On Tuesday, April 28, 2015, we attended the open house at Oliveira, the elementary school the kids attend. Peter was in Miami Beach for the week, so I took all 5 kids all by myself. First we spent some time in Emily's classroom learning about birds... specifically robins, which is what she did a project on this year. Then we headed over to Josh's classroom. He showed us around for a grand total of about five minutes and then we headed out. Nick managed to scoot out the door before anyone else while there was still a flow of people heading in. I wasn't too worried. We were at school and everything is always plenty safe there. However, when I got out of the class myself, probably not even a minute later, he was nowhere to be seen. My initial response was to say a prayer, so I did. Normally, I would have probably asked for help in finding him. But I didn't. I believe that the Holy Ghost inspired me to pray for something more specific. Instead, I asked that my Heavenly Father would bring Nick back to me. As soon as I was done praying, the other kids volunteered to go run around and look. They ran off before I could suggest that they meet me back where we were and that they should wait for me if I wasn't there when they got back. So, I felt like I needed to stay put. I wasn't too worried, I just didn't know where to begin to look and I couldn't go anywhere. One of my friends, Leona Broberg, noticed that I was missing someone, so she started looking with me. Then just a few short minutes after all this started, I looked up, and around the corner walked another friend of mine, Jeanna Ward. She was holding Nick's hand. She saw him walking backwards toward the road and noticed that she didn't see me, so she asked him to come with her and find me. In doing so, she was the answer to a very specific prayer that I had said just moments before. I know that the Lord answers our prayers. Sometimes, if we are open to the inspiration from the Spirit, He will let us know what we should pray for. Sometimes his answers come in ways we hope or even expect, but many times, they come at times and ways that surprise us. BUT, the answers always come.
