Surprise
There was a knock on my door and I received these sweet treats with smiles and wishes of a great new year. Thanks to the Sherry Lemmon family for providing me a huge smile to end this year with. Thanks for
thinking of me. May your New Year bring you great blessings.
Shocking News
This was such a shock. Reed is my friend, Sandra's son. I taught him in Kindergarten many years ago.
Douglas Reed Swasey, age 40, of Mountain Home, passed away December 29, 2017, at his home of a sudden heart attack.
He was born April 10, 1977 to Douglas and Sandra Bleazard Swasey in Provo. He grew up in Boneta and attended school in Altamont where he graduated in 1995. While in school, he became a member of the Upper Country Search and Rescue. After graduation, he attended UVSC for a year and then started working with his dad at Swasey's Foodtown running the computers and keeping the systems operating. Around 2001, Reed started managing and operating Swasey's Other Place, a convenience store and gas station in Altamont. He was very competitive and proud of his fuel prices. He enjoyed visiting with the many people that stopped in each day. He loved knowing what was going on in the community and kept his police scanner on both at home and at the store.
He was a caring person who loved his family and friends, and often surprised them with thoughtful gifts. He was passionate about many things. He loved country music and never missed a chance to go to a concert, no matter how far the drive. He loved being around children, especially his nieces and nephews, and would tease them and tell the girls that he was going to cut off their ponytails with his pocket knife.
Reed was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served faithfully for the last several years as the finance clerk in the Lake Fork Ward. He was a Ham radio operator and had a passion for technology. He loved buying new and different vehicles and was always proud to show them off. He liked to add his personal touches and at least one big antenna to each one. He enjoyed traveling to Yellowstone and had made his last trip in the fall. He loved photography and taking pictures of wildlife, especially in Yellowstone.
Reed is survived by his parents, Doug and Sandra, of Mountain Home; sisters, Stephanie (Zak) Mecham, Roosevelt; Tiffany (Brian) Brown, Saratoga Springs; nieces and nephews, Brady, Blake, Brennen, Britlee, Kaili, Kinzi; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grant and Lois Bleazard and Sherman and Birdie Swasey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2017, at 12:00 noon, at the Lake Fork Ward LDS Chapel in Mountain Home. Viewings will be held at the church on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:30-11:45 a.m.
Burial will be in the Mountain Home-Boneta Cemetery.
