The end of our week in pics

My cousin Amanda is going to college here now and only lives about 5 minutes away from us. We have loved having her here and the boys are crazy about her. Dawson talks about her a few times a day or asks "What's Amanda doing?" As soon as I tell him that she's either at school or make something up that she might be doing, he argues with me. Okay fine, she's not at school, she's at home playing! She swam with us Friday afternoon and then came back later that evening and babysat the boys so that Geoff and I could have a date night. Hudson loves to take advantage of Dawson's things while he's asleep. Hudson was playing in the living room on Friday while I was picking up the kitchen. I looked in the living room and found him sitting in Dawson's chair with a big smile on his face. He loves to help me vacuum. Gosh I love his smile!
The boys were both up bright and early on Friday morning. 6:40 and 6:43. We ended up taking a walk around the neighborhood and stopped by the neighborhood park. The weather was great on Friday morning!
Hudson did end up having to miss out on his first day of school on Thursday. He still had a fever but didn't act like he felt terrible. Thursday evening he ended up with a fever of 103 and we could tell that he felt bad. We got his fever down some and laid him down around 7:45. I heard him crying around 8:30 and walked upstairs. His fever had broke and the kid was ready to party! He was up until 10:00 just laughing, playing, and reading books.
This happened on Friday morning. Hudson fought the lion and the lion won. Speaking of that stupid lion.....I'm pretty sure that it might be the death of me. If you have been to our house, you know what lion I'm talking about. It's this little push and ride lion. I've had it in a lot of pictures because someone is always playing with it. My mom bought it at the Just Between Friends sale of $15 when Dawson was a baby! Best $15 ever! Anyway....both kids love it and it's the cause of many fights and time outs. We usually tell Dawson that he can't play with it because it helps Hudson walk. You know how well 3 year old boys listen. Dawson pushes it into Hudson, sticks his feet out so that Hudson can't go forward, steals it away from him, etc. The next minute, he might be handing it over for him to play with. I should have checked the JBF sale last week to see if they had one for Dawson. It might save me a lot of headaches!

First day of school

Dawson had his first day of school yesterday. He's going to the same school (Mother's Day Out) that he went to last year and this summer. He loves school! He's been so excited about starting again and taking his new backpack and lunch box. He had a great first day. They do not take naps in this classroom so that is a change for him. He told me at least 7 times before we made it home that he did not take a nap at school. That's must have been an exciting part of the day. Dawson is far from dropping his nap. If he doesn't nap during the day, we usually all pay for it. He came home for a "rest" time in his room and fell asleep within about 3 minutes. I had to wake up him 2 hours later!! Dawson walked out of the bathroom after we came home and had his pants around his ankles. He stuck his butt out to me and said, "I showed my teacher Lightening McQueen....right here, on my butt!!" I'm just crossing my fingers that he didn't actually say the word "butt." We had a discussion that although his Lightening McQueen underwear are really cool, he doesn't need to show them to everyone. He disagreed.
His sweet little smile just shows how excited he was to be there!
Dawson is going to school on Tuesday and Thursday this year. Hudson is going to go on Thursdays.....which means that he should start tomorrow. Never fails, the kid has had a fever today! Dawson has been really excited about Hudson going to school and getting to take him to his classroom. I explained to him today that Hudson might not be able to go tomorrow. He was heartbroken and started crying!

Our weekend in review

Happy Monday! We went to see Geoff's parents on Saturday and came back late that evening. We had a nice visit with them and aunt Julie. We went to the "horsey mall" as Dawson calls it. One of Dawson's favorite things to do at Papa and Ma Dee-Dee's house is to watch Youtube train videos with Papa. They sat here for an hour watching trains! We went to a birthday part on Sunday for one of Hudson's buddies who just turned one. Conner has an older sister that is Dawson's age. The party was at Gymboree and the kids both had a great time. Hudson liked checking out himself in the mirror. I love this picture of Charlie, Taylor, and Dawson dancing away. They have been buds since Dawson was 4 months old and all go to the same Mother's Day out together.
Rocking out with Charlie
He was amazed by Jimbo the clown. He stood for the longest time, just staring!
Hudson took his first steps last week. He's not walking a ton but seems to take more and more steps each day. I have a video that we took this evening of him walking and will post it on here soon.
I have to share this funny conversation that I had with Dawson last week.
Dawson: "I want a cookie"
Me: "Maybe later. You had one a little bit ago."
Dawson: "OHHHHHHHHH, Come on, Sweetheart!!!"

Picasso

Have you heard of Pinterest? I'm in love with that website! I've found some of the coolest ideas and recipes from there. Geoff thinks that I'm trying to become the next Betty Crocker with all of the new recipes that I've tried over the last month or so. I found this sidewalk painting idea on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. I mixed equal parts of corn starch and water in a muffin tin and then added food coloring to it. We had a great time painting our driveway!
Hudson made a mess at dinner so I took his clothes off of him. If Hudson has all or part of his clothes off, Dawson has to take his off. I decided to just let him paint in his undies....on our driveway.

Can't bully me! By Hudson

This is Hudson. I stole my Mommy's laptop because I had to tell you a story. I've had this toy in my room that needed the batteries replaced. My mom finally replaced them today and I'm so glad she did. I forgot how cool this toy is!
I was nice and let Dawson play with my toy, too.
Dawson quickly decided that he wanted to play with it alone and tried to give me a new toy to play with. I didn't want anything to do with it. He got a little mean and pushed me down. I didn't mind getting pushed to the floor because he had to go to time out! HA HA! I got to play with it by myself and was so happy!
He came back from time out and we started sharing again. I knocked the little toys over, laughed, and then Dawson would get mad. It was so funny!
He didn't think so.
I got tired of him trying to push me away from it so I took the toy and pushed it across the room.
Dawson quickly caught up....
and pushed me away from my new favorite toy.
I gave up and let him play with it
and I played with my lion. I felt a little defeated.
until I came up with the BRILLIANT idea to just take my lion and run it right into the toy that Dawson was playing with! HA! I'm teaching my big brother that he can't steal my toys and bully me!

The flood

We made trip #2 to the new outlet mall tonight. The Coach store was seriously calling my name. While we were there, Hudson puked. He had some sausage from Geoff's pizza at dinner and he loved it, but it must have not set very well with him. He smelled awful. We got home and I unloaded him and said that I needed to hurry and get his clothes off before I puked from the smell. I'm still not sure why we didn't put on his "emergency clothes" but whatever....he rode home with a little puke on him. When we walked in the door, Dawson said that he needed to pee. While standing up, he pooped........on the floor! So at that moment I had a puke smelling baby, poop on the floor, poop on Dawson and he's saying he still needs to go. I flushed the toilet, walked out, came back to finish cleaning up and flushed the toilet again. For the record....there was no toilet paper in the toilet during flush #2. As Dawson was sitting on the toilet, water started flowing out of the toilet! It was everywhere! I ran outside to yell at Geoff, who was cleaning up the pool from the storm. I wonder how many of our neighbors heard me yell out, "Hurry, the toilet is over flowing!" I've never in my life had a toilet overflow like this. I was still holding the puke smelling baby because I didn't want him in the water and I was trying to get Dawson off of the toilet and not slip on the water. Our entire floor in our powder bathroom was covered in water and the hallway in front of the door. It also ended up in the AC closet next to the bathroom. It was a mess!!! Dawson was bawling, Geoff was yelling, I was laughing hysterically, and Hudson was looking at us like we were all crazy. Geoff yelled at us to get upstairs and that he would clean it up. I happily agreed! I took the kids upstairs, gave them baths, and got them in bed. When I came downstairs, the mess was cleaned! I have a great husband.

This was from earlier in the week. Hudson needed some new pj's. Dawson wants to wear these PJ's every single night! I finally hid them and his Cars tshirt today.

Through the eyes of a 3 year old

Geoff had an old Sony point and shoot camera out on our desk that he took on his trip to South Carolina. He let Dawson take a few pictures with it the other day and he had a blast! We have another (better) Canon point and shoot so we decided that Dawson could just have this camera to call his own. He's taken hundreds of pictures this week! It is pretty interesting to see what he takes pictures of. He sure sees a lot of butts at his height! He took a picture of Geoff changing Hudson's poopy diaper last night. His butt was covered in poop and Dawson felt the need to snap a picture. Nice. It was quickly deleted. Enjoy the snap shots from our little photographer!

11 months

This is what I looked like at this time last year: I am SOOOOOO glad that I was pregnant last summer and not in this miserable weather.
I can't believe that our little Hudson will be a year in one month.
Here is what Hudson is up to at 11 months:
-You are crawling, cruising and standing but you haven't taken any steps yet. I'm predicting that you still have a little while before you start walking.
-You eat all finger foods now. Pancakes, waffles, bananas, strawberries, watermelon, grilled cheese, pizza, cheerios, Rice Chex cereal, and gold fish are among your favorites.
-You love to swim, but you are not to happy in your swim ring anymore. You prefer to crawl around on the sunledge.
-You do not like to have your diaper changed at all. I usually have to sing songs to you in order to get you to stay still. We tried giving you something to play with while we change you and that doesn't even work.
-You wear size 3 diaper. You have some size 4 diapers but they are a little big.
-You wear size 6-12 month clothes.
-You have been waking up much earlier the past few weeks! Anywhere from 5:45-8:30am! Sometimes you will go back to sleep after you eat a bottle and some mornings you are ready to get up and play at 6:30.
-You are crazy about Dawson! You love to go wake him up from a nap and crawl around on his bed.
-Your favorite toys are your walking lion, monkey, sing-a-long band, and any car of Dawson's that makes noises.
-You seem MUCH happier after getting tubes put in your ears.
We love you precious baby!!!

iphone pics

We were leaving the gym today and the boys realized that they could reach out and hold hands. They would hold hands and then start cracking up. They are just crazy about each other. We had a cookout this weekend with Dawson's tball team. Dawson was proud of his medal and certificate.
I told Dawson to go upstairs this morning and get dressed. He walked downstairs wearing this. I think that it's safe to say that he is ready for football season to start.
This is Hudson's new favorite place to stand. He stands at this door and just stares out at the pool! The little guy loves to swim! He really enjoys just being outdoors so this 100+ degree temperature is not fun for him, unless he's in the water!
