This weeks challenge...Insects!

This weeks snappyfriends challenge is insects....a macro lens would of come in handy for this challenge...but still saving! The blue Salvia is still flowering and the bumble bees are loving it! Bee on a Pincushion flower....
Although you cant't see the moth clearly, I just liked the shape of the wings outlined against the vibrant colour of the Achillea. A bit like we see in stitcheries we do...makes me see how someone like Leanne Beasley draws inspiration from her garden in her designs!
Enjoy your week

Vintage Chic Sewing Caddy

Yes I know...2 posts in one day...but I was so pleased to have my Ruby Brown Sewing Caddy finished. I have admired Jo's for so long, and delighted when I saw she had the patterns for sale on her blog! Its surprising how much you can fit in this little caddy!
The fabrics that I used are Faye Burgos Sachet Pot Pourri, which I purchased on Saturday at Quilted Crow Gathering.

Little shoe pincushions...I dipped the wooden skewer in Rose oil when stuffing, made them smell so nice!
Enjoy your week

The Gathering...part 2

This is the birdie pincushion that Leonie and Dierdre made for all us to ladies who attended the Gathering to take home...a bag of lollies (as we need to keep our energy levels up for stitching)lol!... and the folder full of patterns (which is going to keep me busy over easter!) Marg Lowe (in jacket) and Leonie (Leonies hair doesn't usually flare out at bottom like that, she has just quickly turned her head) Yes...just like in the Pantene commercial!lol!
Busy stitchers...Sandra and Fiona

Debbie and Judy

Jo and Helen...hope I'm not in trouble for taking these sneaky pics!

Have a great week

The Gathering...part 1

Thankyou Leonie and Dierdre for another great day at the Autumn Gathering! With Gail Pan and Marg Low...what lovely talented ladies! It was so nice to spend the day with Fiona, Jo, Helen Sandra, Judy, Debbie and of course my sister Jane! Gails projects...wallhanging and needle case...just so sweet!
A bit of a mix here...Gails bag at the back, with Margs Book bag and book mark at front. On the right, you can see part of Gails table runner.

Margs Journals in three sizes, bookmark and key holder.

All my fabric and pattern purchases. The Ruby Browns bag pattern can be purchased from Jo.

And last of all, is the stitching that I was working on, from Anni Downs Garden Journal Stitchalong. I don't usually start the projects from our goody bag on the day, as I like to take my time and choose fabrics and threads when I get home. Just not too sure what to start next...so many lovely designs to choose from!
I will do another post later, as I have a few more pics to show!
Have a Great Day

Delish!...and Eeek!

Its not very often that I get the thumbs up from all the kids when I cook them dinner. But miracles can happen!! Thankyou so much Fiona for your Chicken Wellington recipe and your vegetables. This is definately going to be a regular on the menu! Sorry if these pictures give the creepy crawlies... but I love taking pictures of the spiders and their webs in the garden. This picture was taken just after the rain, and she was so busy weaving her web that she didn't even bother about me! She sure made use of all her legs.It really ended up being a work of art!

Only two sleeps to go to the Q/Crow Gathering, and am so looking forward to it!

Some More Red!

A couple mentioned after yesterdays red challenge post, that they would like to see my red shoes and handbag...So here are all my favourites...even one of my coats!

Challenge...Red!

This weeks challenge is red...my favourite colour. I could show you pics of my many pairs of red shoes, or my red handbag...but have decided on flowers instead! The first two pictures were taken just after it rained. I liked the picture of the red geranium because of the hidden spider web. Can you see it? It only stands out because of the raindrops on it...otherwise I'm sure I would of missed it!

This was taken at my Mums...not sure of the name of the lily, but Scarborough comes to mind?Mums even unsure what its called.
Hope you all have a great week!

A Gardeners Journal Stitch along

I have joined Chookyblues Garden Journal Quilt stitch along. I already have all of Annis' books, as I am a big fan of all her designs. I have made a few of the small stitcheries, from the book, for journal and binder covers, and am really looking forward to doing the quilt! This is going to be so much fun! Pop over to see Chookyblue if your interested. Love Cherry Ripes and easy to make sweets? Then you will love this Choc-Cherry Ice-cream slice! This is one of the things I made for my eldests 13th birthday...It is so yum!
Line a lamington tray with baking paper and arrange malt biscuits on the bottom. Beat 600ml cream until soft peaks form, add sweetened condensed milk (380g)
then 3 x 85g roughly chopped cherry ripe bars. Spread over layed bickies, then place another layer on top. Cover with cling wrap and freeze overnight. (Recipe from 4 Ingredients book)

Getting Close Now!

With only a week to the Quilted Crows Gathering, I thought I would hunt out my mug bag in readiness for what is sure to be another fantastic day! My sister and myself have been to all these gatherings since they started. We've had some great designers over the years...Helen Stubbings, Leanne Beasely, Rosalie Quinlan, Natalie Bird, Anni Downs, Lynette Anderson, Natalie Ross, Kerry Gillespie (Hope I haven't missed anyone out) I think each year, we come home with something new that we've learnt...With Helen Stubbing one year, besides showing us how to needleturn applique and her colourque technique, she also showed me how to do a knot, by wrapping the thread around the needle and running it down the thread...I know its only small but makes stitching life so much easier!(No more trimming knots)lol! This year we have Gail Pan and Marg Low...who are also two very talented designers. I have been very slack this week and have no sewing to show, however, I have traced, ready to stitch another vintage cushion. Most of today has been spent cooking, ready for my eldest boys big 13th birthday this weekend! Not sure where all those years have gone...it's a bit scary how quickly!

Heritage Block

All the sewers in our community, have been asked to do a block for a heritage quilt to hang in our local museum. This was quite a challenge, to draw a picture from a black and white photocopy, when not all the details are clear ( couldn't even see horses bottom!) and to then stitch it. I chose to stitch it with just a black thread.
As my deadline was April and it seemed to be fast approaching, I thought I had better get a wiggle on, so its nice to finally have it finished!

This is the B & W copy I had...of a Mr Basil Bayles with his father in 1913, winning entry agricultural society show.
Hope your having a great week!

Photo Challenge....Signs!

On Snappyfriends latest post, they have asked if anyone would like to join them on there weekly challenges on our own blog. So, I have joined them, as I love taking photos! It really does make you look at your surroundings differently too! This weeks challenge is signs..... This is the walking track where we take with our dog Jess...along the foreshore, which has fantastic views! It is a bit of a tonque twister to say though, so we just call it 'Loon' track!
This sign is on a resort just on the outskirts of where I live...

On the crafty side of things, I have finished my little crochet bag and a couple more little motifs(yes, I will stop shortly)lol! We are having a long weekend here, so hope to get some sewing done tonight...Leanne Beasleys large bag from her Romacing the Roadtrip book...hopefully!
Hope your all having a great weekend!
