The Celestial CIty

I finished reading part 2:

Six months have passed since the LDS prophet’s memorable visit to Manti, and the United States has suffered through a harsh winter. Meanwhile, the Coalition forces have methodically taken control of the nation—except for the Rocky Mountains, where the ice and snow have kept the Saints hidden away from the world.

But spring has arrived, and the Coalition soldiers are on the move again. In response, the Elders of Israel have been called forth from the mountain camps to defend their liberty. Someone Wants Mandy Dead.....

 "Someone wants Mandy dead" were the words on the top of the back cover of the book, Cold River by Liz Adair.  That peaked my interest in this book right away.  I have to admit, I enjoyed this little romance mystery quite a bit.  It actually had enough twists and turns, that I did not figure out who the real villian was until near the end of the book.  I found that very enjoyable!

Mandy Steenburg thinks her doctorate in education has prepared her to run any school district - until she tangles with the moonshine-making, coon-dog-owning denizens of a tiny district in Pacific Northwest timber country. She's determined to make a difference, but the local populace still looks to the former superintendent for leadership. When Mandy lands in the middle of an old feud and someone keeps trying to kill her, instinct tells her to run. And though she has to literally swim through perilous waters, she finds a reason to stay and chance the odds. 

Caller ID

I enjoyed this book that was written by Rachelle J. Christensen.

When twenty-three-year-old Courtney Beckham is abducted near her home, the search turns up more than just a kidnapping crime. FBI agent Jason Edwards investigates the ten-million-dollar ransom and stumbles upon something he wasn't meant to find. Wow, this book sure is one that makes you think.  It is interesting to see how the author thinks that the prophecies of the Last Days before Christ's Second Coming could take place.  The events and the speed of events as they came forth were a bit unsettling for me.  Difficult choices will have to made. That is certain.
