I know, I know, you're probably surprised to see a new post here. But as you may have noticed, I gave the blog a bit of a makeover and I promise to start updating it more often. What better way to start than with a recap of our most fun May ever!
It kicked off with Gabrielle and Alaina's first plane trip. We headed to Florida to see Uncle Jason get his Master's Degree and take a little side trip to visit Mickey and Minnie. Here are the girls chillin' at Logan Airport, with no idea what's in store.
And their trusty backpacks were standing by.
The idea of flying with the kids had us slightly terrified but to our surprise, they were total naturals. Gaby spent the beginning of the flight studying the safety procedures before falling asleep.
While Alaina had some breakfast:
And then caught up on the lastest celebrity buzz.
Such a relief! They also did well sitting through not one, but two graduation ceremonies (okay, having DVD players and headphones helped a ton!). Here we are at the first one.
And here's Uncle Jason, proud Master's Degree holder with the Gator.
Usually trying to get a good family picture that includes two independent toddlers ends up something like this:
But the Gator must have magic powers because lo and behold:
Unfortunately, Jason couldn't make it to Disney but we headed to Orlando with Nonna and Tex for a few fun days at the park. Our first day, we had breakfast with the characters, which included everything Mickey - and I mean everything!
The girls LOVED hugging Minnie, Goofy and Donald, and even Jan and I got in on the act.
Here's Miss Gaby on the bus to the Magic Kingdom, so not amused by the fact that I applied her sunblock so heavily.
It gave Lainey a good laugh.
She later modeled the latest look in eye wear:
Disney!
We had a great time on the rides and checking out the attractions.
And Tex hit the stockade:
Jan and I even got to enjoy a night at Epcot sans kiddos. Look - the Eiffel Tower!
And our own little piece of Morocco.
Florida was fabulous but it was nice to be back in NYC for Mother's Day. Jan said we could do whatever I wanted that day so since we've never taken to girls to the Central Park Zoo, I figured a trip was in order.
As you can probably imagine, they LOVED it!
They adored the polar bears:
And barked at the sea lions:
They even stopped to pose during snack time, at least Gaby did:
But their favorite part was the children's area. They chased each other through the bunny tree.
Alaina did her best rabbit impression:
And Gaby got bunny kisses:
Look, it's a Lainey Turtle!
And the twins take on the turtle statue.
They even got to feed some animals.
After the zoo, we headed to the Carousel, another place the girls have never been. Gaby was clearly happy to ride with daddy.
Alaina, on the other hand, refused to give me a smile. Ah, the joys of the terrible twos!
So there you have a little bit about how we spent the month of May. I promise to update again before 2012....

The Bodyguard
Does this look like the face of a tough gal?
I didn't think so! But when a little boy at the play gym tried to hug Alaina today, Gaby grabbed him by the collar and threw him to the ground. And every time that little boy came back near Lainey, she'd scream until he left. I guess the Gabster doesn't like it when you mess with her sister!
How could you blame the kid, though, when Alaina was sporting her first set of pigtails?
I mean, really, does she look cute or does she look cute? Just don't go trying to hug her or you'll have to deal with you-know-who. Even in her own cute hairdo, you can tell she means business!
And yes, I know, it's a minor miracle to see the blog updated but I'm going to try my best to post at least once a week. The girls are changing so much everyday and I don't want to forget a minute of it!

POTD #45: February 15, 2010 - Goin' Graham
Gabrielle's newest quirk is that she won't leave her highchair until we give her a graham cracker.
Gotta love a girl who knows what she wants!
