Look at What I Missed While Away

Look at what I missed at home while I was spending a balmy week in San Diego:

Look at the amount of snow on the shed roof!!

Look at the amount of snow on those apricot blossoms--not so sure how many apricots my kids will get to pick and sell at the farmers' market this year! But our trees are old and resilient, so I'll keep you posted.

While I was gone the kids were also having lots of fun with their little cousins! Here they are with a giant fake cow at the petting zoo. The thrill of the visit they reported to me was the pony ride!

San Diego!

Fun, fun, fun in the sun in San Diego. I'm having a great time already. I'm here for a week presenting at a research conference. Yesterday, I did my first presentation with my most wonderful friend, colleague, and old roommate Jill.

Here we are ditching our conference for one day to eat, shop, and collect sand and shells at the beach (Tiare's only request from San Diego). Don't worry, back to work tomorrow 8:15 a.m. to 8:15 p.m.--boy that's a lot of intellectual stimulation!

We also stopped by San Diego State University to by some souvenirs for Jill's oldest daughter who is an alum from SDSU. Here we are on a footbridge on the campus.

Oh, yeah, how could I have forgotten we went to my most fav destination no matter what big city that I am in---TRADER JOE'S!! Yummy, I'm snacking on peanut butter pretzels and grape tomatoes right now!! Got my most delicious greek mango yogurt for b-fast tomorrow.

Now, I am doing my other most fav activity when I am away on business and staying in a hotel--watching TV! I'm watching E news right now and have already watched Star Trek and the Beverly Hill Billies!

Ski Season is Over

We had a great season of skiing as a family!

Atticus snowboarded this year. Is that the smirk of a cool snowboarder or the sweet smile of my little guy? Maybe a little bit of both! Atticus was so good at snowboarding that it was just him and a 6th grader in his ski school class this year!

Each year we ski my favorite part is the same--getting to ride up the lift with the kids. It is the best uninterrupted family time ever--just sitting in the beauty of nature and getting to talk. I love it!

But, it's time to wave good-bye to the ski season

(I just love the pix of our gloves drying!)

After skiing, most times we hardly have energy to move, so our favorite apres ski activity is to go get Thai food at our fav restaurant.

But of course it's Utah, so just because it is Spring doesn't mean that the snow has gone away--you know, one day it is 67 degrees out and the next day you've got a big pile of snow again!

So, until next year, we will put away our ski things for now. Chris' latest idea is that the kids will pick our apricots and sell them at the Farmers' Market to raise money for their ski passes next year. I'll try to keep you posted on how this enterprise goes!
