Being thought of

I was given these cookies by this sweet former student.  I think what means the most to me is that even though I am not her teacher now, she still thinks of me and wants to remember me.  That means such a great deal to me.

Reflecting back a year

A year ago I was contemplating retirement. I went to Monroe to try to figure out what was the best thing for me to do. I was in a loving home where I was talked to about different angles and possibilities in my life. Everything happened so quickly towards me making this decision. In August when I began the school year, I had not even been considering this at all.
It amazes me as I look at photos from the trip. I barely saw snow at all on the trip, both ways. It does NOT look like that this year, at least here in the Basin! I am glad that I had good weather so that I could make the trip.
It didn't take me much longer to make the final decision and here I am today - a retired person who is surviving life!

Adult tasks

Sometimes, adulting is a little difficult. I think I have taken care of a couple of those tasks today! Growing older brings a few more challenges.

Taxes sent in!

I am so excited - my taxes were just sent in today! I almost always do this in April! I guess not working every day, I have time to do things: gather documents, etc. where I was too tired with little time previously.
I always love when that is finished! It feels good to be finished!

I get a whole $6 back from state this year.  I do get some back from federal, although it is not enough close to what I normally get back.

Do we have enough snow?

Don't we have enough snow for summer needs, yet? I know how important it is to receive the snow, but I am so done with the amounts that we have received all at once the past few weeks!
It keeps coming and coming.  It shrinks a little in between but we still have a great deal of snow!
Thank goodness, I live close enough in town to walk where I need to go, but sometimes it is so slick and icy or puddles of deep water from melting snow, etc.
For those of you who live where you haven't been bombarded with snow, WATCH OUT because I may be moving in with you soon!
I don't know what I would do without help from all of the community members that take care of me! Thank you again. I hope you are receiving blessings from heaven!

Beautiful moon

I had to take something over to Beth this morning before work and I was amazed at the beauty of the moon in the sky. I didn't have my phone to take a picture and the clouds covered it up a few minutes later when I went back home.
Here are a couple photos from the internet:

Activity Day:Family History

Today we had Activity Days.  We went to the Family History Center at church to see what is there and what we can learn.  We started gathering information about our ancestors and wrote in books they gave us at the library.

We gathered around a "campfire" and told stories about our ancestors.  Our relatives stay alive as long as well tell their stories.  They are not forgotten.

We had s'mores as a treat!

Missing Mom

17 years ago, we lost our Mom. I do miss you Mom. I hope that you are helping to guide and direct me through the choices and decisions that I make in my life. Love you!

Snow removal again

I have been snowed in for a couple of days now. Val Oman was the one who came to dig my car out this time.  This looks beautiful!
To those who don’t live here, look at how big the snow piles are!

Thanks to Meg

Meg rescued me and picked up my prescriptions from the pharmacy in Roosevelt and brought them up to me.  This was during the time I couldn't get out of the garage!

DNA ancestry

One of my Christmas gifts was a DNA kit from Ancestry.com.  I received my results early this morning.  This is what it says!

Valentines Day

Altamont Elementary puts on an appreciation dinner for everyone who volunteers at the school.  It is their annual thank you to everyone!  It was a very nice dinner.

We have had so much more snow.  I couldn't get out of the garage so was planning on walking to the school.  A neighbor from the community came and plowed me out.  I didn't even hear him, but I am so thankful for his help.  People of our community really are nice people.  I thought that was an amazing Valentine's present.

Me

Here are a few pictures of me taken within the last week or so.

Valentines

Tonight there was a knock on the door and Dave Jessup, my ministering elder, was standing there with this amazing sugar cookie.  He told me "Happy Valentine's Day!"  He then shoveled my sidewalk - very much needed.  Wasn't that sweet?

Pantry tackled

Finally tried to tackle cleaning my pantry. I knew it was bad, but it was disgusting because mice had been in there and made the biggest mess. I have made progress but it took a couple of days. The floor area took a huge cleaning.

I need to figure out a rotation system, too, because some of that food was way outdated!

I am going to try to put some of the items in containers so that mice can not get to them.

I had no idea that they would eat some of the things they did, like raw pasta noodles!

Sweet Appreciation

Tonight, out of the blue, I had a phone call from Cassy.  She told me that she just wanted to tell me how much she appreciated me in her life as she was growing up.  It was the sweetest conversation!  I love her with all of my heart!

Activity Day

Lizzie taught the girls about good hygiene, taking good care of our bodies.

After that they worked on making a Valentine treat for their parents.  They decorated a cup with hearts and filled it with candies.
