may's a wrap . . .

One of the things we most look forward to following our two weeks with the Campers on Mission?

A week of VACATION!

This year we found a terrific spot on Lake Guntersville.  Nice house ... but even nicer boathouse.  LOL!
The things that are important, right?  It was a (relatively) quick boat ride from the marina to the house, so I dropped Todd off and he came via water, while I went by land.

It really was a love week on the water.  Still a little cool -- so I didn't do a lot of swimming (though I did enjoy a thorough soak in the hot tub)!
Todd fished, fished some more, cleaned fish, and fished again.  Me, on the other hand, I rode, read, and ... I can't think of another activity that begins with an "r".  (Creativity is hard when you're back logging your life.) I stitched.
I got the Picnic Quilt quilted!  Well, the tying part, anyway.  After looking at it, I think I'll probably go back and stitch in the ditch the center and the border, for stability.  It may have disastrous results, but oh well.

It was a really relaxing, lovely week.  Our standard practice is that Todd gets up and goes out early.  We're talking before sunrise early -- he likes to be on the water as the sun comes up.  I, on the other hand, prefer to be on the deck with a cup of tea and my journal about an hour AFTER the sun makes its appearance.
I may or may not go out mid-morning ... it depends on where he's gotten to.  We have a big meal at mid-day, and then I'll pack sandwiches and snacks and we'll stay out on the water until after dark!  It works swimmingly well! ♥
I seriously could live on the lake.  Oh yeah.

We did take one day and lock through the dam (to get to the other side).
It's such an eerie, but cool process!

Before we left (we did Sunday to Sunday), we already booked for 2022.  We'd buy this place if the owner ever decided to sell!!

fun days . . .

Not a lot going on in the Nook these past two weeks.  We've got Campers on Mission in the camp for their annual work.  This year they've been working on a new bathhouse for the camp.  It's so exciting watching it come together . . .
Isn't that great?!  They've worked so hard for these last two weeks.  I am so excited for the benefit this adds to the camp! ♥  Speaking of the camp, one of the COM wives knew I sewed/quilted, and look what she made me:
Awesome, right?  That was so kind of her to remember me that way.  :)

Last week we attended the end-of-year program for the girls' Classical Conversation group, and they were so darling!
I'm so glad we're close to them and can attend things like this.  I miss our California crew (pictured here, camping in the wilds) . . .
They're coming to visit at the end of June and I can. not. wait!!!

I had a GREAT Mother's Day!  We went to church and one of the gals I mentor gifted me with this beautiful bouquet and a lovely card.
Isn't that sweet? I was so touched! After church we stopped by and visited with my folks.  Then we headed back to the camp for a BBQ lunch with Jocelyn and her crew.
It was a lovely afternoon, and they all gifted me so well!!  Joc got me a new 60 mm ergonomic rotary cutter and a book of botanical embroidery patterns which I've wanted for a while . . .
And Todd got me THESE!!!!
Are they not just PERFECT??!  He knows me so well!  And, well, I got myself this sweet little wool pattern from Sentimental Stitches . . .
I mean, a girl's gotta do!

And for the cherry on top, I was a winner!  Janet, over at Rogue Quilter, was clearing out some patterns and I am now the proud owner of some very cute wool patterns, perfect for my little stand!!!
Am I right?!?  Thanks so much, Janet!  :)

So, that's it for what's going on here.  I hope everyone enjoyed as lovely a Mother's Day as I did.  Oh yeah, and I meant to say ... I have turned off comments on my blog.  It's just easier for me this way. ♥

april showers . . .

Bring May flowers . . .
My newest addition to my teacup collection.  Rather appropriate for May, don't you think?  I saw it in a spread in the current issue of TeaTime Magazine.  They kill me.  LOL!  :)

Our rhododendrons and our water lilies are both blooming out!
I love all the color this season brings with it!

This last weekend was a weekend of tiny dancers.  The girls had their spring ballet recital; it was Edith's first!  They all did a marvelous job and it was a weekend well spent!

Aren't they darling?  They're signed up for next year!  Prima ballerinas!

:)
