I was told that I won the Halloween Quilt from the raffle at the carnival. I can't be more excited. It is so cute and I know all of the work that is put into the making of these quilts. Thanks so very much.
I am not a quilter. (My mother was the very talented one in that department.) I LOVE them and know how much time and work goes into the creation of a quilt. I will cherish this quilt!
I went to pick up the quilt at the school today!
This blog shows a bit of life in my world. It is a place to put down my thoughts and feelings and communicate with family and/or friends. If you stop by, leave a message so I know you were here!

Elders' Quorum Presidency Visit
Why is it when I have things scattered everywhere people decide to come visit me? Oh well, I hope they could look past the clutter.
During the conversation, we were talking about how many years that I taught before retiring. When I stated that I had put in 40 years, the President looked at me and said, "What?! Were you ten when you started?" Of course, I loved that!

Miss Saigon
Cassy and I were able to go to the theater last night. (Thanks Earl & John) I love seeing the stories performed on stage - the sets and costuming are always amazing.
This story is about Viet Nam, of which my knowledge is limited. It is a depressing story, but the acting was amazing!

New garage door opener unit
I have fought with my garage door only working intermittently for quite awhile now... well, over a year or two. We could get it to work, but within a short amount of time, it would freeze up again.
I am getting too old and weak to keep manually opening and closing the door each time. With winter coming, I really wanted it to work again. I finally had it replaced today, so I hope it will work ALWAYS now!
It was an expensive fix but as long as it really works, I am happy.
One of the workers who installed this was a former student of mine. It is always fun to run into these kids all grown up.

Preparing for winter
My lawn has had its final mowing for the season and we still have irrigation water so I am giving the lawn a final drink, too. I can't believe we have water in October! That is very unusual.
I don't know what kind of bush this is, but I think it is pretty.

Happy Birthday Mary
Mary's birthday was the 9th, but we waited until Saturday to celebrate because all of her sisters could be home for the celebration!
Mary absolutely LOVES Halloween so that was the theme of the evening. Here you can see the table settings.
Mary requested soup as her birthday dinner. We had pumpkin soup. Here it is in the witch cauldron.
We also had open face grilled cheese sandwiches. Can you see the ghost and the pumpkin?
Mary wanted lime jello so Beth made it in a brain mold. It was very tasty.
Here Mary is opening presents:
Mary wanted to have her picture taken with her birthday cake. This is a unicorn cake. Inside there are lots of colors!
