All of My Heart

Being called into the Relief Society President again has humbled me. I know that I am not living up to all the things that I know I should do.  This song has been running through my head over and over again lately. This is what I need to do.

All of My Heart

I’m learning of the Savior, I feel His love for me.  I realize His sacrifice in Gethsemane. And when I felt He gave His all I had desire to learn, If there was anything I could offer in return, and I learned that -
All of my heart, no more, no less.  All of my heart was His request.  He gave his all, not merely a part, so I will give all of my heart.

I have decided to stand on His side. And I must have a loyalty I never will divide.  Although other voices would call me away, I have made choices and here I will stay, always, with -
All of my heart, no more, no less.  All of my heart is His request.  He gave his all, not merely a part, so I will give all of my heart.

All of my heart, no more, no less.  All of my heart is His request.  He gave his all, not merely a part, so I will give all of my heart.

Birthday surprise!

What a surprising day today was at school.  I was teaching, as usual, when surprised by a couple of teachers bringing in a some flowers in a vase and watched as they placed it on my table.   With it, there was a sign wishing me a Happy Birthday and year! (My birthday is happening this weekend.)  I thought that was a nice gesture, but had no idea at what was going to happen next.  Every few minutes someone came in with more flowers and added to the vase.  There were more and more throughout the day.  By the end of the day, I had been given 59 stems of flowers...3 big vases full.

I had confessed that this birthday was going to be a tough one for me.  Dad was 59 when he passed away and it scares me that this may be the year for me, as well. I know that it isn't rational, but that doesn't make those feelings go away.   It is this inner fear I face.  By now, Dad had had several heart attacks, etc.  But none the less, it is a concern for me.

It was decided that I needed 59 of something else to fill my mind with.... so 59 flowers it was!  Isn't that about the sweetest thing you have ever heard of?  I can't even tell how special that made me feel, after the embarassment subsided.  I cannot thank them enough!

Relaxing - Way Too Much

I have had such a relaxing Spring Break.  I have enjoyed watching several movies.  My favorite two were Maleficent and Divergent.  I LOVED both of them.

I just finished read Clair Poulson's new book called Murder at Tophouse.  Here is the synopsis:

Officer Mike Denton can't shake the feeling that something isn't right. Since the shooting that nearly killed him, Mike has attempted to piece his life back together. Just when he thought things were starting to look up, false allegations leveled by his partner, Cal Granberg, have led to his suspension, and Mike begins to suspect that Cal may have played a role in the deadly attack. He has only one clue: a conversation he was never meant to hear involving guns in New Zealand.

Suspicious that he may have stumbled on an illegal gun trafficking plot, Mike sees his suspension as an opportunity to conduct an independent investigation into the shady actions of his ex-partner. He prepares for a month-long vacation to New Zealand to find the proof that would clear his good name but what he couldn't prepare for his lovely young New Zealander Skylie Yates, a woman with her own troubles. A dangerous enemy believes that Skylie is the key to finding a hidden fortune. The problem: Skylie claims to know nothing about the money. Now, Mike must set aside his own quest for evidence in order to discover who's behind the threats to the woman he's coming to care for. But when his two investigations collide and Skylie's life hangs in the balance, Mike finds himself in a race against time to unearth a corruption far deeper than he could have imagined . . .

 It was Ok.

Visits

I can't even tell you the last time someone came to my house to visit so it isn't something that I expect.  Tuesday morning, I finally got my taxes finished and submitted on the computer.  Right after I hit the submit button, there was a knock on the door.  I got up to answer it and to my surprise Terri Mitchell was there.  Travis and she had come back for a quick trip to pick up the last items here in Utah.  She had a birthday present to drop off and they were literally on their way out of town. They are officially moved now.  It was kind of difficult moment.  Terri has been a good friend to me here in Altamont.

I decided to relax in the evening.  I went into the bedroom around 8pm and changed into my jammies and crawled into bed to read.  My back was sore, so I rubbed a little icy hot on it.  Shortly after that, there was a loud knock on the door again.  I threw a robe on and went to answer the door.  To my surprise, the Bishop was standing there.  He asked to come in. I looked so lovely in my robe and the living room was a mess, but in he came.  He chatted for a minute and then said that he would get right to the point.  He issued me a new calling.

I am sure that this must be unique.  How many people are issued a calling in the jammies smelling like IcyHot?  I have to admit that I hadn't seen this one coming even a little bit!

I was called to be a member of the new Relief Society presidency.
President:  Kathy Oman
1st Counselor: Suzzy Rowley
2nd Counselor: Carol Snapp
Secretary:  Sarah Heaton

I am thrilled to work with these sisters but I sure didn't see it coming!

Drama

I don't know what is going on, but there has been so much drama going on in my classroom this year.  Many behaviors that are NOT typical for them at all.  I sure hope spring vacation clears out all of the bizarre behavior!

Spring Break begins

So, it is time to go home today. We were cleaning up and a student comes up to me and says, "Miss Snapp you are really going to miss not seeing us for nine days, aren't you?" I said, "Why, yes, of course I am." He had me hold out my hand and places a cough drop in my hand as he tells me he wants me to have this to remind me of him. I said, "A cough drop?" His reply was "Yes, I want it to remind you of me,"

Okay, then! Happy Spring Break!

April 1

My favorite thing at school today was an activity called, "Can you follow directions?" The directions tell them to read through the whole test before beginning to do any of what it asks you to do. I only had one student read and follow directions. The remainder of the class were playing ring a round the rosie, running around the room yelling we are the best class in the school, giving high fives, etc. You should have seen their faces when they got to the final direction..... Ignore everything on the test except #1 and #2 which told them to put your name on the paper and hand it in. It was so much fun!
We decided that directions might be important to read - especially during our big testing in about a month! They thought I was a meanie for tricking them. I didn't trick them. They did it to themselves!
