting pretty old now, she is a really good dog, but getting grumpy. piper drove her crazy, she was too tired to herd the overly energetic 8mo old pup. and piper wouldn't stay still.
So, a week or so before we got to my parents house, they had this play house delivered. it was so cute. the girls had so much fun it it. we planted flowers around it, built the little walkway up to it, and the girls made an icecream shop, out of it. emma documented every inch of it, i believe, so will have to post all of her fun times next.
Sophie on the 4wheeler. what girl doesn't love a photo shoot?

Easter dresses. if anyone knows me, they know that the girls have to have Easter dresses, that match/coordinate. They were so hard to find this year. But, Mountain Home, Arkansas had them..yeah!! So beautiful!! Marin wasn't in the mood for pics, so we got a few off her smiling...silly girl.

aaahhhh. I love my girls. they are so beautiful. so happyy, so helpful, so wonderful!!

Girl #4. I happen to think she is beautiful, too. she had so much fun at my parents house. they have 100 acres, and she got to run for a week. We were afraid she would run off, and not come back, but she loves us, so she always came back when called. she was sad to leave.
One of the girls photo shoot pics. this is from the mail box, looking at the house.
Little miss Marin on the little bridge. she had a great time, too, and keeps asking to go back to grandmas house. its a 9 hour drive, if you don't stop, and traffic is good going through St louis. Coming home, traffic was horrible due to construction, so it too almost 11 hours.

action shot of piper. that girl can run!!
hopefully i can get more pics up, even if it is just for me.....

Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

TodaysMama and GameStop are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What is your holiday wish for your family? That everyone would get their wishes granted, and that we could have plenty of money left over. but an xbox kinect would be FABULOUS!! plus games to go with it. They would think they were in paradise.

2. What is your Christmas morning / Hanukkah Nightly tradition? Christmas Morning, the girls are not allowed out of bed until we are up and ready. They wait patiently while the camera is set up and cinnamon rolls are place in the oven, and then we open stockings. after that, we try to eat a little sweet roll, then finish with the gifts.

3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be? I would ask Santa for an unlimited bank account. I would be able to take care of all of our needs, plus get a little 'Nip/Tuck" for myself.

4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money? We make alot of hand made gifts for everyone. We all help bake and wrap and deliver gifts. Plus, on Black Friday, we go out and see Santa at the Bass Pro Shop, and spend time together.

5. What games did you play with your family growing up? Growing up, we didn't play a lot of games. I do remember playing UNO. and Pictionary.

6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood? Everyone is together when we decorate the Christmas Tree.

7. Where would you go for a Christmas/Hanukkah-away-from-home trip? I would love to take everyone to a tropical island, or a trip around the world. One Christmas growing up, we went to Berchtesgaden, Germany and stayed at the Eagle's Nest, and went to ski school. Learning to ski at the base of Neuschwantstein Castle was the best Christmas I can remember. I would love to be able to give that trip to my children for Christmas.

8. Check out GameStop and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year? a Nintendo DSI, a Wii fit, a Wii rhumba game.

Halloween

So, I love Halloween. What a fun holiday. I love making costumes. I have made costumes for 10 years now. Starting with a 1.5 month old dressed as a PEA Pod, thinking that each child would wear the same costumes as they grew in to them, thus saving me time. hahah. I was so young then, and unaware that my 3 girls would end up looking so much a like, and that each scrapbook page would be identical.
Each year, we start looking at books and discussing the possibilities of Halloween starting in August. One year, I was able to purchase wonderful costumes from the Disney Store, just because we hit the sale just right. This year, however, after 30 yards of Tule, we came up with some fun costumes. can you guess what they are?
other than absolutely BEAUTIFUL??
OK, Emma's is a giveaway. She went as Cotton Candy.
Sophie is a Jelly Fish, Marin is a little Fairy.
Emmaline had Gorgeous Nails for the occasion.

And Gorgeous Eyes.
And a darling smile. of course, we cannot forget the Bling.

She wanted everyone to see her wings.........
Which were lost shortly after we started our Treck. and, yes, we Trick - or - Treated on Sunday.
She was so excited to have candy given to her... What a perfect day!!
My favorite picture of the 2 girls. Sophie's costume was a hit all over the neighborhood. Emma was just so cute and fluffy!! Halloween is fabulous!!

Fall Festival

This October, we went to a little Fall Festival at a farm here in Louisville. There was a little pumpkin patch, Hay rides, a "petting farm", bouncies, games, food, and pony rides.

Marin loves to see horses. She was excited to get on this pretty one.
And then, about half way around the SMALL arena, she started to get upset, nervous, worried,

Until it was full out hysterics. The teenagers running the pony rides stopped after one go 'round, and refunded us $2 of the $3, since she still went around 1 time. It is currently November, and she will not even get on the horse at the Kroger. Trauma.

My cute Sophie and Emmaline.

After the fun and excitement, the girls picked out pumpkins, and home we went.

Free Christmas Cards from Shutterfly

Well, for the maybe 1 person who visits this blog, I just wanted to pass along the fantastic news of 50 Free Christmas Cards from Shutterfly!!
I mean, how exciting is that!! That will save me $$ and time. I am not quite sure which is worth more right now, since both are short.

I want to thank Abby for sharing this juicy tidbit. Now here comes the hard part of finding the perfect picture..... the search is on.
