Car Crash

As a lot of you already know I go into a car crash last weekend. Luckily no one got hurt. I have had a bunch of people ask what happened so here's the story....

I was driving home from work down 45th south going about 40 miles an hour when all of a sudden a 17 year old girl that was parked on the side of the road pulled out trying to flip a U-turn. I literally had only a few feet to react. Her car was perpendicular to mine and I was headed right at her! Luckily I was paying attention and was able to swerve enough to miss "T-boning" the driver of the other car and hit the front of her car instead. I almost missed her completely but I couldn't not clip her front end, I just didn't have enough time to get out of the way. I don't want to even think about what could've happened if I would have hit her straight on. The police officer said to me "it's a really good thing you were paying attention enough to swerve otherwise this could've been tragic for someone" ...yikes! I just thank my Heavenly Father that no one got hurt, especially my little one!!! I was pretty shaken up for a while but other than that no harm done. My car on the other hand didn't make it out so good, but at least the other drivers insurance is paying for it. Luckily the driver behind me stayed and acted as a witness. He was a really nice guy, I wish I got his name so I could send him a thank you card or something! The crash happened right by my parents neighborhood and a few minutes after it happened my cute little brother came riding by on his bike. I told him he was like my guardian angel :) Dave was on his way but it was really great having C.J. there right after it happened to keep me calm. About 20 minutes later my parents drove by and stopped so I had a lot of people there helping me. Also, thanks to my friend Trevor and to Danielle & Barrett who also stopped to see if I was ok. If I have learned anything from this it is to really pay attention behind the wheel. I am so glad I was not on my cell phone or distracted in any of the other ways I often am otherwise who knows what would have happened!

Dave snapped a picture of me with my poor car. My "pouty" face definitely needs work though! The damage doesn't look too bad in this shot at least. I am still waiting to hear back from the shop just how bad it is. We know the radiator was leaking but couldn't tell if there was damage to the engine or anything. (Thanks Dad for lending me your coat)

"Wicked" & Easter

We had a very fun and eventful Easter weekend this year. On Saturday we went to see Wicked at the Capitol theater. Dave's cute Mom got us tickets months ago and then she ended up getting the flu so she couldn't go. We were so sad she couldn't come! Luckily Adam called Jenny (his friend/girlfriend, I don't know Adam are we calling her girlfriend yet? ha ha) and she was able to go so the four of us went. It was by far the best musical I have ever seen! It was just as amazing as everyone says it is! I am seriously obsessed now. I have been listening to the soundtrack constantly. If any of you get the chance to go while it is here don't pass it up. We forgot to take pictures of us (I remembered when we got in the car, oh well) but here are some of the show to give you an idea of what it's like.

Donna Vivino who played Elphaba (a.k.a the Wicked Witch of the West) in my opinion stole the show although they were all incredible.

The Easter festivities continued with the traditional Easter buffet at Willowcreek with the DeMills then a yummy Sunday Easter dinner at my parents. It was such a great weekend! My favorite part of course is seeing all the kids in their darling Easter outfits. Dave makes fun of me cause I really do look forward to it every year, I am silly I know. Plus Primary is so much fun on Easter we even did an egg hunt and everything. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

Palm Springs

Well since the baby announcement kinda trumped our Palm springs post here it is.

Our week in Palm Springs was absolute heaven!!! Dave finished a round of classes before we left which meant drum roll please.... he didn't have anything to study for an entire week! This means I got 100% of his attention, yay! Dave's Grandma Lennox and her husband Bill live down there in a beautiful condo on a golf course. Bill is currently selling his house close by and they were nice enough to let us stay there. We were thrilled to have our own place for the week although we did spend the majority of our time over at their country club golfing or hanging out by one of the many pools. The first night we were there they were nice enough to take us to see Mamma Mia at the local theater. It was fun to see again. We saw it in Vegas last year but this was a different cast so it was a change. They seriously spoiled us the rest of the week with lots of fun dinners out, great shopping spots, free rounds of golf (the best kind there is of course) and Lennox was sweet enough to even get me a private lesson with a pro our last day there. He worked wonders for my swing! It was such a peaceful and relaxing week. It was so much fun to just be with Dave and not have a care in the world! On the way home we decided to stay in Vegas for a couple of days. It was fun because it's almost like we had two mini vacations.

The country club. Isn't this such a nice change from yucky Utah snow!?!?!

The club house
Me posing with my ball that I actually hit on the green from my drive (that rarely happens so we had to document it)

Pretty much on our backporch was a grapefruit tree so every morning Dave would go pick us fresh ones for breakfast. They were incredible!
Dave at the Living Desert, its a great nature preserve and zoo. They had some fun animals and a very large and intricate train set. We had so much fun exploring we forgot to take many pictures. oops

Day in L.A. & Price is Right Nonsense
As I previously mentioned we planned on going to L.A. to get on the Price is Right. We were all excited, got our shirts ready and drove the 2 hours to L.A. The way the ticketing for the show works is that even if you got tickets online you still have to show up early to get what they call an order of arrival pass. They overbook the show to ensure it's full (lame). So we got there and got our pass and we were #225 and #226. I knew that the theather seats 325 so I thought we would be fine. They told us to come back in a couple hours for "processing" so we went and shopped around the fun mall next door and had a yummy lunch at the Cheesecake Factory then we went back to check in. The way they do things (which again I think is lame) is that groups of 15 or more automatically get in as long as they call ahead of time for tickets. They don't even have to come get a pass. Unlucky for us there were a few big groups one with 85 people so we got the boot! I was so mad, it's just not fair!

After I cooled down we decided to go and have a fun day anyway and to be honest I am almost glad we didn't get in because we had the best time in the city! First we went and explored Beverly Hills. We went to the famous Rodeo drive of course then we followed one of those tour buses that takes you to Stars houses up into BelAir. Yes, we are too cheap to buy a tour so we followed them to find the good stuff :) We both love architecture so we spent hours driving through the gorgeous hills looking at all the amazing houses then we headed down to the Santa Monica pier and spent the evening by the beach watching the sunset. It couldn't have been a better afternoon. I guess I have the stupid people at The Price is Right to thank.

Cheesecake factory
Dave hanging out in Pottery Barn kids. He was a good sport to come look with me!

As we were walking into the mall said to Dave "maybe we will see someone famous" Just then I looked and I saw Barbara Alyn Woods from One Tree Hill. Dave was laughing at me cause I just stared at her as she walked by. I guess I am one of those crazy starstruck types. We also saw another guy that I know I have seen on tons of movies but I can't remember his name! If I remember I will post a picture but it's hard to search without a name.
Rodeo DriveDave's favorite thing he saw on Rodeo Drive, he was definitely more entertained by this guy than all the clothes.
We voted this house the one with the best pool it overlooks a beautiful valley.

Santa Monica Pier. It has been used in more films than any other.
We had to go on the ferris wheel of course!

Vegas!!!

Our time in Vegas was short but we had a blast. We spent a lot of time relaxing and exploring the city. The first night there we went our to dinner and explored a little then went back to watch B-ball, c'mon it is March madness! The next night we went to see Cirque de Solei's Love. It was an amazing show! The music is all Beatles and the acrobats are extremely talented. I don't know how they do it!

Enjoying ice cream at the Bellagio buffet

The week was incredible and the only thing that was nice about coming home was getting to tell everyone our news, otherwise there is a chance we might never have come back!

Another Dave Post!

I need a study break so I thought I would post something on the old blog.

First of all, Natalie has been the coolest pregnant lady ever. She's always so chipper, even when she is sick. I wish I had that quality, when I am feeling sick I can get somewhat cranky. One of the only times I've ever seen her get really angry during the last 3 months is at the TV, when 24 decided to ax (or is it axe?) one of our favorite characters. She vowed to boycott the show, but when her hormone fueled rage cooled, she came to her senses and got excited for the next episode.

Secondly, I have been studying a ton for med school, and oddly enough our bed has become one of my favorite study spots. The reason I mention this is that lately Natalie has been coming up and sleeping at the foot of the bed while I study. She came home from the gym the other day and just crashed at the foot of my bed for a quick nap. It's like I have my own little pet! She even makes cute little noises while she sleeps, like a real pet would do.

Last thing, when we do have a kid, I am definitely getting our kid an outfit like the one below. Should keep our wood (actually laminate) floor nice and sparkly. If anyone knows where I can get one, let me know!

Do you think it would be wrong if I gave the little baby some caffeine (a Red Bull, perhaps), put some floor cleaner on the outfit, and let him/her go wild?
