iBetter Exchange? You'd better be kidding.
The Zen Micro is out. And despite the fact that it is a good product no less, its marketing strategy is, like all previous Creative endeavours, rather sad. As part of their launch, they've actually included an offer for people to trade-in their iPods for Creative's Micro called the 'iBetter Exchange' programme.
Come on, 'iBetter Exchange'? I'd try not to puke if I can help it. Not that I wanna put down Creative's product because I'm a militant Mac user (well, besides that), but what a sad tagline.
And why is it that Creative can never make anything that isn't offensively obese? Their Zen 'Micro' is actually thicker than Apple's 60GB Photo iPod despite being smaller in width and height, so they emphasized.
Maybe they can have an ad campaign entitled: "Is that a Zen Micro or are you just happy to see me? Oh my, it glows too."
And talk about unbecoming behaviour of a CEO. Sim Wong Hoo, I know Apple's execs are a playful bunch but taunting is just plain immature not to mention extremely conspicuous. Just because you have a killer product that can totally trump your competitor's, doesn't mean you send them your sales figures complete with a post-it saying: 'nyah nyah nee nyah nyah'.
Maybe he could've benefited from some Marketing 101?
