OMG the slides are like all awful!!!
Some of them have reflections and others are out of focus, not composed correctly or off colour!
I tell you I nearly lost it this morning.. THIS IS LIKE 3 DAYS BEFORE WE SUBMIT AND MY SLIDES ARE STILL NOT ALL DONE!
After that I just gave up and decided to stop listening to people telling me to experiment with the slides and JUST SEND THE BLOODY THING TO FOTOHUB AND LET THE PROFESSIONALS DEAL WITH IT...
Managed to salvage about 10 pictures that were slightly acceptable and send the rest of the 14 to fotohub to get them processed. All in all it comes up to $245 which, looking on the bright side, means that I didn't need to spend even more money getting all 24 pictures processed.
Anyway I had to prep the rest of my portfolio today which entails putting together the printed works for my Quality section and put together what slides were usable in the Breadth and Concentration section.
That's part of my Breadth Section.. blue paper in the slots indicate what's been sent for processing which I HOPE.. no MUST get to me by FRIDAY if not I'm screwed..
Thats the ACTUAL portfolio, in which we put everything to be shipped on Friday..
It's freaking huge as you can see how tiny the A4 paper looks lying on top.
The photo is one of the works for my Quality section blown up to A2 size (which I think looks lovely btw ^^)
Well not much I can do till Friday.. Time for some serious BIO!

I got a few of my photos printed out for my Quality Section and a few turned out screwy! I still had to pay for them.. hmph suffice to say I'm NEVER going back to that shop..
And because of that I didn't have time to catch a Free Cone Day @ Ben&Jerry... SIGH this is the second time I've missed it!
And I got A for English!!!! XD.. slimeball no more haha
Lord, please help the slides to be OK!! If not I'm so dead..

This morning had like totally bad karma..
Just about to leave for school and I broke my favourite clay coaster >.< Poor thing is now scotch taped up till I can make a new one =(
Today was like hectic beyond words.. Had to rush off from Bio for our final art critique...
I'm rather worried about that because she's grading us on the work we did THIS sem as opposed to what we're ACTUALLY sending in for AP.. hmm
I can't believe she thinks my Breadth section is stronger then my Concentration section! And she thinks the works I feel are weak are actually strong pieces.. wow such a contrast here.. It's always been like that anyway, especially with my own work. Whatever I don't think is that nice is actually a hit with other people whereas the works I prefer seem to attract little attention.
In any case Reico's work was on nipples.. *chuckle* and the pots were all so.. well ROUND hahahahah and the nipples were VERY long XD. I really can't help but be amused haha
Anyway I didn't have time to finish my critique and had to rush off for Calc AP prep which I scored a 5 for btw ^^
Rushed back up w/o lunch only to find she's invigilating -.-"
Had lunch and managed to retake slides of a few of my pieces
Then again had to rush off for IR only to be told that the lab will close at an ungodly early hour of 3 45 due to that damn TGM so I have to postpone all stuff till tomorrow, which spells disaster for me since I doubt (again) that ANYTHING will get done..
The SYPA website is hanging on me >.< can't check the rules for my entry.. gah
Anyway good thing APStudio is nearly over.. I can finally concentrate on BIOLOGY which has been sorely neglected thus far...
yikes the cluster fridge is getting cleared out again.. last time it happened there were maggots in the food that people left outside.. I wonder what new species we'll observe this time.. *eyeroll*
ooh and I bought two Gio tees for to be used for printing.. it's gonna turn out so cool =D

Ah shit, I hate it when this happens.. I end up making an utter fool of myself.. and it's not helping when I have 249 days left..
I really have no patience for things that are not working..
Firstly today I go up to get the key, the door always seems to be locked (by card) when I get there and I need to go all the way back up to get someone to come down and unlock it for me and this happens 3 TIMES today whats more..
Then running SDS take FOREVER because
1. We need to wash of the protein sample using 15 MICRO L of buffer, and that minuscule amount is supposed to collect enough sample from a slide which is mostly dried up.
2. The stacking gel takes FOREVER to set and I think there's something wrong with the formula although everyone insists there isn't.
3. We have to run the sample by UV Spec to make sure that the conc is consistent for all sample and after waiting for it to start up we find out that the bloody machine isn't working!
4. The lab closes early on Fridays and before anything happens we get chased out and the gel STILL hasn't set! Bloody Brilliant..
5. Finally have to clear up everything to do it another day and since I still haven't fed the abalone, I need to come down and the door is locked AGAIN!
6. And even though I started at 11am NOTHING much has really been accomplished in all that time!
7. Then the printing place calls to tell me that the slide film for my APStudio Art has problems! (which incidentally also happened to the other rolls we sent in) They blame it on our camera but I think they screwed up and are desperately trying to cover it up.. Because, firstly, we took the images in digital and they were FINE! Secondly, it is not possible to have double images on the same frame on an AUTO camera!
SO JUST GREAT! Nice little ending to this whole sad episode of a day..
If I don't get the slides sorted out on time I might as well not submit anything for my AP portfolio.. I'm SICK OF THIS! And where is our dear teacher-in-charge? Missing in action and pushing the buck as always.. Someone else had to step in and help us.. IRRESPONSIBLE.. and cheap whats more.. we have to pay for the second roll of film even though we had to pay $20 for our slide film (and one roll only costs $11-12 to develop)
I need to bash something against a wall somewhere..

My brother managed to chalk up a $900 phone bill this month! and no I'm not joking here.. it's really $900! My dad smsed me while I was sleeping and the next morning I thought it was a dream but lo and behold it was really true! It's that darn internet access on our phones, he apparently went wild with it haha.. good thing is, it was offset by 700+ because this is the first month.. He's in deep shit man..
Rehearsals are a chore.. I wanted to buy some books today.. hmph
I'm seriously juggling to many things now to be sane.. I've the stupid art portfolio to complete, and with no way to transfer my digital pictures into slides! They want to print out my photo and then take a picture of it with a slide camera, but I'll lose so much of the detail in my pictures!! If I don't get a 5 for this, I know why >=[
Bio is just scaring me right now but at least Calculus is manageable.
Then there's AP ArtHistory for which no time was set aside for me to do any prep, so I have to find time in the already tight schedule for me to go through the papers.
Been trying to also fit in my JSRP because the experiments are time sensitive and my project group is trying to make the June deadline and on top of that I'm in the SYPA competition and I don't even have all the pieces I need to submit!
And some teachers are REALLY not helping when they DON'T DO THEIR JOB and push everything to us. Then what the hell are we paying them for I wonder! X[
and sacrilege! The pictures were so small in the book >.<
anyway, someone accidentally quacked today.. the funniest moment today and from someone who tries to act so cute whats more.. darn hilarious hahaha
and Mr Lim is writing on the library glass panels during his night class! ohoho this is something
Good news is, we finally managed to run our sample through SDS! Miss Wu managed to work out the kinks and it was run today.. hopefully we've got something to work on ^^

Decided to check out the slogan thing Abu was talking about on her blog.. I got "Uncommonly Made, Uncommonly Good." I have NO IDEA what that's supposed to mean ^^ They probably string random words from the dictionary and come up with funky sentences XD
I finally managed to catch the 1954 version of Sabrina <3 but I still think the 1995 version is nicer since there's Harrison Ford ^^
Another one of our abalones died when we checked up on them on Friday. One of the newer ones.. sad now we only have 8 left.. Good news is, 3 of them retained the slide so we're able to run the SDS and SEM on it. Yay!

Man it's been a while..
The class cube I made for my mentor group last year finally got bisk-fired this year so yeah.. The class started rolling them around on the tables =)
I finally figured out that he reads my blog.. Bravo you..
Anyway reading days have been a real trial so far. Been spending whole days just parked in front of my desk just studying. I was quite surprised my butt hadn't stuck to the seat by now..
Managed to play a bit of pool and started doodling on my hand during the breaks..
Anyway Bio, Calc and Stats is over and there's just ArtHist left... I think I shouldn't talk about the papers until I get them back.. don't really want to speculate..
We found out Pinky died over last weekend.. I'm not sure if it's due to the glass slide but she's missing a feeler so she could have bled to death.. In any case, we preserved the body and salvaged the shell..
I think it's really pretty but it has a little too much pink for my liking ^^
Anyway today we put slides into all the abalone.. A rather tedious process but we eventually cooked up a way to make the whole process a lot faster and not stress out the poor dears too much..

I didn't sleep a wink last night, literally.. Wasn't feeling too good yesterday in any case.. Kinda difficult to get through IR in one piece.
YeYe was cremated this morning but MaMa didn't attend it. I don't really blame her though. I still really don't believe he's gone because this really came out of the blue and I never even expected it. The whole thing seems so short, he only died a few days ago and he's cremated already. Only 88, what an auspicious age to die.. sigh
I think cremations are too traumatic for everyone because it's a bit too drastic to do it right after someone just died. A good burial would be calmer and at least there's a body and a grave to visit.
I wonder how life goes on from here..

YeYe passed away today and I got the sms from Mum just before English speech. It really threw me off and I really don't think I did well for my speech. Mr Sim seems to think differently though.

haha today something really funny happened!
I was doing smoke photography in the small storage room in the Art room with Mr Syed today for Studio AP. We've been trying to get the settings right for a while and today we finally got it, so I was happily snapping away while the mosquito coil as burning and we didn't realize that as we were taking the shots the smoke was building up in the room.
It was rising toward the smoke detector and then suddenly, "THE FIRE ALARM HAS BEEN SOUNDED, PLEASE REMAIN CALM AND WAIT FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA we set off the fire alarm!! We were like "oh shit!" and quickly opened the doors and turned on the fan to full until the fire alarm stopped! Hahahaha Mr Syed was hoping the security wouldn't storm in to find out just what we were smoking hahaha!
In any case, I headed down for bio after that smelling full of smoke (it warded off mosquitoes and just about everyone else too ^^) when during class the fire alarm sounded again! I guess it must have been the fumes from my stinky shirt! Hahahaha
In any case, the photoshoot yeilded good results!
there are many more but too busy to put them up now ^^
