Christmas 2010

Rigby Family Christmas Party
Dec. 22
A night of fun, food and of course the Christmas story.

Tage not paying attention and making funny faces at me

Christmas Eve
We (minus Tage) spent the evening at my parents house. (This was our off year with Tage and he spent Christmas eve and Christmas morning with his other Mom) We had a yummy dinner and a night of fun laughing and talking together.

We played an old game called "Funny Bones." The purpose of the game is to hold the card that tells you what bones to connect together in between those bones.

This is Michelle and I connecting our knee bone to knee bone, hand to hip and head to head....
and yes, it was funny.

In our new Christmas jammies!

Christmas Morning
Emmry got an activity gym from Santa!

She didn't know quite what to think about it at first, then loved it!

Tage's Santa loot. Football, football, football.
After spending Christmas morning at Tyson's parents and having a yummy breakfast we went over to my parents for awhile. We opened more gifts and then just relaxed!
My Mom fell asleep with Emmry....

Ok, she was just dozing. She wouldn't admit that she was asleep. So we told her to pretend that she was sleeping so we could get a cute 'Grandma and baby picture'.

We picked up Tage late afternoon and went back to Tyson's parents house so we could have Christmas morning all over again.

Anything and everything that has to deal with football was on his list.
We waited to open Emmry's gifts until Tage could be with us. Emmry obviously didn't care, but it was fun seeing Tage get excited about helping her with her gifts, telling her what it is and showing her how it works.
I just love this picture of Miss Em!

I have no idea what these movies are about, but Tage has been asking for them for a long time now. So we bought them for him. "Like Mike" 1 AND 2!
Emmry loving her Santa gift!

Mini photo shoot in her Christmas outfit.

Christmas Night
We had a pretend Christmas Eve picture in their Christmas jammies
Then I called it a day and went to bed early with Emmry.

I would consider this a wonderful Christmas. We are so blessed.

Poor baby

We got back from Utah yesterday and Emmry got my cold. We have just been hangin' out in our jammies all day, reading books and taking naps together.

It makes me so sad though that she is sick.

Hit me HARD!

Tonight I put Emmry to bed and something hit me like a ton of bricks.....She's getting big! I hear that all the time and I even say that all the time, but really! She's growing up too fast! It was a sad, sad moment. I just want to hold her forever.

Blessing Day

Today we blessed our angel. I am so thankful Tyson holds the priesthood and is worthy to give Emmry this special blessing. The blessing was heartfelt and perfect for her. I was glad that we did it in Utah so that our families could be apart of this special day.

Emmry looked absolutely beautiful. (More pics of just her coming...) Ever since I found out that I was pregnant with a little girl I wanted to make her blessing dress. I had actually been working on crocheting her dress since the summer, but never got it done. Not to make excuses, but I got side tracked with all the pre baby preparations and for some reason I had this crazy thought that I would have more time after she was born to work on it. Hello?! What was I thinking?! I barely had enough time to shower on some days! So, needless to say I was working on it just an hour before her blessing and decided that I would call it quits. I didn't want her to be blessed in a mini skirt. Blessing dresses are suppose to be long and beautiful. Mine was not looking that way. In fact, I had been having trouble with it from the very beginning figuring out the size and gauge. It actually was a little bit snug for her weeks ago that I had to increase the size in a few spots.

Good thing my Mom had saved my little sister Michelle's blessing dress otherwise I was off the the store right before her blessing. But hey, I did quickly make a headband and bow for her! (Once again, thank heavens for my Mom who had a stash of ribbon on hand!)

I guess I will just finish her dress for one of her baby dolls or something. All that hard work can't be for nothing!

She's 3 months already

Oh, Emmry, Emmry, Emmry, your already 3 months old! I seriously can't believe it! You are such a cutie pie. I love, love, love you!

My lighting was absolutely horrible in these pictures, but here are a few on her 3 month birthday.

She found her tongue not too long ago and was chewing on it like a mad cow, but now she is creating raspberries all-the-time!

My sweet Emmry,

You have started to coo and make sounds when you smile and when we talk to you. You are such a happy smiley baby! I'm sure anytime now you will begin laughing. You are starting to reach and to bat and kick at your toys. You love to be in your 'kick and play' bouncer. You have a good grasp on your little hands and have got a hold of my hair a few times and I had to pry your tiny fingers open for you to let go. When I place a toy in your hand you can hold onto it and have started to bring it up to your mouth. Same with your binks. When it starts to fall out you try to push it back in with your arm or fist. Although you have not succeeded yet, I'm sure it won't be long until you will. You like to suck on your fists, mostly your right one. I bet you will be right handed. I put socks over your hands sometimes to stop you. I don't want you to find your thumb and be a thumb sucker. Although you found it one time, I caught you pretty quick and took it out. I would rather deal with trying to get you off your binks than your thumb. You found your tongue. You just started out by chewing it all the time, but now you have developed the skill of making slobbery raspberries. Lots and lots of them! That means your shirts are getting wet from all you slobber. Your worse than Zeus sometimes! I either need to put a bib on you or start changing your shirts more.
I have let you watch cartoons a few times and you seem to love it! You smile and make sounds at the T.V. You must like all the sounds, colors and movements.
I often wonder what goes on in that little head of yours. Your little body just can't seem to keep up to your mind which is going a million miles per hour I'm sure.
I think that you look like a mini me. When you were first born I saw more of your daddy in you, but I now think you look more like me. I think that your eyes will be brown like mine too. I hope so. Either that or you will have green eyes like your dads. I love it that you look like me though, I hope you do too.
I hope you know that I love you more than anything in this whole world. You are my little angel and such a blessing to me. You are a choice daughter of God. He loves you and so do I. I want to live my life so we can be together forever. I hope you will always strive to do the same.
Remember who you are and what you stand for. I love you sweetheart.
Love,
Mommy

Where's my present?

It's just a week before Christmas and I still have a lot of buying and wrapping to do. Even Zeus thought so.

Morning Cartoons

Sometime I let Emmry watch cartoons. She actually smiles and pays attention to it. I think that she likes the colors, movements and sounds.

I don't know who likes them more.....Tage or Emmry.

You wanna piece of me?

I have been catching Emmry sucking on her fists so I put sock over her hands so she won't find her thumb. She looks like a little boxer.

Sleeping Beauty

Emmry has been sleeping through the night for about 2 weeks now! I get a good 7hr+ stretch from her. The time of going to bed and waking up still fluctuates, but I get my beauty sleep too!

And yes, she is almost 3 months old and is still in her bassinet next to me. I don't know why. I really should move her into her room but I keep telling myself, "oh, I will tomorrow."

Now the question tonight is......
why am I still up at midnight trying to get things done? I should be in bed!

Because Santa gets it for FREE!

Tage: Mom, can I rip out this page (from some dirt bike/4-wheeler magazine) and mail it to Santa Claus?
Mom: Sure, I don't care.
Tage: I will just scribble out the prices because it's expensive! See, look Mom, these pants are $135!
Mom: Yep, your right, that's expensive.
Tage: Because Santa gets it for free anyway. That's why I will just ask him for it for Christmas.

Made in China

Tage: I wish Christmas was everyday.
Mom: We can't have Christmas everyday.
Tage: How come? I wish it was.
Mom: Because it takes the elves all year long to make enough toys for all the children around the world.
Tage: Well they didn't make my dirt bike I got last year.
Mom: What?! Why do you say that?
Tage: Then how come it says 'Made in China' on it?
Mom: Well Santa orders parts from China and the elves assemble it.

All aboard the Polar Express

Do you B E L I E V E?

I bet you didn't know that the North Pole it just a short 2 1/2 hrs from our house huh?! Well, it is! From a small town of Williams, Arizona you can board the Grand Canyon Railroad's Polar Express and travel to the North Pole and back all in just 1 1/2 hrs.

Last Monday right after Tage got home from school, we put on our jammies and went up to Williams to ride the Polar Express. I have been wanting to do this ever since my friend Kristin told me about it a few years ago. It sounded so magical for kids.

Once you board they pass out cookies and hot chocolate

Then the conductor comes around and punches your ticket. And they read the Polar Express story.

You sing Christmas songs as loud as you can.

After you have passed through the 'time warp zone' you soon arrive at the North Pole.

Although you don't ever leave the train, you can look out the window as you pass by the North Pole where you see Santa Claus and his favorite elf waving to you. The North Pole is a cute little town all lit up with lights and decorations on the houses and colorful berries on the bushes.

On the reverse way back, Santa Claus is missing. If you sing "Here Comes Santa Claus" loud enough he will pass through your train cart handing all the kids a bell. And you know what that means.....if you hear the bell, you B E L I E V E!

Love, love, love this picture I captured

Even Miss America got a bell
Emmry was awake and a perfect angel the whole ride up to the North Pole. Then once we were on our way back she fell fast asleep. I guess she didn't want to miss out on seeing Santa Claus either!
So I ask you again.... "Do you B E L I E V E?"

We do!

Javelinas

A couple weeks ago we had some late night visitors on our doorstep.

Wild Javelinas!!

It was around 11:30pm and I was up on the computer in the office (which is right by the front door). I all of a sudden heard some animals scuffing around. It sounded like they were fighting right by my front door! I didn't know what the heck to think! I was even too scared to look out the window! Zeus began barking up a storm. I peeked out the front office window and saw some animal right up against the house. I couldn't tell exactly what it was. Zeus is still going crazy mind you. I went upstairs and woke Ty up. I told him that there is some kind of animals fighting on our front porch like a coyote or one of those wild pigs. When we looked out again we got a better look and saw 3 or 4 javelinas. Ugly creatures if you ask me. They were fighting over our Halloween pumpkin Tage had painted that was STILL on out front porch. (I know, I know. It's December and we still had a pumpkin on our porch) One of them was a complete hog (ha ha ha, get it...)and got mad every time another one came close to it.
We woke Tage up and watched the javelinas go to town on the pumpkin. We should have popped some popcorn or had a midnight snack ourselves.....
After 2 hours of trying to get Zeus to chill and me getting in and out of bed, I decided that their feast was over. I went into the backyard and grabbed a handful of rocks. I cracked the front door and started chucking them on the porch to scare them away. Nope, didn't even phase them. I asked Ty where his bb gun was. Just kidding, I didn't shoot them. I finally got the guts to just walk out there and take away their pumpkin feast.
Ahhh, finally Zeus was quiet and our unwelcomed guests left.....

......until the next night when they returned.

I had just put the pumpkin in the laundry room because I was going to take it out to the garbage in the morning, but Tage took it outside to show his friends. I thought that he had thrown it away. At least the second night it was earlier. They came about 8:30pm and a few neighbors got to have a look at our new friends. (Tage named them, but I can't remember what they were) We let them practically finish the pumpkin until we were ready to go to bed, then I threw it away so Zeus wouldn't bark and wake me up.

Are they real?

Tage came busting through the door one day after school and these were his first words out of his mouth.

Tage: Mom, is Santa Claus real?
Mom: Um yah, why?
Tage: Because Sebastian says he isn't.
Mom: Well, do you believe?
Tage: Yes.
Mom: Then don't worry about what Sebastians says and just worry about yourself.

Tage: Is the tooth fairy real? Sebastian says it's not.
Mom: Do you believe?
Tage: Yes.
Mom: Then don't worry about what Sebastian says and just worry about yourself.

Tage: Is the Easter bunny real? Sebastian says no.
Mom: Do you believe?
Tage: Yes.
Mom: Then don't worry about what Sebastians says and just worry about yourself.

We continued back and forth, me saying the same thing, with whatever he asked if "they were real."

After this conversation is when I told Ty that we HAD to go on the Polar Express. So we did!

Happy Birthday Zeus!

He's no longer the baby of the family, but I still treat him as one.
He sill has his own couch.
He will walk up to the fridge and know that I will always give him an ice cube.
He has eaten more socks that I can count. Luckily they always come out one end or the other.
He still follows me wherever I go in the house if he can't see me.
He sleeps all the time like an old lazy dog
We still love, love, love him!

Getting my beauty sleep!
Most Christmas shopping done. (I found a new love for Amazon. Thank you, Amazon!)
Laundry up the wazoo.

Kissing Emmry's yummy kissable cheeks.
Crocheting like an old lady. (No, not in my rocker)
Singing Christmas songs in the shower.

Hopefully I will give a better update soon. And of course I will include pictures!

Family pictures, but minus Dad

I guess I shouldn't really be calling them family pictures then huh!

Last week we were suppose to have family pictures taken but Ty never showed up. (He let me know right when we were to be going that he wasn't going to make it. Lovely, I know.) So Since Tage, Emmry and I were all ready we thought that we would do a few pics with just us.

Well, long story short, Tage fell off his bike on the way up the street to where we were going to take the pictures and got his clothes all dirty and had a bloody arm. I got a little upset, but then apologized and told him that we could just do a few pictures and not get his arm in it. He was then cranky and left to go home (at least that's where I assumed he was going). I just let him go.
Now it was just Emmry and I. So we turned our 'family pictures' into a 'just Mom and daughter photo shoot'

Here are just a few I have edited

Oh, and amongst it all I ran into a tree branch and hit my head. But I am happy to report that nothing happen to Miss Emmry other than her shoes kept falling off.

But wait....

As we were going home, Tage was coming back up to meet us! He had cleaned up his bloody arm, changed his shirt into something that still matched our 'colors', changed his attitude, and was ready for pictures.

Tage: Mom, was that a good decision?
Mom: Definitely! The best decision! You are the BEST!
Tage: Because I knew that we were having family pictures and I wanted to be good.

Now let me just add that he got extra wii time that night, and got to stay up 30 minutes past his bed time! Woo hoo!

Thanks Brittany for snapping a few pictures. Hopefully this week we will have better luck with everything.
