Happy Birthday to our big 3-year-old!!

Logan turned 3 today! We had a pirate party with a just a few close friends and he was in heaven.

Pirate Faces:

They went fishing for treasures

In true, 3-year-old fashion, we had to take a break for some snacks!

After snacks we played "tape the eye patch on Jake," danced to some pirate music, did a pirate puzzle, and watched a clip of Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

Then we sang to Logan, ate cupcakes, and opened presents.

I'm so grateful he has little buddies who were excited to share his special day with him.

I can't believe he's 3.

While Dan is away, the kids and I must play

The title says it all. When Dan is away for work, the only way I can stay sane is to play. Yesterday we went to Target (my play time), the McDonalds playground, story time at the library, the park, and after their naps we went on a walk, picked up Cafe Rio, and had a picnic on our family room floor while we watched Monsters University. It was delightful.

Today has been a different story. Logan is sick, Claire has some major attitude, and I stayed up way too late watching my girly shows (another way to stay sane while Dan is gone) which means I'm tired. So, naturally, we took some pictures...??? Doesn't make sense, but it felt like playtime and put us all in a better mood.

^^This was taken right before....

..this happened.

So we switched to these props instead..

Oh, and this is where Dan is.. the poor guy..

Pumpkin Patch

Logan has a little crush. Her name is Penelope and she is one of the cutest things on the planet (right up there with my kids, of course). He loves going to "Nelope's" house even though she is barely a year and they don't really know how to play together. Now that I think about it, maybe he has a crush on Nelope's mom..? Hmmmm.

Anyway, we went to a pumpkin patch down in Santaquin for FHE last Monday, and the kids loved it!

Logan and "Nelope"

We'll pretend he is showing love to his sister, although I'm pretty sure he's just trying to squeeze her as hard as he can.

My handsome boy

I love this picture.

Penelope looks scared!

Picture-perfect

Not-so-picture-perfect. This is the best shot we could get.

Claire falls and..

...Claire cries. That cycle happened a few times while pumpkin picking

I love this picture because of Claire's face, and because of Savannah's hair. Isn't it awesome?! I wish I could do cool braids like that.

Camping

We did it! We finally went camping with both kids!

Logan was a champ. He is a natural born camper.

When we went for a hike, he was skipping the whole way.

When we set up the tent, he was right there to "help you" whenever we needed it.

When we started the fire, he sat back in his little camping chair and relaxed to the sound of the crackling wood.

When it was time to go to bed, he went down without a sound.

Claire, on the other hand, not so much.

When we went hiking, she decided to sit in the dirt. And eat it.
The boys waiting for Claire as she joyfully plays with rocks and dirt.

When we set up the tent, she was off trying to get into the fire pit.
This is us trying to contain her for a picture.

When we started the fire, she wanted to step right into it.

When it was time to go to bed, she screamed. When we all finally fell asleep, she woke up and wanted to play.

So, I took her home at 3am.

At least she's cute.

Dan bought this AMAZING camping highchair a couple of years ago. SO perfect this little go-getter who can't sit still for 5 seconds.

  Beautiful shot.
