tired

its been so long since i posted on our blog.. its been a really tiring and hectic two or three weeks. i never knew being an exchange student can be as hectic as a normal student. sigh.. i went to the rockies and it was really nice. i really loved that place so much. but it was so cold i think i wore about 4 sweaters. then i realised all my sweaters were too thin. i just bought a nice white thick jacket that will last me through winter. well they said last yeat by this time it started snowing. but not it hasnt. so its hotter compared to last year. i wanna see the place covered with snow. i know it will be nice even though it will be damn cold.. i have been pretty laxy to post up photos cause uploading it one by one takes up a lot of time. i just have so many things to do- quizes, mid term, projects... this sucks.. i wanna go on a holiday... i am bored of studying..

The Babies!

Day 11, mama mimi taking a break, while the little ones scramble around wildly without sights!

Day 10, Babies sleeping soundly on mama mimi's tummy.

Papa momo left alone in another cage. He's still able to enjoy a peanut or two.

Day 8, One of the babies learning how to crawl.

Day 9, One of the babies grabbing a bite of solid food.

Day 8, The little ones fighting to get a bite of mama mimi's nippi.

Day 5 night, when i came back from taiwan. A nest has been built around the little ones by mama mimi.

Yeah, finally mimi and momo made it to become mama mimi and papa momo. The sad thing is papa momo has to be separated while mama mimi brings up the babies until they are old enough to take care of themselves.

Also, initially mimi has given birth to 8 babies. 3 died...perhaps due to lower survivability. The rest of the babies are now growing strong! They look all alike and pinky during the first 5-7 days and started growing thin layer of fur on day 8. 5 of them, 2 are growing white fur, 2 are growing brown fur with diamond-shape pattern at the forehead and 1 of them is greyish brown.

It's already day 12, they're still like "blind mice" without sight. Hopefully they can see in a few days time, then i can separate the kids from the parent soon. They've been squeaking quite a bit these few days when they dont get fed by mama mimi. Mama mimi got to bear with the problem. Now i understand how parents suffer when the kids are small, haha. Until now, no one can tell their sex yet, but i guess it should be a good mix. Maybe someone can offer to help name them soon?

Lastly...Dear, hope u're enjoying ur trip to the Rocky. Love ya much. Come back and look at the babies k.

qiang.

Carefree Days

A new toilet facility for mimi and momo. But they are using it as a bedroom.lol.

The look that indicates they want food.

Mimi as "super hamster". Momo also does that at times.
Mimi and momo are much more friendly and accustomed to humans now. Haha. Now even momo dont freaked out when i try to sayang him, instead they will intuitively sniff out the curious finger and think it is food.Keke.They did bit me at times but luckily not as hard as mimi did on dan until her finger bleed.
Looking forward for more pictures. I guess in another 3 weeks time i will have to separate mimi and momo because it's towards the end of mimi's gestation period. Hope i can be grand dad soon...haha.

weird...

the weirdest thing happen to me today. well, i was early and on my way to class when i stop to stare at this guy. after looking at him for a while, i realised that it was ben, my younger bro's primary school classmate whom i met when i was in singapore studying. i mean what are the chances of actually seeing someone you know at a place to unknown in canada. well, no one would actually come to calgary to study full time. its such a small city. wow. we were speechless for a moment man. haha. after that we chatted for a while then head to class.

kinesiology is a boring class. i cant believe i actually signed up for it. well, finally and i hope i wont change my mind. i am taking biology. hopefully it wont be a super killer subject. all i want is a pass. is it resally that hard? sienz... i really cant find anything that interest me at all. hopefully bio is not as bad as i remembered in secondary school. i dread bio everyday and was so happy when i dropped it. sigh. well, will update another time.

uni life

uni life here is slightly different. you know how you always see uni life in movies? its exactly like that. you dun see ppl sitting and lying on the grass in singapore but here, everyone just do that. ppl sit on grasses all over campus just to talk, listen to music, do their work and wait for classes.

i am not used to classes here. most of my classes are senior classes and they are really vocal. they voice out their opinions a lot. i mean ppl in singapore(most of the time) are usually so quiet in class but not here. they really pay attention here and contribute a lot. and they know A LOT of stuff. always thought i can slack around here but now, i dun think so. oh yeah my marketing course is interesting. well, there is this company sponsoring us and yup what we have to do is to sell their products. they are sponsoring about 10000cad so that we can advertise and promote at the same time sell their products. cool huh? you can never find that course in singapore.

qiang is away on sailing for a week and so i have not heard from him since sun. and so i am bored. i usually just end up playing games or watching movie or sleeping early. hope he comes back earlier so i can talk to him soon

everything here is so expensive. i bought 4 text book and it costs me about CAD350 here. its really crazy you know. i mean my marketing book costs me CAn170 and its less than 200 pages.

i pretty much try to eat at home and usually only spend on one meal outside. even so, its about cad8 just for lunch or dinner. its really expensive. seems like this will be a chance for me to really learn cooking and so next time when i am back in singapore, i dun have to go out and eat all the time.

ok, will stop now. till next time...

place where new year celebration is held in toronto. nice?
i cant remember what building this is in toronto

how careless of qiang not to even know that mimi was pregnant! i mean 7 babies wont be that hard to tell right? hmm... well, hopefully he will really be more careful next time. should make preparations already..

well, am in calgary now and school's starting in like 3 days time. dunno whether to feel excited or scared. I am so scared i have to study even harder. hopefully not. i mean cant beat singapore system right?? hopefully...

hmm havent been writing in my blog long but just to update.we toured toronto for a day and on 31st night(1st in singapore), sharon, bryan and i left for ottawa(bryan's place). we took a four hours bus and reached ottawa at an unearthly time(4:30am). well, luckily one of his frens was still awake and he came to pick us.

Ottawa is a nice and peaceful place. we took a river tour.. unfortunately my camera seems to lousy that it cant take good night photos. managed to take a few though not that clear..sienz...

One thing about canada is that its such a 'family country'. everything closes at 6pm on sat and 5pm on sun. so we didnt do much shopping at all. actually there is nothing much for you to do at night unless you go partying and clubbing. btw, calgary is even worse than toronto and ottawa. at least on weekdays, shopping centres in toronto and ottawa close at 9pm but here, its 6pm!!!

must really thank bryan for all the time he had spared just to bring him around. without him, we will never be able to take all the nice photos and see the beautiful creations of God. i am so glad i have a fren in canada that is willing to go all the way out to come toronto and tour around with us and even bring us back to his place.

too bad we missed going to montreal. had it all planned out but there were last min changes. will definitely come back to canada again when i am rich enough and am already working.

its getting pretty cold around here and i cant take it much longer. the wind is strong and my face and hands are constantly freezing. its so hard trying to buy a scarf so that i can cover my face. I mean of course you can find but it will cost me like 20overCAD just to get one. Not worth it man. think i am really going to suffer during winter.
dan

sad sad day

Mimi gave birth yesterday without anyone knowing. There was blood all inside the spinning wheel when my bro came home and in the wheel laid 6 dead baby bodies. 1 was spun out of the wheel and was found motionlessly on the shreddings. My bro tried to take the bodies from the cage, and when i came back i was devastated and shocked. The babies were still and seemed so innocent. I promise to take good care of mimi and momo and make sure the next babies will survive the ordeal. I read up on the internet and found that roboski's gestation period is around 23-30 days. I'll make sure the next time mimi is about to give brith, the newborns will survive!

Now mimi and momo seems to be enjoying their lives still like the mishap had never happened. Can you see how they're back to their daily fun-seeking routine again???

i really miss dear dear lots and am really so love sick right now. every where i go, i think of how nice it would be the share the moment with dear dear. However, for now i can only post pictures up to let him appreciate the scenaries ard.

the two days one night was a lifetime moment and i am so so glad i had the opportunity to visit the falls. i will make sure that one day dear dear and i will be there again together.

we took the maid of the mist to the waterfall and could just feel and taste the water. haha. it was really good. however, the sea (or lake) was polluted with (my guess) the oil that it really spoils the beautiful place. luckily(and i really hope) they clean up the place pretty often. I mean they are so rich i am sure they will.

oh the night when we were, there were fireworks and this was the closest ever i have seen. it was like right next to me. Niagara is so rich to have it three times a week during the summer holidays. look at the video to see half of it. the finale was fabulous.

we visited the casino too. but well, i am only looking forward to the las vegas one. niagara is a really really nice place. believe me, the real one is 1000x much better than seeing it in the photos and textbooks.
US was just across the rainbow bridge that we were all so tempted to just cross the border to shop at the factory outlet nearly. Moreover, we all had our passport at that time. But time did not permit us to go. So sad.
and dear dear, HAPPY ONE YEAR.... you forgot? I hope not... I miss u so so so so so much. love ya lots!!!
