thanks to the great efforts of a handful of my classmates from our hy4227 history module "sources of singaporean history", our short story assignments made it into print! *。ヾ(。>v<。)ノ゙*。
the book is available online for reading here : 1927 Singapore
my short story can be found here : Chapter 10. Printed in Black & White
I think it's awesome that my classmates managed to secure funding as part of some kind of SG50 grant to put this into print. it's quite surreal seeing something I wrote in an actual book! /also anthologies ftw cos I think that's my preferred format for writing 'more serious' stuff LOL.
I shall just leave the author's note here as a little tidbit into the premise of the story

This story was constructed from mainly my own sources and individual topic research into The Straits Times as well as 1927 advertisements. My textual analysis of the various kinds of advertising made me wonder about the fluidity of identity and purpose (the unreliable “4711” narrator), and that “the observer by the mere action of observing influences the experiment”. The latter idea comes out in the ending of the story. Interesting anecdotes told by classmates made their way into this story as well, and especially Clement Xiao’s detailed presentation on the tram system.
all that fanfic-ing paid off academically! ෆ⃛(ٛ⌯ॢ˃ ɪ ˂ٛ⌯ॢ)

okay wow I am.. not used to the new blogger posting layout o.o shows how long I haven't been here!
just a post to show that no, I have not forgotten this little corner of cyberspace I can call my own :)
mae's recent foray into html reminded me of my own html endeavours -- searching for and modifying my blog themes were definitely ways I learnt and improved my coding skills ;D
and I will always prefer my blogspot design to my lj ones, just for the sheer freedom and free reign I have over the layout and graphical elements.
the only thing about blogger is the security settings as in, choice to set a post to private, friends-only or public. I don't think I can do that here haha.. so I post in lj most of the time :') sssshhh I'm a really private person, honestly.
but I still like my blogger - it has an 'indie' old-school feel to it LOL especially with the rise and utter domination of tumblr, pinterest, instagram -- just to name a few ;D
and anything that has orange in its logo gets my vote (ノ゜ω゜)ノ
just taking intermittent breaks from transcribing my gek2044 lecture - it can get so tedious ;v; if I'm not writing down snippets of my thoughts & feelings, it's scrolling through pretty websites and tumblrs~! ♥

[
+] wrote a USUK piece for Christmas last year.
[
+] subconsciously(?) did it again this year too ^^
from london to new york~
from arthur to alfred's pov~
the theme that runs through them seems to be
it's the littlest things that speak the most about love.
comment: I seem to make it very hard not to ship USUK :D
