A Post for Hannah.

Hannah,

I thought I would post a few pictures that you took and were proud of.

These are totally unedited by me and all your doing. I just showed you how to hold the camera right and push the button. At first you held it backwards, which you can tell by the first few pictures.

Then you started to figure it out.

There you go!

I love the toes.

Steve.

With Pride,

Mom

P.S. I love your itty bitty guts.

It Went Well.

Merry Christmas!!!

Side Story:

The night before Christmas the upstairs neighbor Louise dropped off some old Thomas the Train Legos her grandkid didn't want anymore. For fun I assembled a few trains and put them under the tree unwrapped for Christmas the next day.

Mistake.

Asher saw the trains first and could have cared less about the other new wrapped toys we had to force him to open and play with.

Today I Am Grateful For...

Yes.

It's true.

This is our Christmas Tree this year.

I secretly love it.

Could there be a more space efficient tree? I'm thinking no.

It's okay. You can dislike it. We'll have a real nice one next year. I've been saying that for a few years now.

So... for the last week our kids have been crazy sick.
Hannah with her barf bowl.
Asher in the back sporting a super high fever. (Almost 104 every night)
It's been a long week man. Sick kids are life-draining awful.

But somehow every day they had brief moments of serious energy. They were coughing and hacking up a lung the whole time.

After being up every night, and no sleep for 4 nights now. My brain feels like this...

So today after a really long week of scary-high fevers, house shaking coughs, and barfing on MY just-washed blankets and sheets...

I'm grateful that all of this happened over the last week and not the coming week.

Seriously. Totally grateful.

I can't wait for Christmas.

A Boy's First Attempt at Being Funny.

Over the past month or so Asher has been showing his first intentional attempts at making jokes.
As his mother I must record...

Walking up to anyone in the house he will say hi and then use the wrong name.

We, his family, think he's hilarious.
Anyone else would think something was wrong with him.

The End.

Liar Liar Pants On Fire.

I'm a big fat liar.

Daily, I lie to Hannah during meal times to get her to eat real food. She is a very picky eater.

Some examples...

These are wishing eggs.
Every time you take a big bite you get to make a wish. Worked like a charm.

And Princesses are pretty because they eat carrots.
My spinach pancakes are Santa's favorite.
Green drink smoothies are magical Christmas smoothies.
Broccoli are mini trees and we cut them down and then eat them.
And when she gets sick I tell her it's because of that candy she ate. It rots your guts.
When a cut heals I tell her it's because of the carrots she ate. They have magic and heal you.

There are many more lies I tell.

I've found that the words princess, Santa, magic, and wishing work rather well with her.

Hopefully heaven understands and isn't keeping track of these lies.

I do what I gotta do.

Asher is not picky. Hallelujah.

Words can't express what a relief it is to have a kid that will eat real food.

I will openly admit during meal times, he's my favorite child.

But all the lies...

and all the magic words...

will not get this kid to eat eggs.

Which is the one thing I can get Hannah to eat.

The fork photo shoot was Hannah's idea. She is quickly taking an interest in photography.

I love it.

But I say a mini prayer every time I hand her my camera that it will survive.

I'm A Grown Up.

Some mothers cry when their kid starts school for the first time.

I don't cry.
I don't get upset.
I'm thrilled.

I was excited for Hannah because I knew she would have a blast.

And she does.

Preschool Sept. 2011

Recently I attended my first parent teacher conference as a parent. (I've been the teacher before.)

Her teachers love her. They said she has the best vocabulary in the class. That was their really nice way of saying she loves to talk.

They said she aced her alphabet and numbers test. Wahoo. Thank you iPad. Who said putting your kid infront of too much technology was bad for you?

Attending a parent teacher conference is what made me feel like a grown up for the first time in my life.

Technically Hannah went to school last year for a couple months at the end of the school year. As soon as potty training was under control.

Kids change quick. They grow up so fast.

Preschool Feb. 2011
I need to stop and spend more time with them.

Asher goes to preschool next year.

People ask what I will do with all that extra time on my hands.

Imagine me smiling from ear to ear in a devilish way when I say this...

"Lots of things."

Mugs.

People always say the kids are spitting
images of Jared.

What I see...

Jared and Hannah have the same hair color.
Lisa and Asher have the same hair color.
Jared and Asher have the same mouth/eye/nose/cheek area.
Lisa and Hannah have the same eye shape, mouth, and chin.

What do you think?
