Another update:

Graham has pneumonia. The world has really slowed down as we've both taken days of work to stay home with our sick little guy. He's doing  better today and we're very thankful for antibiotics, and the health that we've all had for the past two years. Now, if only we could catch up on sleep.

Graham is sick and we bought a new car. There's lots to say about both these happenings, but I'm too busy catering to every whim of a cranky, feverish two year old. For example, this morning he decided he wanted to GO to the MALL, mama. in the CAR. at 630am. I've decided that every toddler thinks like a celebrity: stores should open, weather should change, chocolate milk should be available at any moment. This might be because I'm watching a lot of Entourage, but, really, I see a strong comparison.

We'll be back soon....

I'm stealing a minute here before Graham wakes up to update the blog a little, since it's suddenly impossible to get pictures taken and posted on the web. Why? I'm working more these days,  and am suddenly, painfully aware of the balancing act I had managed to avoid for 2 years. Since I started a new job that takes me away from home four days a week, my choices seem to be as follows: 1. work 2. concentrated Graham time 3. sleep. Really, there's not much chance for anything in between, which is why we've been eating a lot of yogurt and hot dogs around here (turkey, organic, unsulfered).

But, enough of my whining. Graham has had a great month- he spent about a week being interested in the potty. He is working on building narratives- he likes to tell a whole story (for example, about going to the car wash) over and over again. He got over a short lived (and painful) phase where instead of telling other kids what he wanted, he would give them a little wack on the head instead. This is typical in a 2 year old, I'm told, but when the 2 year old is 3 year old sized, the consequences can be more dramatic. Now that he's truly talking in sentences, he's stopped. The weather is now 30 degrees (instead of 5, as it was for most of January), and he wants to go for walks around our neighborhood all the time. He's loves books and cooking, and can stir flour for his mama without spilling (a skill that prevents some messy cleanup). He still loves daycare, and is headed to preschool in September. I am SO excited to buy him a lunchbox. Also new: an interest in footballs, basketballs, and baseballs. He seems to prefer footballs at present, which is thanks to Gus. Lastly, he's full-blown obsessed with big trucks, forcing Jen and I to learn vocabulary like "backhoe loader, " and "excavator." Overall, we seem to be over the first hurdle of 2 years, and he's mostly a hilarious chatty little guy who is affectionate, funny, and learning new things at a crazy rate.

Graham reads. Sort of. He also eats popcorn in bed.

Graham has been super envious of a giant garbage truck owned by Era, he with the best toys in the land. We caved and bought a similar recycling truck (you know, more PC) for G yesterday. It has become his obsession. Not only did it take an hour to get him to go to bed last night (because he had to be parted from his beloved), but he then WOKE UP at 2:30 and commenced to bargain for some QT with the truck in the middle of the night. At one point he said, "I get up and play with the recycling truck MYSELF," which we translated as, "y'all can just go back to bed, no worries, I'll just stay up all night long." He wept and gnashed his teeth for another hour and then finally went to sleep.

Maybe sometimes it's not a good idea to love something so much, eh?
