Happy Halloween!!

This is the last of 3 Halloween posts so make sure you scroll on down to see the rest of our Halloween filled week. We had a great Halloween! Our neighborhood is like a big party for Halloween. There were tons of people out last night and it was a lot of fun. Dawson loved trick-or-treating and really liked getting all of the candy! After he finished, he liked hearing the doorbell ring at our house. He thought that he needed candy in his bucket from us whenever we would give it to other kids.
He loved riding in his wagon from house to house!
Hudson went to two of our neighbors house and then came home and fell asleep. Our football and football player.
Happy little guy after returning home.
Off to go trick-or-treating at one of our neighbor's houses.
The look on Dawson's face cracks me up. Typical 2 year old behavior! ;)
Like father, like son!

Halloween Party

We had a Halloween party with Dawson's playgroup on Friday. All of the kids dressed up in their costumes, decorated sugar cookies, colored pumpkins, ate pizza, and played.
Dawson and his sugar cookie. He got a little carried away with the sprinkles! The bruise on his head is a football injury...or maybe he just fell while running on the driveway.
I've decided that it takes a miracle to happen in order to get a decent picture of more than one person looking at the person, eyes open, and smiling. Wish our photographer good luck in a few weeks! Dawson and Charlie

This is Dawson and Jackson at the very first Halloween party. So sweet!

Fall carnival

We went to a fall carnival at our church on Thursday evening. To say that there were a lot of people there would be a total understatement! Wow! Dawson had a great time playing the games with this friend, Taylor. Dawson likes getting dressed up in his costume and liked getting candy even more!

Our 2 little pumpkins

I'm not sure about you but we are super excited for Halloween at our house this year. We were at an OSU game last year for Halloween so this will be Dawson's first time trick-or-treating. We are planning to go to a fall carnival at our church this week, have a Halloween party with Dawson's playgroup on Friday, and then will trick-or-treat on Saturday. I decided to try this shirt on Hudson today and was shocked that it fit him so well. I remembered taking Dawson's picture on this blanket that a friend made for us and then felt the need to get a repeat pic of Hudson. Dawson was almost 6 months in this picture and Hudson will be 2 months next Wednesday.

Weekend in review

Happy Monday! Geoff took Friday off and we made a trip to the mall and did a few other things. He ended up trading his car in this weekend so he spent some time at the car dealerships this weekend. It was the easiest car buying experience I've ever done b/c I never stepped foot into the dealership. My parents, brother, niece, cousin, and her husband came over on Saturday and we watched the OSU game. We just hung out around the house on Sunday afternoon. Geoff cut down a tree in the backyard for an upcoming backyard project. Dawson was eager to help as soon as he woke up from his nap. This kid does EVERYTHING that Geoff does. Sometimes I do not even think that Geoff realizes how much he imitates what he does and says.....the good, the bad, and the ugly. It really is very sweet to see just how crazy Dawson is about his daddy.
Hudson enjoyed hanging out in his bouncy seat outside, after he had a MAJOR diaper blowout! He had poop all the way up his back, almost to his shoulder blades. That sure was fun to change.

Down, Set, Hut

Geoff and Dawson love to play football and tackle each other. We were playing upstairs in Dawson's room last night and Geoff had the brilliant idea to have Dawson tackle his blow up football guy. Here's a short video of Dawson tackling Mr.Receiver. He backs all the way to the other side of his room for this tackle and runs full speed at him. Geoff's reaction on video is priceless. He obviously has no fear and is learning early how to be a football player. There will be one nervous momma in the stands. I was nervous as he was doing this last night!

Saturdays during the fall

Our Saturdays during the fall usually always revolve around whatever time OSU plays and usually other games as well. Our boys are learning early what time to cheer for and we think they look pretty cute in their orange gear. Papa and Ma Dee-Dee came to visit us this weekend. We took them to eat at this great new pizza place and then came home to watch the OSU game. Cross your fingers that OSU can pull off a homecoming win against Nebraska. We are not going to go to homecoming this year but have a couple of other games we will go to later on. We split our season tickets with Geoff's parents this year since we knew we couldn't go to a lot of the games at the start of the season. We took Dawson to the walk arounds when he was a baby and I swore that I wouldn't take young kids again. He hated the big crowds, even when we had him in the baby bjorn. I refuse to take a stroller in that mad house! So for those of you going to homecoming, take pics and post them for me.

I keep forgetting to write about this but Dawson has started using his potty chair almost everyday after he wakes up from his nap. We have a big celebration and a few M&M's everytime he uses the potty chair. We are not pushing the potty training super hard right now but we are certainly celebrating when he does go.

Hudson has started getting into a routine. He eats, stays awake for a little while, and then takes a nap. He's waking up once in the middle of the night, usually around 3:00 and then will wake up again around 6:00. I was so tired yesterday. I think waking up in the middle of the night finally caught up with me. Hudson must have realized this and he decided to sleep for over 5 hours straight last night! He then slept until we got up to go to church this morning. He took a bottle from Geoff last night and did a pretty good job with it. I left the bottle in hot water for longer than usual so I'm not sure if that helped or why he decided to take it. Cross your fingers he repeats that!

Pumpkin patch

We made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch today with our play group buddies. The pumpkin patch has a hayride, petting zoo, maze, slides, etc. We had a great time and then made a stop at Pops for lunch.
Dawson was so tired (and dirty) from running all over the place. He did have an interesting nap. He slept on th way home and I was even able to carry him upstairs to take a nap. He fell asleep for maybe 15 minutes and then heard the phone ring. I heard him talking to himself, laughing, and kicking the wall for about 30-45 minutes. I knew he would be awful tonight if he didn't nap. I went upstairs and told him to quit playing and it was nap time. I was shocked that it worked. He ended up going to sleep and I had to wake him up at 5:30!
Hudson slept for most of the visit but took a break to eat. I decided to bring a bottle to the pumpkin patch. He basically refuses to drink a bottle from me and usually doesn't take it well for Geoff either. He drinks for a little bit and then ends up spitting it out and letting it run down his face. Wonderful! My friend, Valery and I ended up switching babies today to see if Hudson would eat well for her. He took it for a little bit and then decided that he just wanted to nurse. We were about to leave so I ened up taking him to the car to nurse. We have tried 2 different bottles and I don't think that's the problem. SOOOO....if any of you reading this have any wonderful tips on getting the littlest man to take a bottle, I'm all ears! Comment, email me, FB message me, call me...whatever. ;) He didn't sit still for long at all!
Kennedy, Dawson, Taylor, and Charlie. We had 4 other kids who came with us but this was the best group shot we could get.
Riding the tire swing.
Dawson and Charlie. These two wear each other out!
Charlie, Dawson, and Taylor. Charlie and Taylor go to the same school as Dawson and he talks about them constantly.
Hudson before we left.
I found this picture of Dawson, Charlie, and Taylor at the same pumpkin patch in 2008. Dawson wasn't even 6 months old yet. They look so little! He's lucky to have such great friends.

I have art work!!!

I wrote in my last post that I was convinced I wouldn't have any art from Dawson all year. He proved me wrong today! Check out my artist and his masterpiece. What makes this even better is that as soon as I saw the art hanging up to take, I said to myself that there was no way he did that. He does not like to be messy. I've attempted finger painting with him and he cried and said, "all done." So just imagine how surprised I was to see his name on one of the papers hanging up. Dawson seems to really enjoy going to school. He usually sees Charlie and Taylor (two of his best buddies) in the parking lot and they have started running to their classroom. I'm excited that he's excited about going and I'm not having to drag him in! He hugged his teacher today and she said he had a great day. I'll keep you posted on any future art projects that I may, or may not have.

Pics from this week

Dawson is obsessed with these little trains again. He has had them for a while but they have been in hiding until last week. They are battery operated and have a little track that they go on but they also can go on the floor. These trains could very easily send me into a mental hospital! They are driving me crazy!! He loves to take them and let them go across the floor, under the couch, etc. until they run into a wall. They sit there with their wheels spinning until someone turns it off. (usually me telling Dawson to go get his train "right now!") The train going around the track is fine, it's when it hits the wall and spins that can drive me crazy! The trains are currently taking a nap for the afternoon. The first thing that Dawson said when he woke up is "Percy," the name of the train that he's holding in this picture.
Sweet little Hudson slept for 4-5 hours straight the past two nights and has also gone a little longer between feedings the past two days. He's such a sweet little baby and seems be so calm....right now anyway. We spent some time playing upstairs in Dawson's room after nap time. He loves to color on his dry erase board or color a picture. He refuses to do art at school but loves to do it at home. I'm convinced that I'll never have an art project brought home this year. He's doing very well with school. He talks about it a lot and didn't cry when I dropped him off the past 2 weeks. He has two friends in another class and they play together outside. I'm sure that helps out a lot!
He loves laying on his tummy!
Dawson hated this mat when he was a baby but thinks he needs to lay under it now.

1 month old

It is so hard to believe that Hudson is already 1 month old! He no longer looks like a little newborn. He's starting to chunk up and has some pretty cute little fat rolls on him! Here's what Hudson is up to right now.... -You eat every 2 hours, sometimes 3. You have one long stretch of sleep at night, usually 4+ hours. -You love your binky and try to put it back in your mouth if you think it will fall out. -You love tummy time and if you get fussy, laying you on your stomach will usually help. Your brother hated to be on his tummy at your age! -You get A LOT of kisses each day, especially from Dawson. He wakes up every morning and says, "good morning, Hudson." -You are starting to take a bottle better now. -You do not seem to like the swing. -You like bath time. This is a good thing because our family certainly likes spending time in the water. -You smile at us some each day and I do not believe that babies only smile when they have gas! -There is NO hiding when you poop! You are a loud pooper. You even pooped at church last week. I'm sure everyone around us knew exactly what you were doing. Speaking of pooping, your brother knows when you poop and now runs to his bathroom (AKA the utility room) and starts grunting to make himself poop. He is the proud new owner of two new potty training books. If he can make himself poop on demand, he can do it in the potty!!!

I've been catching up on blogging tonight. There are 2 new blog posts after this.

A Day Out With Thomas the Train

We went to "A Day Out With Thomas the Train" on Saturday morning. The weather was wonderful and we had a great time. We went on a 25 minute train ride and Dawson loved it. He was able to see Thomas and was amazed by all of it.
Look how talented Geoff is....Hudson in the carrier and holding Dawson at the same time.
