christmas :: wagoner 2016

Late-morning on Christmas day we arrived at my parents' house. First up was brunch, then family photos followed by gift opening.

Camden kind of got into unwrapping, but mostly let big bro or big sis help.

Teegs' Buzz Lightyear obsession continues.

So. much. excitement. about this board book.

Gigi outdid herself and made TEN character fort covers! It was a surprise to us all and, as I exclaimed repeatedly that day, a brilliant idea. She made them custom to each child and their interests and all with no pattern. The oldest cousin, Gracie, received a handmade lounger with pillow inserts. Bravo, Gigi!

Caleb was in nap mode 90 seconds after completion of opening gifts.

The play room always gets a lot of love over the holidays.

Cookie thief!

Boot thief!

Gigi and Papa also gifted each grandchild a character gingerbread house kit. A few of them became afternoon activities. My kids were off doing something else (thank goodness). Transporting those back to Kansas with a full van would have been tricky.

After a structural collapse, Sonya was DONE. Hahaha.

The lovely finished projects.

The weather was so strange, even for Nebraska. A huge rain storm came through then there were serious high winds the rest of the afternoon into the evening.

Ty wasn't feeling well and the women talked him into a breathing treatment.

Grady's new DS was an attraction for the boys.

Lots of fort time!

Camden in very intrigued by animals. He spotted Miss Kitty and promptly crawled up next to her and gave me an, "Is this okay, Mama?" look.

He reached out to pet her, smiled and said, "Hi, baby."

Apparently, he likes completely stationary animals because her tail movement freaked his freak.

There was a salon session with Sonya and Gracie's new wave irons.

Three peas in a pod.

Clearly now it is time to party.

Grady and Bryce brought the game Pie Face. The adults pretended to forget there was Cool Whip in the freezer, dodging a messy bullet.☺

Cuties Cam and Eastyn.

After a delicious prime rib dinner, we cleaned up and gathered the kids. Sonya brought two super fun games for them this year. The first was an unwrap-the-plastic-wrap game.

The second was an unwrap-the-package game with a mittens kicker. Both were fast-paced and high-energy with dice involved. Good times and lots of laughs!

Gracie played us beautiful Christmas songs on the piano. Cam wanted to be her assistant.

The older cousins created and practiced a play in the back room for the longest time. Their performance was very musical and adorable.

Taylon and Grady did a good job in their directorial debuts.

Cards time!

Monday morning came way too fast thanks to this little one. I was proud to make it to 1:30am the night before, while the guys and Sonya made it to nearly 4am. We are serious about our card games.

In what now has become a tradition, brunch was at Aunt Judy and Aunt Mary Frances' house the day after Christmas. Mary Frances was actually visiting Sarah and family in Montana this year, so we missed seeing her, but were very happy to catch up with Judy and other extended family members.

Second-cousins photo! Thanks to Judy for a wonderful time with good food and even better people.

A big thank you to my mom and dad for another memorable, relaxing, fun, meaningful Christmas holiday. We love you and appreciate the food, gifts, and love.♥
