Summer reading

I recently finished these books.

I liked the book Drop Zone.  It is a part of her Saint Squad series.  Synopsis of book: Paige Vickers needs a new life, so she’s relieved when she’s given an assignment that takes her away from her stressful position as a psychiatric nurse with the CIA and puts her in a job as administrative assistant for Vanessa Johnson, an instructor for undercover operatives at the CIA’s training facility. At the same time, Damian Schmitt has been transferred to become a part of the Saint Squad—an elite group of Navy SEALs. However, on his first training mission with the team, he is almost killed, and the team suspects that the nearly fatal exercise was no accident. Then tensions accelerate when the rest of the squad is deployed on a secret mission—only to come up missing. When the Saint Squad’s disappearance endangers Paige’s boss, it is up to Paige and Damian to discover what has happened by going undercover to Maracaibo, Venezuela, the city of Damian’s childhood. The shocking twists and turns keep all the members of the team guessing as they push to find out who is responsible for the attacks on the tightly knit Saint Squad.

The next book that I read was Fail Safe. I really enjoyed this book.  I felt that it wasn't as predictable as many other books.

Here is the synopsis of this book:
In the wide-open landscape of Pennsylvania, Charlotte Martin and her father live a peaceful life on their farm . . . or so it seems. In truth, the rural locale provides the perfect front for the father-daughter NSA operatives as they expertly carry out their mission: using a high-tech computer system, they protect a team of undercover agents. Some would kill to have access to this system, and it makes Charlotte and her father prime targets. It was only a matter of time before this nightmare unexpectedly crashed down on them, and only Charlotte escaped with her life. Before Dwight Martin died, though, he initiated the failsafe lockdown, and now Charlotte’s the only one who can access the system. Writer Jake Bradford left the serene Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia for the hustle and bustle of New York to pursue his dreams and never looked back. Until now. Entrusted with his ailing grandmother’s care, Jake knows he needs help—and he can’t believe his luck when a lovely young woman providentially appears on his doorstep. Charlotte creates a new persona for herself and quickly develops a bond with Jake’s grandmother. But it’s the connection she feels with Jake that makes it almost too easy to lose sight of her reality: she is being hunted by men who will stop at nothing to access the intelligence she protects. With time running out, can the couple find a future together, or will Charlotte’s secrets tear them apart?

The next book that I tackled was Danger Ahead.
Synopsis: Brooke Clayton is not who she claimed to be, a harsh reality that Corporal Hunter “Owl” Ezell faces as he observes the façade surrounding the woman he loved crumbling before his eyes. Brooke’s past criminal activity has caught up with her—and as a result of her involvement in Joined Forces, an illicit group of environmental activists, Hunter’s life is on the line. Brooke tried to escape her past, but her former associates have other plans for her. Joined Forces is unwilling to let such a valuable asset go, and if she hopes to save Hunter, she must cooperate. When she’s approached by the FBI, Brooke grasps desperately at their offer: go undercover to expose Joined Forces in exchange for immunity from prosecution for her past crimes. Aided by Hunter’s Special Forces team, the group boldly takes on the world of organized crime. In an explosive turn of events, the team realizes how deeply the corruption is rooted—but not before several of their members are captured. Now at the mercy of the extremists, their only hope of rescue is Brooke and Hunter. The clock is ticking—but as the broken couple fights for their own lives, can they learn to work together before the time runs out for their friends?

Sister Gardner

Here are some recent shots of Sister Gardner (Cassy)!
Sure do love that girl.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to my amazing father.   There are some many things that I appreciate about how I was raised and the sacrifices that were made for us, that I didn't realize and understand as a child.
Thank you Sidney Snapp for all that you ever did for me.  It is appreciated and you are loved!

I was blessed to have another father figure in my life.  Thank you to that father, Frank, for the part that you too have played in making me the person that I am.  Your love, help and advice was always appreciated.  May your Father's Day be fantastic!

Construction at the School

I was driving by and suddenly realized that they have raised the roof of the school over the lunchroom area. I understand that was to accommodate the new air conditioning system.

I have never noticed that before.  Has it always been there?
It is on the roof above the gym.

 This is in my room.

 They are re-roofing.
This is the area above my room.  The boarded up window is my room.
