After a long period of pondering...

I've finally deleted Warcraft III from my lousy laptop and decided to go on a, what other people say, Hiatus till the end of the 'O' levels. From games, that is. I feel so lousy now, not making full use of this holiday in which I played too hard but did not study hard enough. Maybe I will fail my Grad Exam 1, Preliminary exams 1, but I know... When I get older I will be stronger! :) So now's the time to study hard and stop slacking. I've got my targets and accomplishments to achieve and I surely don't wanna fail anyone! To greater heights! GO!

By the way, played soccer at Boon Lay Garden Primary School on Saturday. Ouch :( Why to the balls come in so hard, why do the dives go in so slow? We have a long way to go.. Thanks Nelson for kicking my head giving me a headache for such a long time and I think my left arm's hanging on a sinewy thread of blood now. I seemed to have pulled and exerted too much force on it when I went for a dive today. Oww!

Ok gotta go study now. I know it's 5.40a.m. but I'm not sleeping till 12pm tmr. Maybe 11pm considering fatigue.

The only way to avoid mistakes is to not do anything, but that, in the ultimate analysis would be the most fatal mistake.

TEAM OUTING!

We finally had our Mistakes team outing today. Although it did not go along as it was planned out (Jio-ing of 1 girl per person) we still had our fun and laughter. Thanks for everything, the jokes, pranks, basketballing, beach-soccer, monkey, frisbee, sandcastle digging, bathing, cycling, singing, eating and whatever we did la, can't really remember already. Haha.

Videos and Pictures will be up ASAP! Gotta go st-st-st-st-st-st-study!

Shag play.

Today, we proceeded out of the zonal finals of the NSSL (abbreviated from National Street Soccer League, or Noob Shit Soccer League). I shan't blame it on the ball nor the court, but what a eff-ed up performance by me? I have nothing to say but to just improve lo. Seriously, how did I do wonders today? 2 possible factors.

1) The unearthly weather, made us perspire or sweat in buckets mode. But this shall not be a valid factor as the other teams would be affected by the unearthly weather as well.. Therefore, factor 1 is out.
2) Stressed to perform, winning in the group in the preliminary rounds surely gave us a well needed boost but we really did not play up to usual standard. The ball affected the outfield players today, and I surely did not put in my top-notch form as I used to in the preliminary rounds. Therefore factor 2 is valid.

Sorry team, for letting all of you down, especially in the 1st match and the 3rd one. I really don't know why I became such a sloppy goalkeeper, I know we have to improve and especially me. The teams today were especially rough, but we shall be better next year if we do join again. And I swear to god, I will not let the nightmare of the first match re-enact again. I'm self proclaimed Schmeichel, I will leave this name on the shelf for now. I shall be CheeHow, normal and in the learning process, no more M.K., no more arrogance. There were alot more keepers that did better today.

And lastly, thank you Mistakes, for this NSSL campaign. REMEMBER OUR TEAM OUTING ON WEDNESDAY!!! EVERYONE IS TO BRING ......................... THERE!

Goalkeepers.

I watched the England vs USA match today in which Robert Green conceded what you would term as a 'howler'. He let the ball slip through his gloved palms and trickle into the goal. Not considering physics (which is weight of ball, speed of shot, texture and surface of the ball.) many would blame it on the goalkeeper. Then, it dawned on me that goalkeepers would always be remembered for their mistakes which cost them a game. On the contrary, never remembered for a match winning performance as it may only be a 'one-time' event.

Honestly, I feel that people are taking things for granted. The goalkeeper is the last line of defence for the whole team, and you can't blame him for not doing his job right. In actual fact, although he may be the only person to be able to use his hands to come in contact with the ball, the pressure may be too 'hot' to handle. Sometimes, goalkeepers are unstoppable. That's when they meet opponents which do not know their weaknesses and flaws. On other days, especially days after a goalkeeper has produced match-winning performances, when he concedes easily he would often blame himself for not doing as well as he did. Actually I think this affects every sport. Look at Nelson for example, he produced a great performance and appeared to be in red hot form last Sunday but appeared to be nobody when we played on Friday. Is this because he is inconsistent? Or because we are playing against DIFFERENT OPPONENTS?

Form is temporary, Class is permanent. One should only be judged after he has ended his career, but not when it is ongoing as confidence often drowns the mind with lavish thoughts of oneself. Maybe over-confidence is the word. But to successfully counter this, one should understand that there would always be a higher mountain, and nothing will last forever. So, after having a long talk about soccer today, shall we play? :)

Hello people, it's been a loooooooooooooooooooong week for me. Havn't really slept to the maximum these past few days as I've been trying to do some stuff i.e. packing my notes (successful) and doing new ones (opposite of successful, unsuccessful). Been waking up at around 2pm in the afternoon, go on to do my daily activities like gaming or soccer, before proceeding to negotiate the mountain of revision that I should have started on 3 months ago (Oh shit..). My daily routine starts at 2pm and ends at around 8/9am the next day (Maybe I will tire out sometimes and sleep at 6 though).

I adopted this unhealthy lifestyle for a reason though, its for me to adapt to O level life, being able to burn the midnight oil. Or in more modernised terms, being able to "waste the midnight electricity". So this lifestyle will continue till holidays end and till till till after the O's. I just hope my body won't fail me..

Ah, it's 7.30, was watching the world cup matches last night, technically this morning. Both were quite boring draws though. The South Africa - Mexico match I watched at home but the Uruguay - France match we (Me, Teckwu, Angus, YY) went to Gek Poh CC to watch. Although there are some cons (no air-con) countering the pros regarding the whole matter of the free screening at the community club, overall it's kinda erm.. relaxing as we're supposedly saving money while sitting of the comfortable primary school chairs watching the screening of the world cup matches which cost $1 each if you consider the early bird price and around $1.50 each if you factor in the after 31st July price instead.

Anyway, let's proceed to the question of the day.
Qn: If a average looking (as in terms of dressing and attire) old man comes up to you requesting for a $1 spare change to buy drinks from 7-11, will you lend the money to him? In simpler terms, giving out money.

Ans: It happened to my friend, who declined to be named. Seeing that the man had able limbs and also a gusto to work. He politely declined by saying that there is free mineral water at the community club, but the man said that apparently he was "allergic to plain water and would vomit" (the allergy is what I assume). So my friend told him to **** off. Although it was rude of him to do so, it was for a good reason if you consider it in a way that if one has limbs to work, why not work for money? But of course, the man may be cash-strapped at that moment and may have been lusting for his, if I'm not wrong, mango juice or something? But what would you do if this happened to you? Will you be a good Samaritan and help the man or politely refuse instead? If it were me, I think I would lend him the money if he really looked cash strapped and really hard up at the moment but I think my friend was too rude to the man and although he gave a good reason by saying that the community club had free mineral water, my friend obviously did not consider or like people say, put himself in the other's shoe.

Thanks for reading the weekly update of my blog, tune in next week :)

Plea for support.

I will happily admit to all readers, the last NSSL "group win" was a fluke. In actual fact, we didn't play 3 matches at all, we played only 1 and the other 2 were walkovers. So actually, we havn't proved anything concrete and 'boastable' of yet. But on a brighter note, at least we made it through what seemed to be a tough match against some kids.

The next match would be on the 2nd Sunday from present, 8/6/10. The actual date for the next few fixtures is the 20th June 2010. To be honest, I'm already very very uptight and nervous for the next match as I don't think we'll make it through due to my inabilities and shortcomings. So I really hope people would unexpectedly arrive at the side of the court and be my team's 6th man, providing the moral support. Thanks! You are appreciated. I will do my part for this team.. and I will try my best. :)
