More snow? Really?

I woke up this morning to no power again, as well as about 10 inches of snow!  Is this really April?  The snow is a very wet, heavy snow!  It sure is pretty.

School was interesting today.  The power came on about 7:30 and we started school with power, but sometime before 9:00 it went off again.  It was off most of the morning.  I am glad that we have at least one window!

UFO???

It wasn't the new snow that upset me this morning, although I was surprised to see 6-7 inches had fallen since I went to bed!    I woke up about 4am (NOT totally unusual), immediately realizing that something wasn't quite right.  Given a few more minutes to fully awaken, I realized that the power was out.  However, as I lay in bed I could see this blinking light(?) taking place through the blinds at the window.  After watching this for a few minutes, I got up and opened the door to see what was taking place across the street.

To my surprise, nothing was taking place over there at Moon Lake Electric - but the strangely colored sky was going from bright to dim, dim to bright, etc.  Freaky to say the least. I checked the back door only to find the same sight.

I looked up and around the sky to see if there was a UFO present or what. I thought that I had finally snapped and lost my mind and was going to have to make a trip to the insane asylum. Seeing nothing but snow and the strange fading in and out light, I went back to bed.

About 5 minutes later, the power returned on. A few minutes later, I looked over at the window and could no longer see the "blinking."  I don't think I ever really went back to sleep although I stayed in bed and tried to relax and get some rest.

Wondering how I would ever explain this to others - I cautiously approached the subject at school to discover that I was NOT the only one seeing this. OK, others experienced this as well so I must not be totally crazy, after all!

This strange sight was caused by the flare at the gas plant... something about how it was reflected by the stormy clouds was just bizarre!
