january days

January days...

Caleb pulled out a big ass puzzle to pass the early 2021 pandemic days.

Cam and Sam got creative with a big pile of old wood.

More wood projects with Gage.

Chess masters.

Once the big kids went back to school, Cam and Quinn found each other in the afternoons again.

They are seriously the cutest.

Cam was working on letter M in preK. His rendition of me makes me think I need to work on myself a little bit more.☺

St. Jude is a charity close to our heart.

Friday movie night.

Crafty Cadyn repurposed this pop can into a beautiful pencil holder for my office.

The kids got a kick out of the Christmas clay dinosaur kits from Grandma Joni and Grandpa Kurt.

Game night!

Speak-Out is always a funny one.

On this even more aggressive of a windy day than normal in Dodge this was Camden's solution to keeping the door from blowing open.

Snuggles for Mr. Roar, Caleb's childhood lovey.

Afternoon snuggles with my sugarboo are my favorite.

Two wilderness adventurers. Cadyn even made a trail (under the sheets) with different discoveries like gems and gold coins for treasure and spread out cotton balls for spider web corners.

Daddy's old dart board has been getting a lot of use lately.

Playing Sleeping Queens card game with my snuggly bugs.

Cadyn followed in my deep cleaning/organizing footsteps this month and went through her closet. Up high on her shelf she found the princess set of elaborate clothing pieces, a tiara, and slippers that Grandma Joni made for her for Christmas when she was about four years old. She decided to fold it all nicely and keep it right up there still instead of storing it just yet.

On the Martin Luther King, Jr holiday our family continued the tradition of watching his I Have A Dream speech together. It is so interesting to discuss racism with the kids afterward and hear their thoughts on the topic.

Tegan continues to have weekly Boy Scouts meetings.

Cam and I enjoyed a trip to the zoo and park on this beautiful day.

The hand-holding makes my heart happy.

Teegs gave a shout out to his 'hood buddies in this assignment.

Afternoons with Quinny.

This kid is the only one I can still consistently beat in Spot It.

Caleb introduced the kids to an after dinner pairing of cantaloupe and vanilla ice cream which was a special treat in his family when he was growing up.

An older man and his wife who visited the garage sale across the street were looking for toys for Operation Christmas Child boxes. They saw our huge bag of stuffies and asked Nicole if we would donate them for the cause. She said yes and then they gifted these jump ropes to the kids who were working the sale. The man makes them out of old t-shirts. Our kids haven't put them down and are having the time of their lives playing with them. Again I ask myself, why do we buy toys?!

Very proud of our girl for making A-B honor roll for the second semester. This is the first time Cadyn has not made the straight A honor roll. That 5th grade math can be tricky. She was not thrilled with A-B, as evidenced by this forced smile. The pressure we first-borns put on ourselves can be intense.

Crazy hair day.

Cam absolutely loves the snow. He bundled up and went right out after preschool to scoop the sidewalk and driveway for me unprompted.

The boys learned about dinosaurs in Scouts tonight. Cam doesn't always like tagging along and watching/waiting, but he didn't mind as much this week.

Paint by Sticker books are some of our favorites.

We tried out Flat Mountain Brewhouse in Garden City after a little shopping. BIG thumbs up on both the brews and food.

Meanwhile, Cadyn was in Pratt roller skating for MaryAnn's birthday.

There's a shark outside my window! Thanks to Gage for the laugh.

Grandma Joni's Cheesy Nucala Potato Soup on repeat during this chilly month.

January funnies:
Tegan: (before school one morning watched Cosmo take a poop in the litter box) I like how he does it. So professional.

Cadyn: (beaming when she got in the car one evening after dance class) Mom, guess what just happened!
Me: What?
Cadyn: Miss Nikki was upset that most of the class didn't remember the choreography from last time. I did. She pulled me up in front of the class and put her arm around me and said, "You know who always gives me 100%? This girl. Be more like Cadyn."
Me: Hard work pays off, baby. That's great! I'm proud of you.
