194. hopefully, madonna is recession proof

according to billboard, madonna is adding about 25 more shows to her already damn successful sticky and sweet tour.

after already grossing over us$280 million in only 58 shows and setting a world record for having the highest grossing tour by a solo artist, she either probably decided to 乘胜追机, or realised that record sales are declining so seriously that she needed to tour to earn more money.

judging from her sales now, she should probably be able to rake in over us$400 million in 80+ shows, making the sticky annd sweet tour the 2nd highest grossing tour of all time.

NOW:
highest grossing tours of all time
grossings shown in us$

1) rolling stones - a bigger bang tour - $558,255,524 in 147 shows
2) u2 - vertigo tour - $389,047,636 in 131 shows
3) the police - the police reunion tour - $350,000,000 in 152 shows
4) rolling stones - voodoo lounge tour - $320,000,000 in 130 shows
5) rolling stones - licks tour $312,000,000 in 117 shows
6) madonna - sticky & sweet tour - $280,000,000 in 58 shows
7) bon jovi - lost highway tour - $241,400,000 in 99 shows
8) bruce springsteen - the rising tour - $221,500,000 in 120 shows
9) madonna - confessions tour - $194,754,447 in 60 shows
10) cher - living proof: the farewell tour - $192,600,000 in 325 shows

FUTURE:
highest grossing tours of all time
grossings shown in us$

1) rolling stones - a bigger bang tour - $558,255,524 in 147 shows
2) madonna - sticky & sweet tour - $400,000,000 in 83 shows
3) u2 - vertigo tour - $389,047,636 in 131 shows
4) the police - the police reunion tour - $350,000,000 in 152 shows
5) rolling stones - voodoo lounge tour - $320,000,000 in 130 shows

9) madonna - confessions tour - $194,754,447 in 60 shows
10) cher - living proof: the farewell tour - $192,600,000 in 325 shows

after her tour ends she would probably receive a paycheck of over us$100 million, breaking her own record as the highest paid female singer.

193. Why Kelly Clarkson will never defeat the queens and princesses

Since I have nothing to post, and xujun posted an @ at me, I shall reply to him with further elaboration in this post. Ok, anyway I’m going to tell you why Kelly Clarkson will never defeat the queens and princesses.

@ Xujun: You probably won’t read this long crap, but the need to knows are all bolded.

The queens I would be talking about are Madonna, Queen of Pop aka. So damn many ranging from Her Madgesty to Dita, and Mariah Carey, Queen of R&B aka. Mimi. I shan’t include Cher or Whitney Houston or Aretha Franklin cause I’m not all that familiar with them. Then for princesses, I’m going to talk about Britney Spears, Princess of Pop aka. Britney Bitch. I shan’t mention Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Rihanna or anyone else you can think of because they are probably not successful enough to qualify as a princess.

Let’s start with the princess first. Britney Spears is 27 years old and has been singing, or I would say, selling sex for 10 years. She is arguably the most successfully artist of this decade, selling over 85 million records worldwide. But from her fantastic album sales, it’s really hard to imagine that she has only had 2 Billboard no.1 singles, namely “…Baby One More Time” and “Womanizer”. Talking about her albums, she has had 5 Billboard no.1 albums, and the only act in Soundscan (since 1991) history to have 4 albums debut at no.1 with over 500,000 in sales. Can Kelly Clarkson do that? The answer is NO.

Kelly’s chance of defeating Britney: -100%

For our dear Mimi, she’s 38 years old and once fired from a job as a hat checker, probably because she destroyed something for singing too high notes. She has sang for 18 years and sold nearly 200 million records worldwide. She’s the most successful female artist of the 1990s and has had 18 Billboard no.1 singles and 6 Billboard no.1 albums. Kelly Clarkson’s only sold 20 million records worldwide in 7 years, so do you think she can defeat Mariah? Obviously not. And can Kelly Clarkson sing so well like her? No. Can she hit high notes like her? No. And Mariah can also make a comeback from being a lunatic, but can Kelly do so? I don’t know and don’t think so.
Also, so what if Kelly Clarkson jumps 96 places to no.1, can she debut at Hot 100 no.1? No. Can she debut at Hot 100 no.1 more than once? Dream on. Can Mariah do so? Yes, and she did.
Also on a sidenote, Mariah Carey’s lambs are totally sickening. They can turn 25 million albums sold for Music Box to 35 million, and 18 million sold for Daydream to 25 million.

Kelly’s chance of defeating Mariah: -500%

Why I actually talk about Mimi and Britney is because if Kelly can’t even go close to defeating Britney, do you think she can defeat Madonna?
Madonna is 50 years old and has been selling sex in the pretext of singing for 25 years. Despite not having good vocals, she can still become the world’s best selling female artist with over 300 million in record sales. She is the most successful female artist of the 1980s. She has had 12 no.1 Billboard singles because she decided to destroy her chart streak with an anti-American “American Life”. But she has the most no.2 and top 10 Billboard singles by any artists, and the most top 5, top 20, top 30 and top 40 Billboard singles by any female artists. She also has 7 Billboard no.1 albums, behind only Barbara Streisand’s 8.
And of course, Madonna had her down moments, by being overly sexual (Erotica and SEX) or overly political (American Life), but she definitely wouldn’t be a lunatic after being divorced or out of love. She’s been raped before and had 2 unwanted pregnancies but she still lives happily. She is the richest woman in music and has so many world records.
So can Kelly:
1) set a world record by having an album debut at no.1 in 29 countries? No.
2) set a world record by having the above album hit no.1 in 40 countries? No.
3) set a world record by having a single from the above album hit no.1 in 45 countries? No.
4) once set a world record of “Highest Grossing Tour by a Female Artist” by grossing US$194.8million in only 60 shows? No.
5) set a world record of “Highest Grossing Tour by any Solo Artist” by grossing over US$280million in only 58 shows, and breaking her above record? No.
6) set a world record for being the richest woman in music? No.
7) set a world record by earning US$72 million in a year? No.
8) set a world record for being most successful female recording artist of all time? No.
9) set a world record by having the highest selling female compilation album? No.
Other than the world records, Madonna reinvents herself constantly to stay relevant and dominant in the music scene. She also made MTV famous by just rolling around on the stage in it’s first year of the show. She also makes the most groundbreaking music videos, holding the no.1, 4 and 5 spot on the top 10 of the most groundbreaking music videos. And she also posts the most entries on the top 100 music videos of all time in any charts.
She made remix albums famous by releasing “You Can Dance” in 1987. Her influence in music can also be seen in artists like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry etc. as they follow in her footsteps of combining music and sex and gaining huge fame and success.
Madonna is also a shrewd business woman. She has had a record label, Maverick, which earned over US$1 billion under her control, more than any other recording artists’ label. She has also recently signed a US$120million deal with Live Nation, a lot more times more than Kelly Clarkson can possibly get. Madonna has also generated academic interest, and the study of her is called Madonna Studies.
So can Kelly Clarkson still live happily after being raped and having 2 unwanted pregnancies? Not at all. Can Kelly Clarkson be at the forefront of music? Not with Madonna in the race. Can Kelly Clarkson ever be famous enough to generate academic interest? No.

Kelly’s chance of defeating Madonna: -∞%

What does this show? Kelly Clarkson will never be in or come near the league of these super-ultra-mega stars

192. mimi probably isn't emancipated after all

once again out of nothingness to post, i shall talk to you about karaokeparty again, which i outshone my previous results.

after dropping to no.12 for 4 minutes, i sang monotonously back to position no.10, which is luckily a nice number, not some sort of imbalance number ending with 1, 4, 6 or 9. true, i haven't reached top 5, which my aim claims, but i believe it won't be far.

and for we belong together, after being kicked out of top 50, i rosed over 20 positions to gain a nice nice number called 30. again, not some imbalanced number. and this time, i reached my aim of top 30. just nice.

as for when you believe, i was interrupted again as always before i could finish this song.

the first 3 times i wanted to sing this song:
1st time: grandma interrupted.
2nd time: mum called back.
3rd time: grandma interrupted. again.
4th time: finally sang it full
5th time: the one i sang today but was bloody interrupted again.

190. you can sing... for inspiration

continuing from karaoke party on my last post, i successfully squeezed myself to all time no.48 for we belong together

but sadly im pushed to no.50. but on a brighter side, i rose 19 positions to no.11 in singing 4 minutes.

my next targets would be:
- 4 minutes top 5
- we belong together top 30
- when you believe top 50

188. chinese new year in a more boring year

obama's inauguration is tomorrow.

chinese new year this year seems quite boring and not lively at all. this is probably because chinese new year comes too early, in january. the ideal date should be mid february, so that there's enough time to get into the mood for such a great festive season to slack.

187. question of the day: megapixel of a human eye

i just suddenly taught of this question today and finally this is one question which i have an answer for.

8) how many megapixels is a human eye?

ans: 576 megapixels. ooh, thats damn huge.
the explanation's below, taken from http://www.clarkvision.com/imagedetail/eye-resolution.html

How many megapixels equivalent does the eye have?

The eye is not a single frame snapshot camera. It is more like a video stream. The eye moves rapidly in small angular amounts and continually updates the image in one's brain to "paint" the detail. We also have two eyes, and our brains combine the signals to increase the resolution further. We also typically move our eyes around the scene to gather more information. Because of these factors, the eye plus brain assembles a higher resolution image than possible with the number of photoreceptors in the retina. So the megapixel equivalent numbers below refer to the spatial detail in an image that would be required to show what the human eye could see when you view a scene.

Based on the above data for the resolution of the human eye, let's try a "small" example first. Consider a view in front of you that is 90 degrees by 90 degrees, like looking through an open window at a scene. The number of pixels would be
90 degrees * 60 arc-minutes/degree * 1/0.3 * 90 * 60 * 1/0.3 = 324,000,000 pixels (324 megapixels).
At any one moment, you actually do not perceive that many pixels, but your eye moves around the scene to see all the detail you want. But the human eye really sees a larger field of view, close to 180 degrees. Let's be conservative and use 120 degrees for the field of view. Then we would see
120 * 120 * 60 * 60 / (0.3 * 0.3) = 576 megapixels.
The full angle of human vision would require even more megapixels. This kind of image detail requires A large format camera to record.

186. ez-erp

i was reading the chinese newspaper yesterday and i saw a shocking horrifying news: 意难忘 (the channel 8, 4.30pm taiwanese drama) has a total of 872 episodes. my god, 872? and they said it's set to end by october this year. and then we would finally be emancipated from the drama that has started since we were in sec 1, mid year. wow, 2 and half years already, and they are at the 3rd generation.

anyway, i have a wonderful suggestion.

sometimes we might forget to tap our ez-link card when we board the bus. so if we have something like erp installed, we will never worry about it.

but then you might be thinking about the fat erp card reader we might need to carry around. so i think that if we have an erp system which can work like the ez-link card reader, making the scanner 100 times more powerful than the current ez-link card reader, then we do not need a card reader.

also you might be thinking what if you hold two cards in your bag or wallet. then serve you right loh, the reader will tap twice. hopefully a card holder can be invented such that it can block out the scanner, preventing it from being scanned.

since this idea is derived from erp, i decide to call my idea ez-erp.

185. ba/na/na split

discovery of the day: banana (the meat) is made up of 3 segments.

so i was eating bananas, and then i realised that you can naturally or with just a little force, split the banana into 3 from the top of it. therefore, banana split should be made into 3 segments instead of the usual 2 segments.

hmm, i wonder if anyone noticed it, or maybe i'm the world 1st to discover it, while playing with my fruit. at least i wasn't hit on my head by a banana that fell from the tree.

anyway school's starting to get lame, other than the fact that we were instructed to clap for her when chiucc speak english during chinese lessons, calling it "双语教学".

what's 邱五点 anyway? can someone from 2b 2007 enlighten me.
字要圆、方不可方、竖要直、雨露要均分 and one more which aaron doesn't know. what the hell does it mean?

183. rehearse bitch/else look

the flag-raising was such a fail today. induction was slow and the speaker was fast. thats why i say rehearse you bitches. else the speaker might as well turn around and look at the damn retardedly slow speed of the whole freashman ceremony and say the class accordingly, and not say the last class when there's still like 5 classes not moving yet.

and not to mention the fail commander who forgets his command line. die! screwing up the flag raising ceremony on the first day of school deserves a kick you out of whatever uniform group you are in penalty and several demerits. gg.

anyway, back to the first day of school. i have chosen once again a still not very ideal seat. although i can easily hear the teacher, and that the air-con doesn't blow at me, it's so damn difficult to look at the teacher when he/she is 90 degrees to my left. i mean i'm sitting in the most front row, and that shortie siewyp has to stand 90 degrees to my left. by next year, my neck will be twisted. anyway no matter where i choose, i still have a lot of difficulties. like last year, i sit at the back and i can't hear the teacher well, same for sec 1. therefore i am going to wisely choose a seat for next year.

the rest of the day is nothing fantastic, just having assembly, a class goal setting stuff which never will be fulfilled, and some resolution thingy which luckily i have thought of it in post 182, so i'm able to comfortably say one. and also we were occasionally bored by siewyp's "inspirational stories" and stories based on true accounts and past experiences etc. and we had to recite "we are the best students in hwa chong", what a motivational teacher... right...
