Back to School

Tyson had orientation Friday, but his first day was officially Monday.  He hates back to school pictures.  I don't know why.  I also don't know why he insists on wearing a sweater every day.  Even when it's 100 degrees.  Silly boy.
And Easton started preschool today!  We are doing a neighborhood "joy school" where the kids rotate around to 1 of 5 houses each week.

He is smiling like a super hero in this picture - in case you couldn't tell.
New Nikes and Justice League backpack.

He went to the other Pages' house for the first day and learned about a-a-alligators.  I'm so glad Katie took pictures!

We ran some errands later and Easton asked if we could listen to a Christmas CD while we drove.  We share the same love of Christmas.  While we drove he said, "summer is just not fun anymore."  I said, "ya, I'm kinda ready for fall" and he said, "I just want snow and Christmas."  Melts my heart:)

As much as I love Christmas, we still have a little bit of summer to try to have fun in.  So after dinner we went to the Highland Splash Park for a little while.  It was a lot less crowded than usual and the weather felt so nice!  I guess I can handle summer a little longer...

I do NOT know why I always video sideways.  It's a problem! I promise I won't do it again.

Happy Birthday Aunt Kate!

Last week we got to help knock down some walls and later a ceiling in Grandma and Grandpa Cook's kitchen.  Easton thought it was a great time.

Callan was a little apprehensive at first, but he caught on.

Since their kitchen is out of commission for who knows how long, we got to celebrate Aunt Kate's 21st birthday at our house.  I had to take a picture of the lovely centerpiece.  I asked Tyson to take Easton out on an expedition in search of wild sunflowers.  They grow in fields all around our house and right off the road so I thought it would be fun for them to just go grab some.  Before they left Tyson asked, "you mean the kind out in the grass right here?" Thinking he meant the tall grass in the fields, I said yes.  He asked if I wanted the stems long and since I was putting them in a mason jar, I said no.  10 minutes later they came back with a styrofoam bowl full of about 50 dandelions.  Just the heads.  No stems.  I think I stared at the bowl forever trying to figure out if he was joking!  He wasn't:).  I laughed and told them to try again.  Tyson said, "Let's go East.  We got the wrong kind" and Easton said, "That's because she told us to get sunflowers dad."  It was so funny!  They succeeded the second time.

Trace came too!  So nice to have him home.

Happy Birthday Aunt Kate!

Dinosaurs

Last week Aunt Amanda took us to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point with her Kennecott pass!  The boys had so much fun together!

Love this one.  On the move.

We played in the sandy river.

Crew did NOT like the texture of the sand!

I worked 40 hours this week!  Yikes!  Tyson was so great keeping the house clean and kids happy all week.  They all got a cold which is mostly gone now.  Poor Tyson had it the worst.  Tyson had orientation for his second year of pharmacy school.  Callan had major withdrawals when daddy left.  He went around crying, "want mo daddy!" ALL DAY LONG!

And I made 15 jars of peach jam.  I'm a little proud.

Boating

A couple weeks ago we went boating with some of my work friends.  It was so nice of Kristen and Weston to take us!  It was a perfect day for boating.  The lake was so calm.
 Aunt Kels was there too:)
We all tried surfing.  I didn't really get the hang of it, but it was fun.  I look like I just won the lottery so I must be having fun.

Kristen offered Easton an Airhead and he quickly declined.  We had to keep saying, "are you sure?  It's candy!" And finally he ate it and enjoyed it.  A few days later he said, "Mom, remember when I ate that Airhead on the boat?  Well I checked my head and and it's still made of bone."

Easton even let the boat pull him on his tummy.  He did great!
We had so much fun!  On the way home some neighbors invited us over to roast marshmallows.  So we did that and had fun talking with them while the kids played.  We got home late, got the kids to bed, and got ourselves ready for bed.  Right before I hit the lights I happened to look down at my planner that was next to my bed and realized it was our anniversary.

Miscellaneous

I found some pictures I forgot to post.  Right before we went to Park City I was checking Easton's teeth after he brushed and noticed that he was missing a good chunk of one of his teeth!  He had fallen on Grandma's fireplace the week before, but of course I never thought to check his teeth!  Before we left for our anniversary trip we made and emergency visit to Aunt Kate at the dentist.   I was worried because you can see another layer of tooth inside.  Luckily they said it was fine!
With Dad home for the last few weeks I bet we couldn't even count how many gas station Cokes we've downed.  And of course, there's Callan with his hands down his diaper.  Just picture him saying, "pee.  pee.  pee."

We put the new batteries in the boys' horse and they love it.

Horses say, "yee-haw."

I've been working a lot, have I mentioned that? One day last week I went to leave for work, but the car battery wouldn't start.  We tried to jump it but didn't have a good connection or something so it wasn't working.  The boys ended up having to take me to work.  It was a really busy day and I got out of there 10 or 15 minutes late.  When I got out to the parking lot they were there to pick me up.  I opened the door and all three boys had a bouquet of flowers for me.  It was so sweet!

Park City Parts I & II

Tyson and I were able to sneak away to Park City Monday and Tuesday of last week to celebrate our 5 year anniversary!  Time flies!  We dropped the kids off with my parents and headed to the Outlets.  We didn't find very many good deals since it is right before school starting, but it was nice to shop a little without kids.  We ate a yummy lunch at Kneaders and checked into the Marriott.  We took a three hour nap which was soooooooo very much needed.  We went to the old Main Street and walked around all the shops.  We ate dinner at Cisero's and enjoyed all the photography galleries.

When booking the trip, I thought it would be fun to get the package that included mountain bike rentals.  Having not been on a bike since I was 12 -riding to Desi's house and back- I had no idea what I was in for.  We got our bikes and rode to the grocery store to get some breakfast.  I thought I was going to die in just that short distance.  My anxiety kicked in full force and I was just sure I was going to get hit by a car.  On the sidewalk.  Tyson thought it would be a good idea to ride our bikes from our hotel to the Canyons Resort where we wanted to ride.  He would be happy to tell you that HE WAS WRONG!  It was a long ride!  By the time we actually got the resort, after many wrong turns and detours, I was 99% sure my bum was purpley bruised.  Seriously.  It hurt SO bad.  The whole time I was thinking that it was way worse than childbirth.  I don't know maybe I'm dramatic.  We rode the lift up (which was also terrifying for some reason) and looked around for a trail map.  We found out all the trails down were like black diamond or whatever the code is for "you might die" difficulty.  So we had to upgrade our lift pass and go up further to get to the "bunny hill" so to speak.  Somehow we crossed paths with a more difficult trail and ended up spending some time on wooden bridges and stuff.  I can't say that the words I was screaming were nice at this point.  Anyway we made it down and that was it.  I told Tyson he could keep riding if he wanted to and I would be happy to take a bus back to the hotel.  He declined.    After all that we still had to ride back to the hotel!  Needless to say, I sat on a pillow for several days thereafter.

We were so excited to see those kiddos when we got back!  We were home Wednesday and Thursday and then on Friday we all went back to Park City with the Pages!  We stopped at the Outlets again first.  Found some good clearance deals for the kiddos.  Easton, Callan, and Crew got matching camo Crocs.

We swam at the hotel pool and ate a DELICIOUS dinner at Baja Cantina.

The dads played some Twilight Golf while the girls put the kids to bed.  The kids were so tired and I had such a hard time getting them to sleep!  At 6:00 it felt like 10.  The boys went golfing again in the morning so Callan woke up when an alarm went off at 5AM!  We had to get out of the room so that Easton could keep sleeping so went to the grocery store and got some donuts and milk to bring back.

Callan totally cheesed it for this picture.

We went to the Olympic Park not knowing really what to expect.  There were people at all levels practicing their snow ski jumps off a ramp into a pool!  It was so cool to watch.  Some were just little kids!  They go off the jumps in full gear including helmets and life jackets into the pool.  Kinda crazy.

We explored the museum which was really neat.

Easton and Cal thought they were hilarious stuffing grapes in their mouths like chipmunks.  The best part was listening to them giggle at each other.  So much fun.
We ate Cafe Rio and swam some more.  Then we went to the Park City Resort.  Tyson and Easton did the trampolines.  The lady helped Easton do a couple back flips and he says this was the best part of the vacation.

And we all rode the Alpine Slide.

We had so much fun!  Glad we could spend some time with our Page family!
