Wii Boxing

The night after Christmas we went out to dinner with Harper and Natalie. After dinner we brought our Wii to their house to break it in! Harper, Andy and Natalie were great at all of the Wii Sports games! I was the cheerleader for most of the night. I sucked! Below is an EDITED version of Andy and Harper boxing. It was hilarious!! They were both sore the next day!

Saturday night we went back over to Harper and Natalie's for Round 2 of the Wii. That day Harper and Natalie went and bought Wii Play (which had a shooting game on it that Natalie really liked- and was really good at). They also bought another boxing controller so that two people could box. It was too much fun!!

Christmas 2008

I can't believe Christmas has come and gone. It's always such a whirlwind! We spent Christmas Eve with my family. We all went to church Christmas Eve and then had a fantastic Christmas dinner that my parents house. We opened gifts and then played with Casey and Heather's new toy- the Wii! We played Rockband. Even my parents took a turn at playing guitar! Below is a picture of Alex patiently waiting while Uncle Casey passed out the presents.

Alex was so sweet watching Mason open his presents (we had the boys take turns opening presents). He would get so excited and say "Oh, Mason, look...you got....(whatever the gift was)!
Mason got golf clubs from my parents. He was very excited!

Alex got a Click Start computer that hooks to the TV and lots of other great presents. Below he is showing off his cube puzzle.

Here is Alex getting so excited for Mason as he would open each present!

Even though both boys were sick during Christmas they were troopers!

Alex's excitement shown below!
We spent Christmas morning at our house so we could see what Santa brought! At 5:30am Mason came into our room and said that Alex got a better present from Santa then he did (Santa brought Alex a scooter and Mason an circuit board set). Mason thought his was a petshop toy and he wasn't impressed. However, once he opened the circuit board set he hasn't stopped playing with it. He has learned how to connect various pieces to make a light shine, a fan run, a doorbell ring, a siren sound, etc. The toy is for ages 10+ but he has been able to look at the pictures and build them himself. The most exciting Christmas present for our family was the Wii and Rockband. When Mason saw the Wii box his eyes got huge, his mouth dropped open and he fell backwards onto the carpet! He has been smoking us in bowling ever since!

We spent Christmas evening with Andy's parents. I had to take the picture below because look how Alex is crossing his legs! Too funny!

Alex was excited to open more presents and Granna and Grandpa's. He didn't need any help this year opening his gifts!

Mason has been asking for a BB gun for awhile now. We kept telling him he couldn't get one this year because he wasn't old enough. But Grandpa surprised him with one! When Mason started unwrapping the gift and could see what it was he said "Oh....My.....God!!" He was very excited!

Mason also got a cowboy hat, a belt and belt buckle and some new boots. He transformed into a true cowboy this Christmas!

Here is Mason getting his first lesson on shooting his BB gun. Andy took one of the gift boxes from Christmas and drew a target on it. That's what Mason was aiming at in the picture below.

Thank you to everyone for all of the gifts, Christmas cards, wonderful food and great company. We had a fantastic Christmas!

Early Christmas present

Today we met Casey and Heather at Petsmart so they could buy Alex an early Christmas present. Alex has been asking for more fish in his fish tank. So Casey and Heather let Alex pick out some fish. He was so excited. He picked out 3 black platy fish and 3 red molly fish. They get along great with the 4 little minnows already in his tank. Thank you Uncle Casey and Aunt Heather!

Christmas spirit

Last weekend we went to Brenham and spent some time getting into the Christmas spirit. Jeanell made homemade bread. Yum! Below is a picture of Mason eating some of the bread as Simon looks on. He was waiting for a handout that he never received!

Sunday night we drove around Brenham looking at Christmas lights. This house has always been one of my favorites. The pictures don't do it justice. It's amazing. They have lots of windows in the front of their house and they turn them into window displays like at a department store. It's so neat. The window display you can see in the picture below is a fireplace with stockings, a Christmas tree, etc. It was very neat.

Here is Mason in his Santa hat. Cutie!

Here is Mason showing off his bull whip and the ear tag that fell off of one of Andy's cows. In case you haven't heard the latest, Mason now wants to be a Rodeo Cowboy, a policeman and an engineer when he grows up!

Already asking

This morning I had the following conversation with Alex:

Alex: Is Santa for real?
Me: Yes
Alex: Are you just joking?
Me: No he is real
Alex: How come I have never seen him leave me presents?
Me: Because he comes when you are sleeping?
Alex: Are you just joking?

Yikes, already a disbeliever?!

The mad rush begins

I went to help out in Mason's classroom for a little while today and we got to do a little shopping while I was there. The 5th graders are running a store called Reindeer Lane. You can go shopping for Christmas gifts for your family. The point is for the kids to purchase gifts for their family as a surprise. Mason decided to buy this bracelet for me and wanted me to wear it right then. He was so proud of it. He is so sweet! He told Andy that we wanted to buy a gun for him but they didn't have any. They didn't have bullets either, he said. :)

Once we got home this afternoon it was time to wrap teacher's gifts and make some sweets for the kids!

I have to post an update on Alex's potty training. Once he became potty trained I bought a pack of pull ups so he could wear a diaper at night. He used the last diaper two nights ago. He has never had an accident in his diaper. We put him in underwear last night and crossed our fingers that he wouldn't have an accident. He woke up dry! Yippee! NO MORE DIAPERS at our house! That's something to celebrate if you ask me!

When delirium sets in....

Sorry I haven't updated my blog in awhile, it was a crazy week last week. I had to work FIVE days last week. Poor me, huh?! Anyway, right before bedtime tonight I told the boys I needed to take their picture in front of the Christmas tree for Santa Claus (they are much more compliant when you throw Santa Claus into the sentence!) Here is the photo shoot for Santa....

Signing off, it's bedtime!! :)

Reindeer

Tomorrow at Preschool we are talking about reindeer. I found this cute idea in Family Fun magazine and had to make these reindeer cookies for the kids! I was really sloppy with the icing so they aren't as cute as the magazine of course! But you get the idea!

Our Christmas Tree

Today we drove to the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm to cut down our very first live Christmas tree. Andy and I really enjoyed it. I think the kids were so tired from staying up late this weekend, they were just ready to get the tree and go! Here we are entering the farm.

It looks like the boys are about to say the pledge, but really they are just trying to get this picture taking over with!

Here is Andy getting ready to cut down our Christmas tree. He had to stretch first!

Here he goes!

Good thing he stretched, check out the SIZE of that tree trunk!! It's HUGE!

We all had to say TIMBER when it fell!

Here we are waiting for a tractor to come pick us up. Mason wasn't letting go of the tree! Alex was ready for a nap!

We are on the tractor heading back to home base to pay for our tree!

Once we got back the crew put our tree on this machine that shakes it to get the dust and loose needles out of it. It was really neat to watch. After they shake it they bail it with this netting around it. Once it's bailed it's ready to be taken to the truck. Pretty quick and easy! Fun too!

While Andy was loading the tree in the truck the boys and I scoped out the farm animals on display. This was one fat pig!

Here is our perfect Christmas tree (perfect to me anyway!) I am so excited about it. It's going to be a great Christmas!

Capital Gymnastics

We had Alex's birthday party Saturday at Capital Gymnastics. It was a small gathering of preschool friends but it was the perfect size for Alex! He had a lot of fun. Again, my pictures are in reverse order, but what the hey! Below is a picture of Alex eating cake. He jumped for joy when the couches announced it was cake time!

Blowing out the 3 candles on his soccer cake.

Mom and Alex having fun!

Mason had a blast. I think he tried every activity! Here he is climbing a wall so he can slide down the other side.

Here are all of his friends listening to the rules for the gym.

Mason and Alex LOVED the trampoline!

Here is the birthday boy before hitting the gym!

Yeah! It's my birthday party!
