Lonely, I am so lonely....

The title sounds sad, right?  But sometimes I really prefer to be alone.

The date was 11/11/2010, time 2:59 p.m, here I am sitting alone in Sakae Sushi @ Wisma Atrium, Orchard Road.  Agenda: To have lunch.
*
*
*
*
*
Previously, I wrote about attending a food tasting event invited by Sakae Sushi as they are launching new items in their menu.  Well, I am here at Wisma's Sakae Sushi outlet to relived the taste of the food. Oh yummy food, so yummy I almost could die and go to heaven....

First thing, ordered a cup of hot green tea.  Contrary to popular belief, whereby people drink the green tea AFTER their meals, you should in fact drink it BEFORE (maybe half an hr) so that it can work well to block fats/oil.  I am not anyhow saying it okay.

Anyway back to the Sakae Sushi topic.  I took out the Food Menu which was given out to the e-journalists during the food tasting for reference.  I ordered Maguro Carpaccio, Mushroom Kimuchi Tofu, Sakae Candle and Aburi Salmon Teriyaki.  But I am sad that Hotate Sushi is OOS on that day  (>,<).  Seriously, I would love to ordered everything that was stated in the Food Tasting menu but I do not have a stomach as big as the Universe, unless I want to risk bursting thru my seams.  NO WAY. Ironically I am able to finish everything during the food tasting simply becos is smaller in portion..and I was very hungry.. FML!

Now how can you have a food review with no pictures.. so here they are.. Go on, go ahead and salivate in front of your PC screen !! *slurpzz*
Mushroom Kimuchi Tofu - fried beancurd, assorted mushroom with kimuchi sauce

Being a sucker for spicy N sour stuff, I slurp up every bits of it !!!

Maguro Carpaccio - thinly sliced half tuna with special sauce
Love the texture of it as below is lined with crunchy onion shreds, adds a unique aftertaste

Sakae Candle - avocado, Japanese cucumber, crabmeat, shrimp roe, codfish roe & mayo
**Pls do not consume the burnt pc of thing, which is the wick of the 'candle'**
(is suppose to look like the second pic when lighted up but I was too slow to capture it, so I 'cheated' and took the pic from the menu!)

Aburi Salmon Teriyaki - half broiled salmon with teriyaki sauce
I simply love this as it has a slightly burnt taste to it, weird much =D

So what do you think of the new items? Have I teased you all enough to go try it out yourselves?
If yes, please do visit any nearest Sakae Sushi outlet and bite off more than you can chew !!

UPDATES!

Here are the surprises that I received from Ben & Jerry's Singapore last night (11 Nov 2010)

My goodie bag prize for the 'Wacky Line' contest in Facebook

And 2 pints of ice cream and is in my fav flavours.
They can read my mind, yes they can! *moo moo with delight*

The ''Wacky Line'' contest is already over for some time now.  But I did not realize that I need to collect my prize at the Chunkfest in September.  Long story short, they deliver my goodie bag and also 2 complimentary pints of the abovementioned ice cream as a way of apology, right to my door step!  I am indeed very impress with their service recovery.  Alrite, cows ( Leon and his colleague) and Woody the Cow (mascot of Ben & Jerry's)...u r forgiven.  hahaha ~ =D    Love ya, Ben & Jerry's   *muacks*

P.S.  I can't wait to savour the ice cream so I open up the Peanut Butter Cup tub and I was shocked that they are not stingy with their ingredients when it comes to making ice cream.

Look at the big chucks of Peanut Butter Cup chocolate, I have a strong feeling it is Reese's Peanut butter cups! I m in moo moo heaven already lah.. damnz..LOL

Here is a picture taken with Woody the Cow (their mascot) together with my niece.  Sorry for the lousy quality picture.  I was too excited to use my own better camera... whatever lah.. LOL

Halloween @ *Scape Mall - Museum of Horrors

Went for the Halloween event @ the *Scape Mall, Museum of Horrors which was setup by Movie Mania (is an event company) as I had complimentary tickets. Start from 30th Oct - 3rd Nov, 11am - 11pm. (weekend, adult: SGD$12 (below 12y.o SGD$7), weekday, adult SGD$10, below 12 y.o, SGD$5).

Had lots of scary, silly fun there.  Basically screaming; laughing and screaming and more laughing LOL.  U can take lots of pictures with any of the displays, props, monsters, ghouls, ghosts..whatnots... LOL.  To be frank, I was being scare lots of times due to sudden movements by those people or rather the ''undead'' even though I know is not real.. FML.  Hahaha and I laughed at myself for being so timid.  Damn.

Saw some parents who brought in their kids and some of them were scared till crying. Traumatizing!  Seriously speaking, those children who need to be carried in arms or just barely learning to walk, is best they are NOT allowed to go inside.  I even saw people pushing baby prams.  The organizer(s) should set more stringent age limits for kids.

Well that aside, I really did enjoyed myself there with my hubby and friends celebrating my 1st Halloween.

Below are some of the pictures taken there..

Me and donno who..LOL

I suppose this is where I belong in Hell.  My bodyguards: Cowhead and Horseface

Ah Yen, me and Zhong Kui, the Chinese version of Ghost busters, ironically he is a ghost too.

Oh no ~

My ''chopped off'' head together with my ''guts'' and all...Intestinally yours..LOL

Happy Halloween everyone!  Hope u guys enjoyed yours ~ =D

Kinda pissed off because....

Well, we girls are discussing where we shld go and hv dinner for the b'day girl (she is in the discussion too).

So there we are messaging in Facebook suggesting various places that we could hv dinner to celebrate for the b'day.  Becos I m financially tight for this month as I have various occasions that I need to spend money on, one of them being another fren's wedding in a posh hotel, which falls on 10th Oct, my ang bao cannot be too stingy even though I m attending the dinner alone.

Ok back to the b'day dinner topic.  On the b'day day itself, me and the b'day girl will be heading to Universal Studio in the afternoon and after that we r meeting up the rest for dinner at Vivocity.  I frankly voice out my financial difficulties during the FB discussions as I want to be upfront abt this, cos I don't want to be taken as stingy.  And I did not say I don't want to celebrate b'day for the b'day girl, just that I want to spend within my means (and also I hv a short trip coming in Nov!) so I got to save, save, save.  Haizz :(

The b'day ger said she is craving for zi char food and Dian Xiao Er is quite similar to that.  So I suggested to go there for dinner as is more affordable (for me) and also we r sharing the cost to treat the b'day girl, NOT forgetting we also hv to pay for our OWN share.

Now I was pissed off becos one selfish person suggested :

''Go the Hei She Hui lah ...decided liao gt to book table else q like siao...Dian Xiao Er nothing much lei...hmmm hei she hui gt custard bun !!!!! :P''

**Hei She Hui means Bosses' Restaurant in Vivocity
**Dian Xiao Er is another restuarant also in Vivocity

So I replied  to all :

''Hei Se hui is ex oK.. i keep repeating myself i m on budget.
Is nt i m not willing to spend, really finance very tight. Hope U all understand.. we can budget and still hv a decent meal.''

I am NOT angry that she wanted her custard buns, but I am pissed off becos I already said I am on a budget and she still suggest such an expensive place where the food is so-so only, MAYBE the custard buns is nice only.  I really dono how she thinks. She don realise that is selfish of her? Or maybe she really is selfish?  I had observed some of her ''selfish'' ways when I was out with her a few times, but being friends for so many years, I just don wan to be too calculative with her.  BUT there is a limit to how long I can tolerate.  If I really lash out at her, she won't like it for sure and that will be the end of our frenship. (-_-)''

OK, maybe I m being too negative, being too sensitive and I have misunderstood her.  To be fair, she never said we all must go there.  But didn't I make myself clear enuff?  And she can just conveniently suggest such an expensive, overrated place for dinner.

To be very blunt, she is NOT the b'day girl.  Period.

The end is near...

Time passes so fast that I totally lost track of it.

I m guessing that my 'job' as an e-journalist also coming to end soon?  Is been almost a year since I won the blogger affairs contest and become an e-journalist for Sakae Sushi.   I really enjoy blogging about my dining experience at Sakae Sushi, love the food, love the points I earn that I can use to rebate on the bill and also loving the monthly top up of the Sakae points.   It really help me alot for these few months, financial wise.   I miss Candice (who has left for better prospects) who was the 1st person who handle the e-journalists and the Facebook updates, not to mention Jacintha who did a great job taking over for awhile and now she has move on to bigger responsibilties, good luck !  =)  And now we have a new girl, Gena, taking over.  Welcome aboard!  =)

I really hope there will be more good things to come from Sakae Sushi.  No, I don't mean free meals, what I m refering to is more promotions or contests, more new dishes and other interesting activities that Sakae members and/or the e-journalist can participate in.  I will always support Sakae Sushi because this is the place where I can truly enjoy a good meal without compromising on quality & quantity.

I m not sure if I will ever get to continue doing the e-journalist 'job' or how long they are going to have the blogger affairs contest.  But it was fun ! =).  So if any one of you are interested in being an e-journalist for Sakae Sushi, here is the link or join their Facebook page for more information.

My standard meal at Sakae Sushi

P.S  My member card is expiring end of this month.  Any chance I can have a auto renewal? I still have some balance Sakae points inside.  How?

The Time of The Month...again...

Yes. Is the time of the month again.  NO, I am not refering to my menstrual cycle.  I am talking abt my dining experience at Sakae Sushi.  Tsk, tsk...

Ever since I switch to doing part time work, I have more free time with my friends and my love ones.  Me and my friends meet up rather often to go and search for affordable, good food and a good chit chat session. (Not to forget a good shopping bargain!)  Sakae Sushi always come to mind.   Is been such a long time since I had Sakae Sushi buffet, so I arrange to meet up a GF and have it; in her opinion is more worth it, which I couldn't agree more.  LOL

We are like kids in a candy store.  All hell break loose, or rather our stomach break loose and we literally stuff ourselves with ''free flow of food''  =P  We were at Wisma Atrium's outlet for lunch.  After the stuffing, we went for retail therapy at Uniqlo , 313 Somerset as they have a SALE going on!  Woohoo =)  Bought their famous bra-tops, a Mickey mouse tee (a collaboration with Disney) and socks for my hubby ($14.90 for 4 pairs!)

This is only PART of what we ate!

Yummy ~

Our dessert included in the buffet..but my GF don like the flavour..

I love it though... slurpz ~

The coke bottle actually sway from side to side..sooo cute :)

As usual, I use my Sakae member card for rebate ..erm I don rember the exact amount but I do know that after using the points, we paid a lot lesser.  Money saved goes to our shopping !  LOL

It was a wonderful day spent with GF.  =D

Thank you Sakae Sushi !

Feeling Japanese...

Whenever I have a chance to dine out, I will go to Sakae Sushi to satisfy my craving for sashimi and sushi.  Those who know me well, knows that I am a big fan of the Japanese culture but I am quite ashamed to say I don't really know much about Japanese and their culture.  I took Basic Japanese lessons before but all go down the drain.  But that is another story.

I went to Harbourfront's Sakae Sushi outlet last week and dine with my family and my husband.  But the thing is we were all enjoying our food and I have forgotten to take pictures!  When I reach home, I thought I wanna blog about it and realise.....  No pictures, how ??!  Ok nvm, I will try to use words to describe the whole experience.  So you people who are reading it, pls use yr vivid imagination to the fullest.  LOL!

We had 6 colour plates of sushi, 6 red plates of sashimi and 2 sets of premium bento !  We share among ourselves.  Pssst .. my Dad, brother and my husband are BIG eaters (btw my husband is very small built), so just imagine I am dining with 2 sumo wrestlers & 1 petite guy.  I am laughing my ass off just imagining it myself, hahahaha ~

Anyway, they are having Poly students promotion now, do go to their website and find out more!

I am so tired..going to nap...Zzzzzz..

Very busy for the month of May and June...

Ever since I have start preparing my for wedding, as my big day is drawing near, I really have no time to go dating with my fiance or meet up my friends.  But becos I have to do my 'job' as a e-journalist, (no such thing as a free meal) I have to submit one post for this month of May.  But I am also worried abt my blog entry for June, my busiest month.  Is my wedding day !!!

Nvm,  I will do it.  Not becos I m hard up for the Sakae dollar that will be top up.  Is becos I understand the meaning of being responsible.

So I purposely make time to go and visit a Sakae sushi outlet at Tiong Bahru Plaza yesterday.  And guess what, the table I was assigned to,  the pc is spoilt and some of the mouse are not working properly.  Is so inconvenient for me to place my order, as I went during lunch time, all the staff were busy.

Anyway, I still manage to order my food and settle my lunch before I go off to do some wedding stuff shopping alone.

I will still patronize Sakae Sushi but I guess some improvement for the Tiong Bahru Plaza's outlet need to be done and also for some other outlets that I went to.  See below pic you will know.. LOL

See lah..so poor thing.. the eyes all gone !!  Must be those kids with itchy hands and heck care parents...tsk tsk.  I wonder how to use the mouse like that..

Ok I shall end here... will update again.

Dining alone..is shiok sometimes...

Sometimes I just to love to dine alone.  No need to accommodate to anyone's timing and preferences.

When I have the urge to do that, I will always go Sakae Sushi.  I guess that's the only place that I won't encounter bothersome waiter or waitress who will try to ask you if you want this or that...

Last week, I went to the Sakae Sushi outlet at TBP for a little shopping for my wedding.  I ordered a bento set which is a new item on the menu.  Is very nice and worth it.  Yum yummm ~~

The bento set consist of Chicken Karage, Salmon teriyaki, ikura chawamushi,, lobster salad tofu, and 2 more items I don remember what it is.. LOL .but this set is super worth it.. I think is abt $18+ (exclude GST).  After I use my Sakae member card for rebate, I only paid 35 cents !!!  HAHAHA..

I love dining at Sakae Sushi !!  Lovessss ~~~

Very amused ....

Everyone has their own opinions about the celebrities that they like or don't like.

BTW, those celebrities I tweeted about, I am not a die hard fan of any of them, though I did mentioned I really like some of them. Neutral party, ok ??

And seriously, I will NOT get pissed off just becos some people have different views on the celebrities I like or don't like... I am open to friendly debates ..LOL..

***In case, anyone who knows what I am talking about, please be sure you truly understand what I am writing.  I do NOT want any misunderstanding.

Thank you =)

Happy Day @ Jurong Point

I am so excited that I can finally collect my Majorlica Majorca prize from www.sweetbeautydelights.wordpress.com blog giveaway.  This blog belongs to Yes933FM DJ - Jia Hui.  She is such a darling, pls support her beauty blog and her radio segment 就是万人迷 together with Cruz Teng on Yes933FM , Mon to Fri - 6am to 10 am .

Yesterday, Good Friday was my very 1st time to Jurong Point after they expanded to Jurong Point 2.   I reached Boon Lay Mrt Station and proceed to the Guardian event that she is hosting with Jia Fa, another Yes933FM DJ at JP 1.  I am very excited to see her lor !  My bf who was with me commented that Jia Hui is really petite in person LOL ..but I was secretly admiring Jia Fa.. LOL. Ok that aside,  we were early so I hang around the event stage and wait for Jia Hui to finish her hosting. Around 4 pm, the event is done and finally got my stuff from her and she was also very obliging to let me have a pic taken with her!  OMG..she really have very good skin and she is really slim. She did mention while on the stage , she is not even 45 kg !!  wah lauzzz !  How I wish I am 45 kg lor..haizz :( .. Gonna work hard to continue slim down,  if I can slim down to my ideal weight, I will be very happy LOL.

The item is really bulky as she mentioned.  Is a big box like thing, and it contains some info of Majorlica Majorca's Chapter 26 products, a note book, a nice pen and also a very cute doll...but one thing very amusing is she is not wearing panties!  Hahahaha ~ diaoz.  So happy I got it cos is a NOT For Sale item, definitely worth keeping :)

After that I meet up with a friend who is staying near Jurong Point for dinner at Old Town Coffee, their Nasi Lemak is best! I love the chili !  Shiokness to the max ! :)  No pics cos too busy eating and gossiping LOL.. yes my bf also joined in the gossiping :P  After that we walk around and explore more is really crowded and is really big, worse than Vivocity.  Really like my friend said a lot things to buy, but I can't possibly go back there cos I have to travel.. abit lazy ..LOL  So after walking around, is time to go home.  Tired ah ~  Maybe I will go back to Jurong Point when I don't feel lazy. .LOL

Happy day @ Jurong Point :)

Sakae Sushi FTW

(Back dated post - 23rd March 2010)
I was going for my medical appt at SGH.  So after that I dropped by Sakae Sushi at Tiong Bahru Plaza. I m very early, if fact the outlet opens at 11.30am, I was there around 11.40am. Technically I am having late breakfast or brunch or watever lah...  I am famished becos I had not eaten anything since morning, only a slice of wholemeal bread.  So I flip thru the menu and I saw some new items.  Then I remembered that March they have a revamped menu.  So ok.. I will give it a try.  After a long decision, I ordered Maguro Tataki Salad, Lobster Salad Tofu and 1 plate of Edamame, 1 plate of soft shell crab sushi ( don rember exact name but is under Pink Plate) and another Pink plate of prawn sushi, forgotten the name and I never took picture, damn.

Below are what I have ordered for the new items.

Maguro Tataki Salad - nice presentation and the slices of maguro is only cooked slightly on the outer layer and sprinkle with some seasoning, below the maguro is a scoop of mashed potato salad and I love the hard boiled egg too, the fresh raw veggies,  the stringy like thing is made from potato, the sauce is actually nice (dono wat exactly is made of though) and not too much till I get sick of it like the other dish below.

Lobster Tofu Salad - Personally I felt it was too overwhelming for me. Too much of the sauce (very saltish aftertaste, which is exact same sauce as the Maguro Tataki Salad.  Love the the tofu, makes me feel like i am eating pudding. LOL. On top of it is prawn roes and bits of mango. Nice.  But, can change the sauce to something else? It doesn't go well with the lobster meat which already has such a strong taste to it (wasabi was added in with mayo and mix with the lobster meat and also prawn roes, that's why it has a popping sensation in the mouth???)  Is good on its own w/o the sauce or maybe not too much of it.  My conclusion is either you share this with a friend or you DON'T order this together with the Maguro Tataki Salad.  I had to drink lots of green tea to wash it down =(

This is the Soft Shell crab sushi ( don rember exact name, paiseh).  This is simple and nice w/o a doubt.  So no need too much description.  This is fried so if you are watching your diet or whatsoever, share with someone, just nice.. one each :)

Phew, after a Solo Gastranomic Ochestra, I am a happy girl ! Hee ~ Guess how much I paid for?  My total bill was around $30+ (inclusive of GST) and after using my Sakae member card for rebate, I only paid around $2+!!  Mad worth it lah !!  Faster go and be a member now and u are entitled to 1 complimentary green tea which you can refill with hot water at the side.  Go ! Go ! =)
