Nancy, back with a Vengeance!

After my old video host deleted the previous clips, I've added new clips to show you Nancy Lam in ACTION!

Image Hosted by The Image Hosting

I can't resist. She's too funny. Who you ask? Nancy Lam of course! Again, Nancy Lam is the cooking extraordinaire and man-eater that our dear country exported to the UK, together with her Ghanaian Husband/Slave. You can catch her in action on channel 5 on weekdays 1230 PM, she will take you on a journey of oriental cookery! NANCY STYLE! HWAH HAHAHAHA! HAHAHA!

Sorry for the poor quality videos, they are actually videos of the TV taken with my camera. Hee.
Note: After my image host cracked up, my video host deleted my files! Crap! So sorry.

"...aren't they (the hapless fishmongers) good looking... as good looking as my fish..."

Ben gets a tongue-lashing. No, not the fun kind.

Nancy manhandles Ang Moh and sexually violates him.

But here's a new range of videos that do work

The intro. Watch out for the pineapples.

Nancy goes gaga over coconuts.

"Nancy's Boat Trip", the same one she made to procure her Ghanaian Husband/Slave?

One of my favourite lines of hers is during one of the endings. The running convention is that she tells (commands at the threat of death, really) her husband to say good bye to the viewers and he would say goodbye in a different language everytime.

For example,
NANCY: Say goodbye Ben!
BEN: 再见.
NANCY: That's in Mandarin! (end)

This particular episode's ending,
NANCY: Say goodbye Ben!
BEN: Goodbye Ben. (abrupt end)

God only knows what happened to Ben after that particular episode. I pray for him and you all know I don't pray often.

I must ask after viewing these videos: Is Nancy a particularly bad actress, or is she just insane?

Nandaiyo!?! Ichiban! Ichiban!

At the end of a week of work (which involved calling up the automated voice machines of various companies and listening to really wonky on-hold music [e.g. Chariots of Fire, no kidding. I'll elaborate in another entry]), what better activity than a nice dinner with friends at Ichiban Boshi, where the tea is free and the sushi comes to you.

I brought my camera, and since I have 512mb of memory and a resilient battery, the pictures I took will actually make up a nice animated flipbook. But since my image hosts are so ANAL! I have no choice but to condense and abridge.

Here are some of the highlights =)

CIMG0753
Sushi on a belt, the genius!

CIMG0751
Here, Huiru (Hwee Hwee, as I often address her by now) is talking animately about something. Notice how Audrey is applying her make-up and not listening, and I am busy taking this photo. You would think that Huiru must be talking to Glen except that he looks like this:

CIMG0752
'dot dot dot...'

Later following the dinner, Audrey left for another 'appointment' with someone else (wink wink nudge nudge), and that left Hwee Hwee, Glenda and I.

Glen and his 'dot dot dot' face again and the previous one for comparison.

CIMG0803
This is Glen's 'Am I cute?' Face. Or his 小猪 'Kia Kia' Face? Hmm... I can't really remember.

Some Images are down.

One of my many images servers are down. I'll try to fix it as soon as possible.

Goes to show when you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.
When you pay nothing, you don't even get Nancy.

Term 1 Yr 05-06 Redux

Hey all SMU friends, it's BOSS time again. To avoid the risk of being stuck with a class of weird-out people and weirder group mates, I feel some co-ordination is called for. So here is what I intend to take next term for sure, and what I'm considering.

Finalised (Pending BOSS Results):

Microeconomics B: Thursday Morning
Finance: Thursday Afternoon
Technology and World Change: Monday Afternoon G5
Applied Econometrics: Monday and Friday
Computer as an Analysis Tool: Friday Morning

Nikey is gloomy =(

After I put up that little video about my dog and received so much response from various friends, I realised an important transcendental truth: that my dog is cute and adorable, and I'm not.

So here's another video of him! In this one he's gloomy cos he had a bath today. He doesn't like baths.

Some desktop backgrounds I'm using now

As you all already know, I've been going wild with me camera. And thus far, besides my indolent dog and my remote controls, I've also taken some pictures of other stuff that I now use as desktop backdrops for my computer. Here they are. Follow the links for a version sized exactly for your screen. Well, unless you use a widescreen laptop, then you are screwed, har ha!

Ok the last one is admittedly not something you'd want to stare at on your computer for any prolonged amount of time (or even any amount of time at all for that matter). I just cheekily (yes, cheekily) slipped that in to inform you of our little known (little known in Singapore but apparently infamous in the UK) Singapore export to the United Kingdoms: Nancy Lam, cooking extraordinaire and man-eater. You can catch her in action on channel 5 on weekdays at 12.30 PM. Watch out for her Ghanaian 'husband' and the frightened English people she kidnapped to taste her 'satay'. It's such a joy to see our ex-colonial masters nod nervously as our dear Nancy interrogates them about the quality of her 'Singaporean Delights'.

STOMPAIDS Campaign: Sex by Proxy Ad

New draft:

Again comments =)

Hey Darling...

You did make some changes.. like I suggested...

But here's some more...

1) In typography, we don't normally ass PERIOD (.) after numerals...
This makes for DIFFICULT reading.

2) Watch for the grammar...
In this case, the WHOLE sparagraph is supposed to be ONE long... sentence.. You could do with some COMMAS .
And also, since the catch is (WHO IS A HIV CARRIER), you might want to make that a little more subtle. Font size or TINT (say, 80 to 100% would work fine).

3) I'd think that 'caption' paragraph should be smaller. If not, the dramatic SLOGAn that follows is lost.

4) the SLOGAn is logically 'unsound', so to say.
What you probably meant is,
"You may not have slept with a HIV carrier, but someone did."
that is a more POWERFUl message, agree?

5) Try to use FONTS within the family.
using colours is one way, but using ULTRABOLD or BOLD within the same FOTN family would be a great idea. You have used SANS serif (no hooks) fonts throughout... So you can do with more variety within the FOTN FAMILY.

6) With people's MTV generation attention span, the shorter the better.
I'd suggest
Protect Yourself
with A Condom.
Make sure you hae CAPS (no pun here) where needed.
In your original Y and U and A should be initial Cap.
As a rule, ONLY prepositions are uncapped usually.

7) The WEBSITE is neither here nor there.
Do you want it to be IMPACTFUL or do you want it to be more subtle.
Here, without a sense of grid... It is floating at the bottom.

Okay, here's the PERFECT 7 suggestions for you this time around.

it's better than the first one I saw..BUT needs more work.

- GUESS WHO!

JoyJoy's Birthday according to my camera!

We celebrated JoyJoy's birthday yesterday, it was a little (just a smidge... ok, 9 days, boo) belated. Anyway, this is the inaugural practical usage of my new camera! Religious readers of my blog (for example, me) will know that I had been taking inconsequential photos of various inanimate objects in my house (yes, most people who've seen my dog Nikey qualify him as inanimate as well, albeit an inanimate object that can ingest just about anything in any quantity). Thus, isn't it thoroughly refreshing to have pictures to see that don't involve my remote or the Snapple bottle on my desk! Whee, here goes:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This is what Jiamin ate for lunch earlier in the day. Yes, most people who've seen this photo have said it looks more like what Jiamin ate for lunch earlier in the day and then threw up later in the day. But no, it is indeed food. Tasty food too, I gather, considering it's from the 'good' and (inexplicably quite foggy) chicken rice stall atop Far East Plaza.

This is Celeste who had just arrived. Shortly after, we were attacked by a person trying to screw us over with a supposedly new genuine Calvin Klein fragrance, curiously called MK1 and offensively pungent. I knew what was coming all along but just wanted to know why my father actually bought one last month at the airport. Swindlers, these sales people. Tsk.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This is Celeste's lunch. Yup, my friends have a penchant for particularly gross-looking food. Celeste said this is nice too. I took her word for it.

The birthday girl, JoyJoy! She looks radiant and slightly orange in this photo. (bad white balance or jaundice?)

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
Jiamin's impression of a Piranha. Quite convincing actually. Kinda frightened Ronald.

This is our tau huey break after watching Monster-in-law, which was trite and contrived but ultimately mildy entertaining (Monster-in-law, not the tau huey).

Edit: This is JoyJoy in her natural hue.
