Prepping for a Garden!

March 19, 2011

I have wanted to plant a garden for several years now but then when I start thinking about it I think that I have "missed" the time to plant. But really, here in AZ, you can plant something all year round!

So we are making a garden box just from cement blocks. Fill it with dirt and walla! Just need to plant!

On the list to plant this week:
carrots
green peppers
cucumbers
snap beans
tomatoes
sweet potatoes
summer squash
sweet corn

I seriously can't wait to have fresh veggies!

She's 6 months old!

March 18, 2011

Emmry, Emmry, Emmry why do you have to grow so much, so fast? Please stop!

I love your little hands, your little toes, your tiny button nose, your little tushie and chubby kissable cheeks. I love you to pieces.

What do ya say she loved the tissue paper on the Dr.'s table?!

In fact, she loves any kind of paper! If I'm nice I will give her a piece to go to town on until it gets too soggy and starts to rip apart. She's not a happy camper when I take it away.

After her Dr. appointment she played outside while I worked a bit on getting things ready for my garden spot! (Yes, I'm very excited about this. Very, very excited.)

Happy, happy. I really think it was the tweety bird Band aids that made the shots feel better. Ok, maybe a little of Mommy's kisses and cuddles too.

Emmry's 6 month stats:
weight: 13lbs 14 oz (13%)
height: 26 inches, which is 2 feet 2 inches (61%)
head circumference: 16 inches (9%)

Petite, I know. But I absolutely love her to death!

St. Patrick's Day

March 17, 2011

Mr. Leprechaun came and went. But not without leaving a mess behind.

(yes, I know. He is not the best speller, and even spelled his own name wrong.)

He first appeared in Tage's room and then left a trail of clovers from his room, down the stairs, across the living room and on the kitchen table to a lucky surprise!

I ended up making waffles for breakfast (really because I wanted them and then Tage said he wanted those instead of cereal), but they were green too because the leprechaun must have drank out of the milk container so it turned the milk green! (and he drank out of Tage's water jug that was in the fridge too! Green water!)

As we were out for a morning walk we saw our neighbors. I asked how their Patty's Day morning was and if they had any green breakfast. Nope. In fact, they weren't even wearing green! I had to fix that problem. So I made some green rice crispy treats, shaped them into clovers and made a few water bottles green. Walla! I felt much better.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Mesa Temple

March 16, 2011

I really felt like I needed to go to the temple this last month or so. It's not so easy when Emmry is "attached" and the temple is 45min-1 hour away. I thought that if I could find someone to come with me and watch Emmry on the temple grounds then I could feed her just after or just before I go in. Plus, I wouldn't have separation anxiety as long.

Since this past week was spring break (and such nice weather), I called my friend Connie and asked her if she felt comfortable enough to have her daughter, Alanna, come with me down to the temple and babysit the kids outside on the temple grounds or go in the visitor center and watch a church video.

Funny I asked when I did because her and her 2 girls were going down to Mesa the next day anyway because of prior arrangements set up. She said that they would meet us there and watch Tage and Emmry while I go to the temple!
It was such a good opportunity to talk to Tage about the temple and share my testimony with him.
What a blessing it was to have such sweet friends that would take the time to help me and allow me the chance to do the Lords work. I am so blessed. I am blessed to have the knowledge of an eternal family, to have my family, and blessed to be a Mother, a Daughter of God.

1st Swim

March 15, 2011

Warm enough to hit the pool! Emmry's first swim was a success!

She loved it! Even though I thought that the "heated" pool was a bit too cold for me, she was splashing around and seemed to quite enjoy herself. I'm glad because we will spend A LOT of time there.

Dads New Ride

March 12, 2011

It took Ty almost a month to find something he liked, that was in our price range, with low miles, clean, no damage, etc. But we finally found something off Craig's List!

Type: BMW 5 series.
Color: Olive Metallic. (It actually is a really nice color)
Drives: Fast. (it has a hard time going under 60 mph)
Love it: YES!

It's always fun to get a new car but it's not fun for the bank account! And it was not fun being a one car family for that long. The only good thing about it was that I got a lot of exercise walking everywhere in Vistancia. We actually ended up renting a car off and on because Ty didn't want to take the Excursion each day all the way over to Scottsdale for work. I'm just glad we are so blessed to have 2 cars.

We actually have been having quite the car problems lately. The GMC truck didn't run when the Honda died so we had to put a new battery in so it would at least run, but it has other problems so we really couldn't drive it. It was our emergency vehicle. The Excursion actually had some problems with it this last weekend and luckily it was only a $500 fix and not the $6,000 fix to replace the whole motor. The BMW had to have new tires on it ASAP and has some grinding going on coming from the front left tire. After going back to Discount Tire several times for rotating and balancing and Tyson working on it himself at home we decided to upgrade the tires. Still didn't fix it. Ty thinks that it is the rotors so we will be having to work on that this week.

Vehicles are nothing but a money pit. We have a love/hate relationship with them.

Rolled over.....again!

This time I saw it! Today she went from her back to her tummy in a blink of an eye. I now have to have a much closer eye on her. (Not that I didn't before....)

She is rolling over all the time!

Zeus wanted to be in the photoshoot too....I don't think Emmry liked that.

VIP

Tage was the VIP in his class last week.

He filled out an "All About Me" poster, got to bring his favorite book for the teacher to read one day during reading time (he brought in some Paul Bunion book. Not his favorite I'm sure of that. It must have been quick to grab. I really don't know what his favorite book is right now), a treat for the class one day, "show and tell" item(s). Tage chose items. He brought ALL is football cards and ALL his little helmets of all the NFL teams. There was ALOT! He proceeded to pull out one card at a time and the class would thumbs up or thumbs down if they liked that player (he is in a class of 27 with only 6 girls. Football is a BIG thing!). After about 10-12 cards his teacher said that that was plenty and they don't have enough time to do them all. Tage was bummed that he couldn't go through his whole bag of over 100 cards.

Rolled Over!

Emmry rolled over last night and I MISSED IT! I know, I know, I wanted to cry.

I was in the kitchen cleaning up and I had her on the floor in the living room on her back. She was a little fussy off and on and I just kept saying, "It's ok sweetheart, your fine." When I went back in the room she was on her tummy! HORRAY but so SAD all at the same time. I hope that she will do it for me today.

Another thing I have missed her doing is shakin' her bum bum. What she does is dig her little heals into the floor and lift up her bum and lower back and moves her tushie left and right. It is seriously so cute! She was doing it all the time for a couple weeks, now nothing. Dang it! I kept saying that I need to video her, but never did. Now, I have had the video camera ready to go so if she starts to do it I will be ready, but she hasn't been doing it lately. I'm so sad. I wanted to record it!

If I'm a lucky lady today she will do BOTH for me. But that's only if I'm lucky.

Size Doesn't Matter

So I have a friend that has a son who is only 2 days younger than Emmry. We occasionally get together for mommy play dates. I know Emmry is a little peanut and petite for her age, but I think it is really funny looking at another baby her same age side by side.

Brant kept trying to hold Emmry's hand. I think that his Mom better have a chit chat with him about dating so young.

In fact, Brant has slowed down on his growing a bit and I think Emmry is slowly catching up compared to how they looked at 4 months old.

LIttle Missionary

Tage will be baptized this Saturday so I wanted to take a picture of him all dressed up in his Sunday best for his invitations. (He is very excited for his baptism. More to come on that special day later....)

He looks so handsome.

He's 8!

Disclaimer: I didn't edit any of these pictures. Lazy tonight and just wanted to get them posted.

Tage turned 8 this past Saturday! Are you kiddin' me?!?!? 8! Hard to believe, I know!
He began his day by opening up his gifts and then we were off to his last football game of the winter season (He has already started practicing for spring season. It never stops. Football, football, football.)
He wanted an ipad or an ipod touch. Um, sorry kid, your a good boy, but not that good :) He got a new football, athletic shorts, a suit (for his baptism), shirts, money, cowboy boots.........
After his game we went to lunch at Salties (mexican) with his team for a final team party. They handed out the kids trophies and even sang Happy Birthday to Tage. After that we just went home and hung out. Nothing exciting. Tage watched a movie and played the wii. He wanted Cafe Rio for dinner, but I didn't have the stuff to make it and it would take longer than time allowed to make it so then he asked for homemade pizza, but I didn't have any pepperoni so he settled with lasagna (settling was a wrong word, he really does like it!) Then it was cake time!
No, he is not praying. I don't know what the heck he was doing.
He made me light the candles again because he didn't blow them all out the first time. But, nor did he the second time either.

5 months old

I'm only 11 days past her 5 month mark, but hey, I'm talking about it now!

Emmry is definitely a mommy's girls, but getting better at being with Tyson for longer periods of time as long as she doesn't see me. She LOVES Tage. And Tage LOVES her. Tage can ALWAYS make her smile. No matter what. She loves to be outside and I love the AZ temps right now so we go on at least 2-3 walks per day. She likes to sit in her bumbo, play in her exasaucer, and hang out on her tummy on the floor. She actually is very good at holding herself up and reaches for toys in front of her. She loves her oatmeal. It took awhile for it to happen, but just within the past few days she is chowin' down on it. I keep saying I am going to start her on veggies, but never make it to the store and when I do, I forget. She hasn't rolled over from back to tummy yet but can go to the side, usually it is the right side. She has made it over from tummy to back though! I can kiss and squeeze this little squirt all.day.long! Can't get enough of her, even if she is cranky.
This is after baffy time. We got her hair cut that day and I wanted to play hair stylist. I love her little bit of curl when it is wet. But when it is dry it just goes crazy, weird and brushes the curl out.
I attempted another photo shoot for her 5 month pics. Not bad, but not great. I figure I have this expensive camera, I better practice and learn how to use it!
So big at holding herself up!
