Mistakes

So in my last post about Yellowstone, you will notice some mistakes. Well my computer wouldn't let me fix them, with out deleting other words. I am not computer savy so please disregard the mistakes.

Yellowstone 2010

We had the opportunity to take our kids and go to Yellowstone this fall. Of course we took them out of school for two days the first week of school. The reason we decided to go was because our niece Katie Crowther was nag married in the Winter Quarters Temple in Aug and we couldn't make it out there. So we found out that one of her receptions were Shelley Idaho. That isn't too far from Yellowstone. So off we went. We left after school on Wed and headed to Rock Springs WY. On our way, we stopped at the Flaming Gorge. That was a very cool. Then off to Rock Springs. We swam that night in a great pool that was really warm, and we were the only ones in it. That was the great part.

The next day we headed for Yellowstone. We stopped in Jackson Hole WY for lunch. We stopped at the visitor center. That was cool.
We stopped and looked at the Tetons on our way up to the park. After we entered Yellowstone, we came upon a sign that said "No stopping next 1/2 mile" and of course there were cars stopped. So we stopped. They were looking at a grizzly bear that was hurt, we think. It just laid down by the creek and moaned. Of course we took pictures.Tey didn't really turn out. Next stop was Old Faithful. That was fun.

We did have a flat tire at Old Faithful and it cost #38 to fix. Kind of blew my mind. We spent the night in the park in a tiny cabin. One we won't forget, but had a great breakfast at the lodge the next morning. We traveled around the park and saw lots of buffalo. We saw some on a bridge and Blake insisted we go toward them. Bad mistake. It really freaked me out. Needless to say, they didn't dent my van. We saw elk and deer, but never saw a moose. That is what Iwanted to see. We saw the falls and had a little problem there, but nobody was hurt too bad.

.
That night we stayed in West Yellowstone Montana. We went to the Grizzly Bear and Wolf Discovery Center. That was really cool. We got to see them feed the grizzlies. The kids loved that.
On Sat we headed to Rexburg Idaho. We left the girls with Anjeanette's parent while we went to the Temple. It is so beautiful. The boys did baptisms while we did a session. Then we showed the kids around Rexburg. It was awesome to be back. i loved Rexburg when I was there 20 some years ago. We then headed south to Idaho Falls. We stopped by the Temple and the Falls for a picture before headeing to the reception.
We made it to the recption without any problem. Katie was so pretty and Shane seems really nice. It was a nice evening. We left about 7pm and headed to Jackshouse in Castledale. It was a 6 hour drive. Luckily we had books on cds that the kids listened to. We got there about 1am. We went to church with them and trekked home. It was a fast trip, but so worth it. Thanks Katie and Shane for having a reception in Idaho, so we could go to Yellowstone.

Color Sunday

Color Sunday we went upon the Mesa. The leaves were just about perfect. After church I packed a picnic lunch and away we went. Because it was "Color Sunday" there were sooo many people up there. We stopped and hiked up to the trail of many lakes. It was beautiful. We took a few pictures and hiked down. We found us a nice place to eat our lunch. The weather was warm and so nice. I love the fall. It is my favorite time of the year.

They Boys of Fall Football Season #4

Well after Blake breaking his ankle last year in football, he wasn't going to play agian. Until the coaches came by the school in May. So here were are agian. I was excited for him to play. I have really gotten into football. I guess I am not a soccer mom, but a football mom. He has practice 4 nights a week and games every Saturday. We did miss the 2nd game so that we could go to Yellowstone, but we have been here for the rest. His is on the heavy weight team, but is one of the smallest weighing only 131. He did grow about 5inches since early spring making him 5 ft 7 inches, but didn't gain a thing. They have won 3 and lost 2. Only 2 more games to go before playoffs. Hopefully we can get a win with both. There is only 18 players on the team with 3 of them hurt. So that leaves just 4 on the sidelines during the game. Last week we played the Cowboys and lost. Blake was on the sidelines maybe 3 minutes of that game. These boys have had the same coaches for 4yrs. And this is the last year with them. It would be great if these boys made it to the Super Bowl. What a great way to end their middle school football. They boys of fall!!!!

Back to school

It has been sooo long since I blogged, so instead of playing catch up here I go with some of the latest happenings in the Rogers family.
The kids started back to school on Aug 23. Blake is in the 8th grade, Brady the 7th grade at Orchard Mesa Middle School. McKenna is 5th grade and Izzy 3rd grade at Dos Rios Elementary. Boy have these kids grown fast this summer. The girls were excited to wear their new outfits. It was sure fun shopping with them.

Izzy's Baptism

We were so excited for April 3 to come. That was Izzy's Baptism. We didn't venture to the Valley for this Baptism, as we have the others. Izzy picked the program and made all the right calls for her Baptism. We had some of our family come out for it.
Grandpa Gary, Joel and Anjeanette and their girls came. We were lucky enough to have Brittin, Taylor and Cindy stay with us on Tuesday night. They were headed for Utah so Brit could be in a wedding. It was so much fun. We do love company.
Joel drove Grandpa Gary's truck and brought grandpa, Anjeanette and the 3 girls. Joel said to have a project ready and he would help us. There were so many projects that I wanted done, but of course had just a short amount of time. Mark helped him put up all of our trim around the top of the walls in the living room and caulk all of them. Thanks Joel, they look great. We took the girls to the mall shopping and Joel and the guys went tree shopping. Joel got a couple of pine trees for his yard. Anjeanette helped get alot of the food ready for Saturday. After dinner on Friday night, we played Wii. Even grandpa got out there and tried.

Here is grandpa playing tennis. He played baseball and even bowled. He had a hard time trying to figure out how to release the bowling ball. Joel told him it was like casting a fishing pole. I think he finally got it. He thinks maybe he will buy one of those Wiis.

Joel and Anjeanette really had fun. I think Anjeanette beat Joel in jousting everytime. All the kids played too and had alot of fun.
On Saturday morning Bill and Mary came, along with Jack and Lorie and their three youngest girls. Also Kelly came all the way down too. Brittin, Cindy and Taylor got here right before the baptism.
The Baptism was wonderful. It was so good to have so many of our family here along with our Ward family. The talked were so good. Izzy's primary teacher talked on Baptism and Bishop Mantlo talked on the Holy Ghost. I took my camera so I could have pictures, and forgot to get pictures of everyone after the Baptism.

All of our Anderson family left right after the Baptism. But the Rogers family stayed. We all came back to our house. The men and some of the girls went shooting while Lorie, granMary and I rested. All of the guys went to Priesthood Session of Conference and the girls just relaxed and played Wii. They brought home ice cream for all fo us. Kelly left about 9pm and Jack and family left soon after. We were lucky enough to have granMary and grandpa Bill spend the night. They did leave quite early on Easter morning, but we were glad to have them that long.
The whole weekend went by so fast. It was wonderful! Something that I think Izzy's will always remember. We wished everyone could have come, but understand that is would have been hard for them. Thank you to everyone who came and helped and enjoyed the fun weekend we had.

GranMary and Kelly with Izzy.

I managed to not get a picutre of grandpa Bill, but we still love ya!
