Jackie Tucker
December 16, 1932 — September 21, 2024
Grace Jacquiline Tucker, age 91, of Mt. Emmons returned to her heavenly father on September 21, 2024, in the comfort of her home.
She was born December 16, 1932, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Pearl Harmon and Carrie Cromer Foreman Willard. She was the youngest of six girls and openly admitted to being spoiled rotten. Her family was very close and always did things together. Her parents were converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1941, her family moved to Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Kelly highschool in 1949 at the age of 16, and then worked as a legal secretary in Chicago where she developed a love for always wearing dresses and three inch heels.
She married Vearl Ray Tucker on June 18, 1959, in the Logan Utah Temple. She moved to Germany with her husband in 1960 while he served in the US Army. After a brief stint in Logan, Utah, they moved to Mt. Emmons in 1963 where they would make home and immerse themselves thoroughly in the community. Jackie loved her neighbors, friends, and family in a way that made each of them feel they were her favorite.
Jackie worked full time at Moon Lake Electric from 1977 to 1998, was an Avon Lady for over 20 years, all while raising her seven children in a home filled with love, laughter, and ever changing plans. She served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Vearl served two missions; one as CES Missionaries in the Singapore Mission, serving in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, and one as stay-at-home missionaries. They were also ordinance workers in the Provo and Vernal Temples, a calling that was a “dream job”. She was loved very much and her sense of humor, witty and timely comments, which she had to the very end, will be deeply missed.
Jackie’s legacy lives on through her husband of 65 years, Vearl, of Mt. Emmons; children, Sandy (Randy) Bywater, Upalco; Janae (Bryant) Austin, Mapleton; Julie (Kaye) Seeley, Bluebell; Angie (Scott) Ellingford, Evanston, WY; Vearl Gene “Vege” (Dawn) Tucker, Vernal; Bill (Amie) Tucker, Gunnison; Patty (Brian) Weaver, Orem; 30 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Bywater; her parents; her five sisters, Carolyn Bridgewaters, Rosemary Beals, Ada Bedwell, Lora “Dode” Jackson, and Joan Hrubec.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Altamont Stake Center. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Altamont Cemetery.
