Friendship

“It occurred to Pooh and Piglet that they hadn't heard from Eeyore for several days, so they put on their hats and their coats and together they trotted across the Hundred Acre Wood to Eeyore's stick house.
Inside the house was Eeyore.
"Hello, Eeyore," said Pooh.
"Hello, Pooh. Hello, Piglet," said Eeyore, in a glum sounding voice.
"We just thought we'd check in on you," said Piglet, "we hadn't heard from you, and so we wanted to know if you were okay."
Eeyore was silent for a moment.
"Am I okay?" Eeyore asked, eventually. "Well, I don't know, to be honest. Are any of us really okay? That's what I ask myself. All I can tell you, Pooh and Piglet, is that right now I feel really rather sad, and alone, and not much fun to be around at all--which is why I haven't bothered you. I figured you wouldn't want to waste your time hanging out with someone who is sad, and alone, and not much fun to be around at all."
Pooh looked and Piglet, and Piglet looked at Pooh, and they both sat down, one on either side of Eeyore in his stick house.
Eeyore looked at them in surprise. "What are you doing?"
"We're sitting here with you," said Pooh, "because we are your friends. And true friends don't care if someone is feeling sad, or alone, or not much fun to be around at all. True friends are there for you in all situations and under all circumstances. And so here we are."
"Oh," said Eeyore. "Oh."
And the three of them sat there in silence, and while Pooh and Piglet said nothing at all; somehow, almost imperceptibly, Eeyore started to feel a very tiny bit better.
Eeyore felt better because Pooh and Piglet were there.
No more; no less.”
This is what love and compassion looks like. This is how you can be a good friend.
When someone comes to you, shares a personal struggle, or finds themself in a difficult spot, compassion and empathy allow you the chance to sit with them and listen. There is no advice necessary to share and nothing to fix; just listen…
Just be there.

Activity Day

We had activity day today.  I didn't know that JR. Cheer Clinic was taking place at the school.  That took many of our girls, but the three that came had a great time.
We learned about being good citizens.
I began by reading "What if Everybody Did That?" By Ellen Javernick and then. "I Am a Good Citizen" by Mary Ann Hoffman.  we recited the 12th article of faith.  We looked at examples of people being good citizens and people not being good  citizens. We played a matching game of good citizen choices.  We colored on our 12th article of faith page.

If I could live my life again

A year ago I was asked what I would like to do if I could live my life again.  Here were my thoughts:

I was asked tonight what I would like to do if I could live my life again. I didn’t have to think long about that. I would want to be a teacher again. It was the only thing that I ever wanted to be. That dream was realized in my life. I have loved being a teacher, almost every second! Sure, I would probably make changes because I wasn’t perfect, but I would want to teach!

More snow?

It has been so nice to be warm enough that some of the snow has disappeared and the piles have shrunk some, but we are supposed to get more snow tonight and during the next couple days. I sure hope that it doesn't accumulate. I can actually see the roof in many areas.

Snowing again

It is snowing again and forecasted to continue all day long.   I shoveled the sidewalk this morning.  Four hours later you couldn't see any sidewalk and we had at least 3-4 new inches.
I am stuck in the garage again.  We have a lot of snow!

Here are some after the neighbors came and plowed:

I am so thankful for the help!

Activity Day

For our Activity Day, we cleaned the toys in the nursery!
Then we spent time writing in our books catching up on the activities we have done this year.
