Austin-6 months

Yesterday Austin turned 6 months old. He is turning into a little boy! Here is what he is doing these days:
  • He is eating baby food twice a day and still drinking five 6oz bottles. He loves to eat and wants to put everything we are eating in his mouth. I try not to ever eat in front of him because I feel so guilty for not sharing with him! His favorite food is mashed up bananas. He likes his food thick, not the runny baby food. I have to give him the stage 2 foods because they are thicker.
  • He can drink water from a sippy cup.
  • He still sleeps through the night. He goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 (lately it's been closer to 10 though) and sleeps until somewhere between 6-7am.
  • He still falls asleep in the car. We have used that tactic a few times to get him to take a nap.
  • He is adjusting to trying to take naps with the big boys home for the summer. It's not exactly quiet like it used to be!
  • He rolled over a few times last week but hasn't done anymore since then.
  • He is starting to sit up better on his own but he hasn't mastered it completely yet.
  • He grabs for everything. He has also discovered he can drop things and people will pick them up.
  • He loves to chew on his fingers (he is working hard on getting his bottom teeth) and "talk" in a really loud voice. He has definitely discovered his voice and he has learned (unfortunately) that if you want to be heard in this house, you have to talk loud!
  • His favorite toys are still his brothers!
  • He loves to read books.
  • He really likes the water (thank goodness, since his brothers are like fish!). He will kick in the water and enjoys being in his float.

He is such a GOOD baby. He goes with the flow. He is always happy. He has the sweetest personality. We are truly blessed! We are also blessed to have two great big brothers. Luckily, they still think Austin is pretty cool and are willing to help in anyway they are asked. They love playing with him and are great baby sitters if I need to get something done real quick.
I seriously don't know how I am going to leave him when we go to CA. My stomach gets into huge knots every time I think about it. I can't even get excited about the trip at this point. I hope I can get to a point where I have some peace about it and can actually enjoy myself and the time with the big boys. I know it will be good to have a break and spend quality time with M, A and A.

Jumpoline

Monday we met Cindy and Abby at Jumpoline. We went during spring break and the boys loved it. It's wall to wall trampolines! I was only able to get Alex to be still enough on the trampolines for a pic!

Here they are after 2 hours of jumping!

Here they are after some Freddie's burgers and custard! Love these kids!

Swimming

We have started our daily trips to the pool. Although the amount of time we are there has drastically decreased this summer. Our max right now is 1.5 hours. I just don't want to keep Austin in the sun/water for longer then that right now. We are pretty excited that the Pharaons joined the country club pool this year! The kids have had fun swimming already!

Austin's on a roll

Austin rolled over for the first time yesterday. It was an exhausting effort as you can see below!

Today it was a little easier! The only problem is once he rolls to his tummy he doesn't know how to get back on his back. But not to worry...he just gives us a little cry and we do it for him. He's not spoiled, just very loved! ;)

Homeade gifts

Austin has received some pretty cool gifts made from the heart. A cousin from Andy's side of the family gave Austin this rocking horse piggy bank. So creative! I know he will love using it when he gets older. In the meantime it's a great decoration to his room! Thank you Bonnie and Ronnie!

The boys' best friend in Austin, Abby, has been taking a sewing class for awhile now. She made Austin this awesome pillow. He loves looking at it. He actually rolled over for the first time trying to grab it yesterday!

This is the back of the pillow. Austin loves looking at all of the bright colors!

Thank you, Abby, for working so hard to make Austin such a beautiful gift. He loves it! Mason and Alex are jealous and can't wait to see what you make for them! :)

Triathlon

This weekend we went to Austin so we could cheer on my sister-in-law Heather as she participated in her first triathlon (Danskin). I have never been a spectator at a triathlon or any type of marathon. It was very exciting.
We got up at 6:00 am so we could park and walk the mile or so to the transition spot at Decker Lake. I only have one morning child so Mason joined my mom and me. Andy stayed back with Alex and Austin.
Heather had to swim half a mile in Decker Lake, then bike 12 miles, then run 3 miles. Just thinking about it wears me out! Her goal was to finish in 2 hours or less and she did it!
Watching her was so inspiring. It made me think of all that she has accomplished at such a young age and it was through hard work and perseverance. Right now she works practically full time, she goes to UT full time, and made time to train for a triathlon. The thing that Heather has that I need to find again is motivation, drive and endurance. When she sets her mind to it she accomplishes it! Sounds like my husband! I'm glad my kids have such great role models in their lives! Heather, you have encouraged me to incorporate exercise into my life and maybe I can complete a triathlon or marathon one day!
