     Some mixed emotions today...is this really the last letter I'm sending to an African Carson?





Ya hey all is going well it has been a very fast boring week.
Most of the week we were either waiting to travel traveling and waiting to go home.
We had one proselyting day...and then we went to eldorent for
district conference.  Which will there there was some good talks but 
williams was soooooo bored.
but ya next week no big plans we might party today then have a meeting
tomorrow and then nothing until Saturday we will be traveling to 
Nairobi then the home bells will be ringing.
Bang stupid apple bees you now what i don't care just surprise us
because around that time i ll be just out of it.  So what ever you want 
thats ok with me...

YA i m still here

Hi!  Sorry about your boring week.  Why was your conference so boring?  What kind of party are you having today?  Who's gonna be there?   Where's your meeting tomorrow?  What's that for?

i don't know it was more for the members and leaders than for 
missionaries.  so it was boring.  a going home party but i m broke so we ll just have to see.
at the church in kitale it is ddm as usually.

What are you doing for your going home party?  Why are you broke?  Seems like you've been having a lot of ddm and other conferences lately.  Or is that just me?  Lots of traveling.  Must get old.

What else are you doing today?

we don't know yet but we ll figure it out.  It is the end of the month so.
Probably sleeping but after that i don't know.

Sleeping ?!?!?!?!  What about going out and doing some tracting today?  Only one week left to get it all in!  Are you getting a little trunky yet?  That must be tough too.

So what else can you tell me about this week...  What was the best thing?   What was the worst?  I know the most boring was your meetings but what was the funnest thing this week?  What was the most spiritual?

because it is p day and i m not im my area. so doesn;t make sense.  but y right now i m super trucky.....
it was nothing special this week was super super boring and we did basically nothing.  so nothing to report.

I m in Kitale...
i don't know i ve had mixed feeling bout sleeping in the room next to my parents what ever happened to the toy room down stairs?

Well, I wondered about that room too.  I was always going to convert that toy room into a room for you but your dad wouldn't let me touch it.  So I'm just gonna fix up this one room.  If it gets too awkward...you can talk to dad about that and see what he says.  If you would rather move downy to that room though...knock yourself out. I'm ok with you being wherever you want to be.

Are you ready for this kind of weather when you get home?  This would stop me from being too trunky.

Hey thanks dad really appreciate it when you write. This time next week plus two days i ll be there helping you out again . Really excited for that. For me all is well this side had a fast week and it looks like this one will go down soon. because of all the traveling i have to do. But all will be well in the end.

  When I checked the email this morning...Carson had already written 52 minutes earlier.  So then I was worried that I would have missed him and our little Monday morning chat.  But after about 45 minutes of waiting and waiting and waiting...he came back!  Yay!

(Just a little side note...he mentions how we had a bad week....we just had a few breakdowns...the lawn mower....the garage doors and then Saturday I innocently went along on the Bishops Youth Hike.  I wondered why no other youth leaders showed up.  Just the bishopric.  And ended up going on the most miserable hike known to mankind.  So I may have cried on Carson's shoulders a bit trying to get a bit of sympathy.  That's all.)

Hey mom ya all is well.. i was bout to say that i had a pretty bad week but it seems that you guys bet me that side.

  As for us we did absolutely nothing this week. We stayed in kitale monday to wednesday. and then left wednesday afternoon for eldoret thursday we had Zone conference which was very  very boring i was wanting to sleep but very body kept calling on me so i couldn't sleep. we left for kitale that night and arrived in Kitale stayed there the night and then left for our areas on firday. WE went and saw a family which fed us which was a highlight, and then sat Mormon helping hands we went and cleaned up a police station.  and then after that we went and helped cleaned the church

  lots of fun. 

sunday we went to church are guy to be baptized didin't show up so we had to push his baptism until forther notice. which really sucked. 

But then a family from riruta came and saw me which was super super awesome then even had us for food again so williams was super happy. but other than that not much has happened this week. 

But ya don't worry no matter what home is home if it was all roses and diamonds it wouldn't home. Thats how i remember it and thats how i want to see it... Just because there is arguments and contention we all was overcome it thats all that matters.

Awww Carson.  You and your letters always make me happy.  Sorry you had a rough week too.  Maybe we are doing something right so ol Satan is trying to bring us down.  We'll have a better week coming up for sure.

Did you find anything exciting in the police station?  Were there any prisoners in there at the time?  Did you have to pay any bribes in there?  Ha ha.  Must have been quite the experience.

So zone conf was a snoozer huh.  Too bad.  Did you ever get any more packages from us?  It would be interesting to know how many actually got to you.  Maybe I don't want to know.

Dad just woke up and says hi.  He's headed out to feed/train his horses and then start painting that last wall.  But it rained last night so we'll see if it's actually dry enough.

we don't know yet we don't have any water in the house so it might be 

fasting today and tomorrow.

They were just friends from riruta...and when they came they really 

praised us and said they were missing me and feeding us. because they

don't have any full missionaries that side.

What do you mean no water?  How can you have no water?  Are you seriously not eating today and tomorrow?  WHAT?  Oh two weeks can't happen fast enough for me!

That's too bad about Riruta.  You liked that area if I remember.  Thank goodness they came to feed you.  Maybe they could come back today.

So why the no water?

The water company are having problems... so ya we ll have to see... it 
is not for two weeks half of that i ll be this side and eldoret so it is just today.

How often does the water company have problems?  So you are only there for another week and then eldoret for a week?  Why so many changes?

It shouldn't be for too long but we ll just have to see.  We have
district conference this week and then traveling to Nairobi next week.
and then 3 days in a plane.
So ya lots of fun soon.

That sounds kind of yucky.  If you're doing all that travelling...how can any missionary work get done?

Oh well.  Hope you enjoy.  I guess I should let you get going.  I'm feeling kind of guilty sitting here and watching your dad paint.  And i'm just sitting here.

Here's Ken's letter....

Hey for sure dad we need you around. you need to write all of that knowledge of yours and put it in a book. Ken's guide to life would be pretty neat and probably a best seller too. 

But ya for me all is well. everyone keeps asking me that am i excited scared, nervous. realistically it is a combination of everything. i m excited to see my family, but i m getting nervous about trying to figure out my way home, kind of nervous that i ll miss my flight or something. 

But now i m really missing mission already, we had a bunch of people from one of my old areas in Nairobi come out this side. and it was great to see them, They were saying they were missing cooking for me and i was was like i miss your DA too really much. If miss could be like this always i would never leave. But then there is funny people sitting there making funny noisiness trying to great a mzungu who speaks in clicks and yells. 

But ya all is going good and i m also getting nervous about those worldy desicions i would have to make soon but overall i m just really happy that i came out... 

Overall all is going well miss you all but i ll be seeing you soon.

Hey grandma ya all is going well. For the mormon helping hands we went and did community service at the local police station. 

I played the music last week but this week we were late because my comps bike broke

no primary i have tried to avoid that place.

     I'm going to try to be on time with posting Carson's letters this week.  HA! He wrote me this morning but didn't stick around to chat.  That's ok because...HE'S COMING HOME IN 22 DAYS!!!

Ya all is going well we had a good ddm and exchange nothing really exciting happened. ya wgot it under control but then there was a emergence so long story short it has been pushed to next week we have a few people we met at the church and after that we are just strengthening the members. not really i m just really getting nervous of traveling home and i m missing mission already i had a emergency talk on sunday so i took the oppurtunity to bear my departing testimony and i realize that as much as i want to  go home i m really going to miss these people this side and it is really sad.

YA but all is well just enduring to the end. 

No i don't think so i ll be just there like lets go presidents dinner and then ONWARD TO THE AIRPORT DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE.

Well to my surprise...I found a reply to my letter later this week.  Looks like it came in the next day...

Hi Carson.  What was the emergency?  Glad to hear it's under control!  What do you do to strengthen the members?  What did you have to talk about on Sunday?  Sorry that you're sad about missing your mission already.  But that's a good thing I think.

So does the president make a special dinner for you on your last day...or what happens there?  Good luck with that.  Make sure you tell him thanks from us. Thanks for taking care of you and th other missionaries and especially tell them thanks for the updates he sent every once in a while.  It was really nice.

Any other big plans today?

Well he had a emergency  at work so he was unable to show up...just building the testimonies and stuff like that.  music and dancing...i
Basically just read for the For the strength of youth book.
YA on monday night it will be presidents dinner right before we leave.

ya all is going well this side. We were suppose to have a baptism this week but the buy had a freak emergency and missed so it has been pushed to next week. 

But ya all is good loving mission and have lots of fun this side, Lots of people are making fun of me calling me dead and what not but i still want to work. So ya really excited bout this week we have Zone conference and mormon helping hands so that will be a blast.

Hey mom ya all is going well. um ya so as responding to your email. It doesn't matter to me but ya um relief society... ah i would be willing but i don't know what you want me to say i have never been in that class, I have pocked my eyes in the class but it is like they throw daggers at me via there eyes... so i can say maybe what they do but it would be a short spiritual thought.

as for the bedroom doesn't really matter so long as there is a nice bed there ah what ever doesn't matter to me.

As for us this week has been the same very short but that is because we have a big area and lots of people to see so we are working hard kabisa. 

But ya i m good and all is well thanks for everything hope your there to chat.

Hi Carson.  Don't worry about teaching us about rs.  They'll probably just ask you questions.  I'll ask better details next week.

So i am at Georgia's house. We had cinnamon rolls cooked in oranges on their campfire last night. So good!  Can't wait to spend the day with her tomorrow. Going to ikea to buy you some shelves for your new room. 

Was going to tell you.  Watching a new show on TV.  You know how I like the weird ones.  It's called Zoo.  It's about the animals getting smarter and taking over the world.  Starts out in Africa. There's a pack of five male lions going around killing people.  Gave me nightmares for a week.  So stay away from any lions over there ok.

Ok mom sounds like you are watching some interesting movies that side.  wow wow but ya that sounds like a lot of fun.  enjoy.

Are you walking or riding bikes in your area?  Bikes might give you a better chance at out running those maverick lions.  Are there lions or wildlife where you are at?

There were also these nasty giant bats that flew to Antartica and covered up the solar panels so all the people froze to death.  I hate bats.  Do they have bats over in Africa?

ya we are biking...wildlife like crazy insects and birds and some crazy rabid dogs and cats but no lions...ya there are bats in busia they were living in the roof so there was bat fecus falling from there it was super disgusting and also this flatt that we are living in now is pretty disgusting too.

Ewwwww! Really?  Now I'lll have really bad dreams about you and nasty out of control blood sucking bats for the next four weeks.  Yikes.  Did I mention I hate bats!  I'm never going to Africa!!!

So what's the one food you look forward to eating most when you get back to Canada? What's the one food you never want to see again?

Dang mom their so many foods that i want to eat when i get home. hamburgers pizzas subway your pizza buns and desserts... you no what lets just say mom's cooking ya thats the one thing i m really excited to eat that. 

ugali and sukuma for sure i never want to see that stuff mostly sukuma.  that one has been messing with me for sure

What is sukuma?  Fish?  Well you'll have to let me know what you want me to cook first for you ok?  I'll have it ready and waiting.

Speaking of food...I hate to talk about trunky stuff...but I was going to ask you about what you want to have happen for your homecoming. Not sure how many of your friends will be able to come as it will be the second week in sept...but do you want a big supper or bbq for friends and family Saturday night or Sunday after church?  Any requests for food or who to invite?  

No that is Kale...

just something small a bbq with family and friends sounds awesome...  Sunday after church cause everybody would be around that time... Hamburgers chips and fruits (Fruit dish grapes, STRAWBERRIES RASPBERRIES watermelon) and maybe even moms famous fruit pizza.  Just something small i don't know how many people that i know will be running around that time so what ever just make it a surprise and i ll enjoy KABISA KABISA  Thanks mom your the best

Awwww...no kale?  Gma will be heartbroken.  So will dad.  He loves the stuff.  Hahaha.

I hope when you go do your fireside for the youth you will make ugali and chapati and sukuma for them. That would be kind of fun!

We ll see i can do chapatii just fine but ugali i m still working on and sukuma i don't even want to look at that stuff.

Nope not really just hanging out tell tomorrow then well have ddm.  and then its exchanges i ll go with the district leader to my area and my comp to his area, hangout till Thursday then we ll switch back and then Frid or sat we might be back to Kitale because my comp has a interview with president.  but well just have to see what happens and that sounds like the week.  

Remember when I tried to make ugali before you left?  Is it anything like the ugali they make over there?

What do you do at ddm? Why do they do exchanges?  When do you have your next interview with the pres?  Did he ever give you advice on future job plans?

some how it was nice. just talk bout the scriptures and strength each other, 

MY next interview will be at the end of Aug. when i m going home. 

Nope he said to tell you that "im preparing to be ready and to be worthy to enter the temple to be sealed to the right girl at the right time....."

Well I guess that's good advice.  But that will happen in its own due time.  No need to rush that stuff.  But I'm curious to know what he says about picking an occupation.  As a girl...I picked something I could do in my spare time after being a wife and mom.  But you men have it hard.  You have to pick something that you have to do every day for the rest of your life.  That's pretty tough to do I think.  So get as much advice as you can about that stuff.  Any ideas yet on what your future plans could be?

ya thats what i tried to ask him but i guess will talk bout that when we get in that interview.  I honestly do not know i feel medicine is what i would like to do but than again i don't now exactly..

Well if you like medicine I know a few docs you could come talk to and get some ideas.  I'm sure it will all work out for you Carson.  Just keep your eyes and heart open to what Heavenly Father has in store for you.  Make the most of opportunities you are given and mostly work hard cause it will pay off!  Haha.  Sure love you.  It's six thirty here now. Guess it's almost time to get moving.  Can't wait to see what Taylor learns at camp this week!

Hey Dad

All is well this side i m feeling better now this week. My eyes are better now so we ll just have to see next week. 

But ya for sure MTC wow that was far but it feels like it was yesterday people are like your going home soon. And i m just like now i still have a few transfers but then i think bout it and it s this month,. super super crazy. 

but ya all is good this side really enjoying having lots of good times and lots of fun. 

But also working hard had a good sunday and i guess it is my last fast sunday on mission sweet kabisa,

but ya really grateful for this time that i have had to serve it has been a experience of a life time. 

And technically it is 3 more letters because i don't think that i ll email when im going home i ll just come and talk to ya face to face.

Hey wow grandma thats awesome. As for me all is well this side. I m really enjoying. the flatt is dust the blankets haven't cleaned for a bit and everything is dirty. But guess what .... It is still Awesome for sure.!!!1

This week has been a really adventure. Biking around like crazy health people. And finding people and hopeful this week getting a baptism. These next few weeks seems like it is going to get crazy exchanges my comp has a interview in Eldoret and then the following week is Zone conference and mormon helping hands and district conference, So basically here in Misikhu i get one more sunday then i ll be in three different branches. But ya all is well and im really enjoying and looking forward to seeing everybody back that side. Love you lots CArson

Hey mom

Ya all is well this side. The week has been interesting. The flatt here is bogus not clean and just crazy that is what we have been doing this week and the previous elders before did now work here so there is not any really foundation or any investigators to work on. but ya so we have had an interesting week but in the end we went to church and we have gotten refferals and it looks like next week is going to be super super busy. 

My new companion is awesome he is from eldoret and actually was my district leader in Nairobi so ya all is going great with him/ His name is Elder Anyoso. 

but ya other than what i have said nothing else really has happened.  Ya thanks mom hope all is well at work love you lots

Ewwww.  I would hate to have to come into some yucky unclean flatt like that.  Sounds kind of gross.  But that sounds great about the referrals.  Super excited about your busy week coming up.  And I'm happy that you've got a great companion to work with.

Life in ER is nuts tonight.  We've had 3 stabbings so far, a stroke, 2 heart attacks and many, many stupid whiny complaints. So it's a bit busy here.  It's my fourth night and I'm so excited to have this next week off for a while.  I need to get away from this place.

How big of a branch/ward is there in Kitale?

Well i am in misikhu and we had 64 members there so it was super nice. 

So is Misikhu part of Kitale...or is it a separate town?  How big is it?  Like Lethbridge size? Or Raymond size?

Ya misikhu is far far from Kitale, and it is smaller then welling kabisa.

I didn't realize you were so far away.  I thought you were back in the big city.

it took about an hour and 1/2 to get to kitale it sucked kabisa

Why did it take so long and what was it that made it suck?  Did you ride in a big ol bus?

We had to take a small little bus and everybody was cold so there was no air.  So i was stuck in the back stuck inbetween some people sweating like crazy and i got some motion sickness but all is well now.

Oh that does sound like it would suck.  So when people are cold...how cold/warm is the temperature?  What passes for cold over there?

Any big plans this week?  I know you said you have lots of referrals but anything besides that?  What else are you doing today?

here more just a cool breeze just bout closes schools for a week this morning people were bundled up coats and toques and then there is me t shirt and pants.  Nothing much i m afriad not to many big plans well just have to see what happens

What's the temperature for you today?  Lately it's about 25-28 above.  Are you ready for some winter yet?

like today it is around 10 = 20 but i don't know bout winter yet can i look at it while sitting on the fireplace and drinking hot coca




And then I got REALLY busy at work and wasn't able to finish talking with him.  Too many stabbings and not enough nurses!

Hey dad

Ya all is going well, i m not to happy with president but atleast i know the general area here so it is not a complete white wash but a few of the members have been making fun with me. One is a return missionary from uganda that just came back and when talking bout missionary work she tells me to go somewhere else and that i am dead and my spirit for missionary work is down, but overall all is well.

YA i m excited for that but i just hope i can still shut straight lately my eyes have been some how irritating me i don't know if it is the sun or the dust or what but they are really bugging me. 

ok ya when i get home i ll really want to go back to work so ya i haven't talked to mark at all but i would really like to start with them but if they don\t have any work for me to do then somewhere else would be fine i guess.

Ya all is going well i m back in with my companion too. but ya all is going well it is somehow cold these days so i m getting ready to come back to the freezing cold land of canada. 

As for me i m doing good That sounds like an idea and lots of fun kiswahili is awesome and it is lots of fun so we ll just have to see how much i remember after the plane ride. But ya so miss you all lots and hope you have a great week,

     Carson wrote REALLY early today so even though I woke up at 3:30 am, I missed him.  His note was short and sweet but at least it was something!

HEy mom 

Me all is going well mission is great... i ll try and see what i can do. but i ll need to pull some money off of the card so that i can do that... 

  WE just had transfer news and guess what the tourist (ME) is leaving again he is going back to kitale ah ah ah not again but it will be great i m super excited and looking forward to my last transfer in Kitale \

Ya but all is great i m kind of short of time so i ll write you again when i get that side.

Well Saturday we got a phone call from president. It looks like Elder Harvey is going to Dar Elder Kogo is Training and elder Williams is going back to Kitale 

  ah ah really wasn't to happy with president but then i remember alot of those elders and members that side are really really good friends of mine and even me comp Elder Anyoso is a good guy to so this will be an awesome transfer. the only problem is we are white washing. but other than that all is well i ll be leaving this side to today and arriving that side on Tuesday so not much time to write

Hey ya grandma all is going well this side. I just got transfered again ... back to kitale but in a different area. Called misiku or something like that. but ya i m doing good miss you lots but still having a good time this side, but ya all is good miss you lots hope you have a fantastic week
