Happy Birthday to 

Daphne  She is ELEVEN years old today!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Daphne's littermate Chloe passed away in 2013.  They were very close, and it has been tough for Daphne without her sister.
We wanted to remember Chloe along with Daphne this year, and show everyone how close they were.
We are wishing Daphne a very Happy Birthday, and remembering Chloe always in our hearts. Here is how they looked the first night they were adopted, when they were eight weeks old:

Thanks to everyone who commented on our post about Chloe the other day.
We greatly appreciate your comments.
Several people remarked on the frame/graphic in the post, and we neglected to say that we'd gotten that from Loonapix, a free photograph graphic site online.

Happy Gotcha Day to Daphne and Angel Chloe This year, of course, is bittersweet.
Chloe passed away a few weeks ago,
just before her seventh Gotcha Day.
Every day with Chloe was a blessing,
and I continue to count my blessings with Daphne in my life.
These were the first pictures I took of them when they came to their Forever Home, seven years ago today.
They break my heart now,
because losing Chloe is still so raw to me.
And today, I'm going to pick up her ashes.
But I have to remember the good times.
The smiles, the laughs, the purrs.
And the love.
That love for my Angel Chloe will never dissipate,
 My love for Daphne continues
as we both continue to grieve
and as we miss our special calico rose. ♥ Not The Mama

Today at the Tabby Cat Club, they are hosting an event called "What's In A Name?" where they are asking to know the origin of our names.  Daphne and Chloe were originally supposed to be called Elizabeth and Mary, but those names didn't really fit.  Can you imagine Daphne as a Betty?  Chloe as Mary?


After searching for some names that were more unique and more fitting, the focus of the name search was on Chloe's calico beauty.  Names like Callie and Cleo were bantered about, until Chloe was decided upon.  Researching for famous Chloes in duos led to discovering music for the operetta "Daphnis and Chloe."  The music wasn't very appealing, and the story didn't exactly fit (ancient Greek kids abandoned in the wilderness, raised as shepherds, almost get raped and abducted by pirates, then find love with each other), but the name Daphnis was adopted to Daphne, and that's how Daphne and Chloe got named.

Thank you all for the comments and condolences this past week, for Chloe's passing.  Chloe wouldn't want me to be sad, she was always the one who knew when I was sick or not feeling well or unhappy - she'd come and lie next to me and purr, and help me with whatever was making me feel bad.  She and I had an empathic connection, and she was there for me so many times over the years, I could not count the times she made me feel better.  I will always remember her so fondly for that, and I will miss that terribly.  I still can't believe she's not waiting in the sink for me every morning, when I get out of the shower.


But she was always trying to make me feel better, and now I have to try to feel better for her.  She did not suffer in the end, she went peacefully, with me there telling her I love her, and that her iDaddy loves her, and that her sister Daphne will always love her.  What more can any of us ask, but to go peacefully and to be loved.
Thank you all for reaching out to me, and to Eyad, and to let us know that you, too could empathize with our loss, and let us know that we are loved, too.
We will always miss our sweet grumpy, stubborn Chloe.
May she rest in peace.

Chloe collapsed suddenly today, and was rushed to the vet.  She didn't make it.

Hello!  My sister Choe and I just recently had our birthday,  so it was about seven years ago  that our Daddy Mo found out his friend Kathleen's kitty  was going to have babies! When Mommy Mari had her kittens,  He was right there with his camera! Here's 13 pictures from that time for us to share with you!
The first picture is of Mommy Mari and all us kids  (there are six of us!)   -- everyone says that I look just like Mommy Mari,  and sometimes I get called Mini Mari. Galahad is our brother.   He's the ginger tabby -- the only boy, and the only ginger!   Can you see who is  to Galahad's right in this picture?

That's right!  It's our little Chloe! She was the only calico. So there's 1 ginger, 1 calico and four terrific tabbies! (one of those tabbies is me - Daphne!) Here's Chloe's first close-up!

We grew quick, and liked to wrestle with each other. Especially with Galahad!

But sometimes, sister to sister tabby wrestling is the best!

After a hard day of wrestling, it's nap time! Do you see Chloe? We think that's the back of my head under Chloe's chin.

We sure grew up quick. Soon it was time for me and Chloe to go live at our Forever Home with Daddy Mo. Our four siblings still live with Kathleen. ♦ You've already seen Galahad, so... here's our sisters: This is Macaroni:
