Bring on the rust

Hello everyone and welcome. With this year nearly gone, it nice to think about what next year will bring. I intend to make it a much more healthier year for me. What are you wishing for in 2016?

Today I'm over at That's Crafty with a project on rust. I love creating vintage aged projects and rust is one of my fav ways to create an aged look. Here's a peek but you can see the full tutorial here.

I hope you enjoy seeing how it was created any questions please leave them in the comments and I will asap. Take care for now hugs

First Powertex Play

Hello and welcome, thank you for popping in today to see what I've been up to, with new toy Powertex. My crafty pals have been playing with this fabric medium, and creating some stunning pieces. I was curious from the start and when I got to chat with them at the fabulous Art Party Leandra and Mark organised for the PATwits I was convinced I would like this product.

I bought some fabric from the Powerex web site and tore a piece off to use on a #10 gray/whiteboard tag from That's Crafty. I soaked the material in the medium and arranged it on my tag. I love how mailable the fabric became, I added some other pieces and let it dry.

Once it was dry enough to touch I painted the tag, in gold, then added some bister in Natrual and Blue. I then used some copper colour mixed with Matt medium. I included some polymer clay pieces I had created using molds.

Well there it, is my first play. I think I am hooked and will be using this much more in my mixed media creations. Take care and I'll see you hugs Debs xxx

My second inspiration

Hello everyone and welcome, thanks for popping in today. I'm sharing my second inspiration for the current Challenge over at Country View Crafts.

Here's what I did

I used a small square smoothly board and gave it a thin coat of Crackle Glaze and once dry I covered in Chalk Fresco Acrylic. Then using Distress ink I formed some peaks and troughs.

Next I stamped a tree and cottage from my stash (cannot remember where I got this from)

Then came Father Christmas from Paper Artsy which I coloured with Fabre Castel Paint pens

I used the paint pens for the house also.

There you go! I'll be back soon so you all take care, hugs Debs xxx

New Challenge

Morning all, today starts the New Challenge at That's Crafty and it's a very simple one Anything Goes. So get your crafty hats on and come up with a crafty project to enter the challenge. There is a £20 voucher for the winner. My teammates and I have come up with some amazing projects to tempt you into the craft room so go check them out for inspiration.

I kept with a Christmas theme with my little cozy room, but you can do anything you fancy!

I love these little art rooms from Tando as they are so versatile, although this is my first I'm sure there will be many more.

First I made up the room

I added bricks with with texture paste and stencil

While this was drying I asked my OH to find me some Victorian style paper for the back wall. I also requested that he add a fire place with mantel and a picture above. The picture is one of our wedding in Landale with Pikes in the background. He found an old frame for it too.

I painted the brickwork as I wanted to create a London Stock brickwork but I didn't like the colour so changed it back to off white. At this stage I didn't really know where I was going with it and with Hindsight it probably would look better red with the finished creation.

I used grunge paste on the floor and fashioned it to look like old floor boards. I painted it with Burnt and Raw Umber, then used a gloss vanish.

I added some broken plant branches as fire wood and a piece of hessian for the mat. The garland on the mantle was some fresh leaves of one our conifers with some clay balls painted red. I sprinkled some glamour dust too for that Christmas sparkle.

The snow is from DecoArt, the tree a Tim Holtz. I used some hessian for its base and some ribbon from my stash. The clock is from Kaiser Crafts.

To add that warmth you can see in the first picture I cut a tealight into 4,and tucked it away in the left corner.

Here is a video with a show around

I hope I have inspired you to enter the challenge, take care and I'll see you soon hugs Debs xx

Christmas Gifts and Cards

Hello everyone, tonight I'm sharing a gift box and tag I made for the Paper Artsy blog. You can see all the details here.

I promised to share how I made this

For the base

I cut my card 8x8 inch and scored each edge at 1/2 in and 1 1/2in

I cut into the corners to give a neat fold

I folded the 1/2in score line all round and then assembled the base.

I used glossy accents to stick it together.

The lid is made in the same but it is 1/8 in bigger all round. This allows for ease of removing.

Here are some more photos

I really enjoyed making this box and hope to make some sets in the New Year. Take care, and I'll see you Debs xx

New Challenge at Mixed Media World

Hello everyone thank you for popping in. Today I'm sharing my inspiration for the new challenge. This month I chose the theme which is simply colours. You can do anything you like as long as it is mixed media.

Here's the palette I chose

This month we also have a sponsor who has generously offered 3 Etsy designs from The Old Vintage Shop

.

Here is what I created

I used a white gray board from That's Crafty and added Fresco Acrylic Paint to the background. I blended the colours in some areas. Colours are Slate, Concrete, Lake Wanika Chalk and French Roast.

Using the same palette I started to create my girl

I then added more detail using a Stabilo All pencil in white and black

I added water to the pencil and made it drip
I added some highlights

I finished with some symbols on the background

The finished picture

Please visit Mixed Media World for all the fabulous creations my team mates have created to inspire you. I'll be back soo but until then take care of yourselves, hugs Debs xxx

New face

Morning everyone thank you for popping by as I know how busy we all are. I'm off to Wales tonight to see my family. I've been saving up my nana hugs for little ones as the big one is far too cool! It doesn't seem that long ago he would catch nana kisses and put them in his heart to save them.

My face today was created on my new iPad with Procreate. I love the ease of the programme and the iPad is far more sensitive to pressure. I hope you like her. I'm linking her to Kim Dellows show your face all the details follow the link.

Here is how she was made, you will see the all the different changes I made which is one of the reason I like doing digital art,the undo button and the eraser lol.

Well that's me see you soon hugs Debs xxx

Face for Friday

Hello again, this afternoon I'm sharing a face I completed using soft pastels. I was inspired to use pastels again by the very talented Ivy Newport whose online class Shades of White I'm currently enjoying. Back in the day (80's) I used pastels all the time for faces as I could blend the colours better. Something to use more me thinks.

I will be linking her to Kim Dellows Show your face all the details here
Anyway here she is

I took this picture just after I had sprayed her with a gloss vanish I love the effect it created

Here is one before the spray.

I was still pleased with her but love the sprayed one as she almost looks like she's made from concrete.

Take care all and I'll see you soon hugs Debs xx

Seasons Greetings

Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by. It's a new Challenge at that That's Crafty this week and it's all about the big day. Pop over to blog to see all the fabulous inspiration my team mates created to inspire you, there are some fabulous makes. Don't forget by entering the Challeneg you could be in with a chance to win a £20 voucher to spend in the shop.

For mine I chose a simple project on acrylic.

I just love the different substrates in acrylic that That's Crafty are selling and thought this little candle holder would make a lovely addition to my Christmas makes.

I started by stamping my features on the backside of the acrylic on all four sides. The stamps are all from Paper Artsy and can be found in the That's Crafty Store

And then I painted them with Fresco Acrylic Paint

I added some snow and and some snowflakes

Once it was dry I then painted over it all with my background colour which again is the Fresco Acrylic from Paper Artsy

Once it was all dry I applied cosmic shimmer dries clear glue around the edges and base put them in position and held them together for a few minutes and then set it aside to dry.

I think it is a pretty decoration to look at and with a electric candle inside it makes it glow beautifully

I cannot wait to see what you get up to, so have fun. I'll see you later hugs Debs xxx
