We spent the 24th of July in Bear Lake this year. Our first night there, Kathy bought tickets for the girls to see Crazy for You at the Pickleville Playhouse. It was a darling musical, and it had one of my all time favorite broadway show tunes, "Someone to Watch Over Me".
Abby wanted to get her picture taken with the characters.
These two played the leads, and they both had beautiful voices!
The next day, we headed to the lake. This was the first year that it was actually hot enough to counteract the cold water! It was perfect :)
Shanna, Kathy's niece, and her son Pat, came with us this year! It was so much fun getting to hang out with them. Shanna is hilarious!
Once we parked the truck, we had to hike into the woods. I am so sad because my pictures DO NOT do this scenery justice! It was amazing being in the middle of all these trees! We were completely off the trail by this point. Barry was 10 feet in front of us with the GPS and he would say, "1/4 mile!" then 15 minutes later, "1/4 mile!" We were like, umm, you said that 15 minutes ago! Then he would count down in feet. We were ready to kill him :)
We reached this ledge with the most incredible view, and we actually had to climb down it!
Down we went into the dark and unknown.... so awesome!
This cache was named "Princess Castle", and when we finally reached our location, we saw why they named it that. This rock was sitting up high on a cliff, and the top of it (hidden by the tree) looked like the top of a castle. Unfortunately, after looking for several minutes, we weren't able to find the cache :(
But the views we got to see, and the time we spent together made it all worth it! This was a place we would have never seen on our own, and that is what makes this new hobby of ours so awesome!
When we got back to the cabin that evening, we decided to roast marshmellows on the deck, and we could see occasional fireworks over the lake. It was so nice, except for the stomach ache I got from eating TOO many roasted marshmellows. They are my weakness :)
Later that night, I finished the cross stitch I have been working on since I was pregnant with Abby!! Yep, a 7 year project was finally put to bed. I actually got teary eyed when I finished it. I
signed it, and I will be hanging it in Abby's room. It was originally intended for her nursery, but better late then never, right?
Our last day, Abby took me for a ride on one of the 4 wheelers. Leave it to my daughter to wear a dress on a 4 wheeler, but I did make her wear leggings :)
Every year, I have been wanting to try these quadricycles, so when Kathy suggested it, I was so all for it! We all went down to the KOA bike rental shop, and rented a double and a quad. It was so much fun, and we had MANY laughs! One funny moment was when we passed a field of cows, and they were all tagged, and Abby said to Kathy, "Look grandma, they're for sale! They have signs!" So cute how innocent kids are, and yet so sad that she was wrong :(
So much fun his year! We tried something new everyday that we were there. We also had many laughs, and inside jokes on this trip. And on that note I think I'll end with:
"Dude, that is so freaking gay, ya? hmm."
