School is fun

Two comments this week that made my day!

Emily Loertscher told her mother, "I like school Mom. Math used to be just math, but Miss Snapp makes it fun!"

I heard from Jodi Thacker on facebook:
"I just wanted to let you know Hunter is really missing you this year. You really made him feel important. He comments often on what a good teacher you were and how he wishes you could have moved up to the 5th grade with him. I am amazed at the positive infuence a teacher can have on their students. Thanks for being such special a teacher to our children. Jodi"

Bronchitis again!

I took off from school and went to the clinic again today to learn that I have bronchitis. I was given a prescription for Cipro. I sure hope it knocks this fast. I have no voice.

All the sounds of the earth are like music
All the sounds of the earth are like music
The breeze is so busy it don't miss a tree
An' a ol' weepin' willer is laughin' at me

Oh, what a beautiful Mornin'
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I've got a beautiful feelin'
Everything's goin' my way.

Books finished recently

I recently finished reading two Books: Crossroads and Backlash both by Traci Hunter Abramson. Bonnie gave me Crossroads on Cd to listen to for my recent trip to Provo. I almost finished the cd on the trip out and back. I only had a few chapters left so I broke the book out and finished reading the rest!

When I went into Deseret Book, I discovered the next book had been released, so I also picked it up! I finished this one Sunday morning.

I enjoy her books.

Visit with Sandra (revised)

The day I took off from school for Marie to do my hair, I had the opportunity to visit Sandra twice. The first time was right as I arrived in town, I headed straight for the Care Center. When I arrived no one else was in Sandra's room and she was asleep. I didn't want to wake her, so I just sat down in the chair to wait for awhile.

After about 10-15 minutes, she started stirring and opening her eyes. I got up and went to the bed calling Sandra's name. I think she was in that confused state as you first wake up because she didn't notice me there. When I did get her attention, I told her who I was but I don't think she connected at that point. (T00 droggy from sleep) I started to talk to her about her grandchildren and she grinned. She told me she had seen Tiffany the day before but that no one had been in yet that morning. When I mentioned taking off from school to come have my hair done by Marie, she got a very sad look on her face. She is worried about school. I felt bad that I had made her so sad. She closed her eyes and told me she was tired. I told her to sleep and that I would come back after Marie did my hair.

When I went back, Doug and one of the therapists were in the room with her. She had fallen asleep again and Doug insisted on waking her up. She looked at me and smiled this time and I did feel that she knew who I was. Doug told me to talk with her about school. When I mentioned that it was as crazy as ever, she again got a worried look on her face and started saying that she didn't know how she could get back to school and take care of the class. Doug reminded her that it was all taken care of. He told her that Paula was taking care of the class. She relaxed and said, "Oh, good!." Doug told me that school is one of the issues that she doesn't remember and that they have that conversation quite often.

She was in a lot of pain, I think, due to a bladder infection or urinary track infection. It hurt her to go to the bathroom. Doug had the nurses come in to check her and he and I went out into the hall for a few minutes.

When I left, she said "Thank you for coming to see me." I assured her that was no problem and that we only wished we were closer for more visits. I told her to do what they tell her to do and work hard so that she can get better as soon as possible. She said, "I will."

I do so wish she were closer so we could all visit more often.

New Hair do!

I finally made connections with Marie to work on my hair! She is one busy little gal. I took a personal leave day so that I could meet my appointment with Marie and then visit with Sandra. I HATE writing lesson plans, but it was worth it.

Where does the time go?

Where does the time go? Here we are with 2 weeks of school behind us already. We are settling into our routines and the days are starting to go faster. I sure hope that we can hire a PE teacher/aide soon though. I am having a hard time coming up with meaningful activities in that area!

News continues to come in of Sandra's improvements. I am so glad about that! She still has the trach in but they are trying to wean her off of it. Both the girls commented on how wonderful it was to hear Sandra's voice last week. I hope to be able to make it out to see her within the next couple of weeks.

Primary continues to keep me on my toes. It is important to have lots of activities ready with this class! The program is coming in a couple of weeks. I don't know so many of these songs. They are pretty, but unfamiliar to me.

AHS had their tryouts for the fall musical last week. They are putting on "The Sound of Music." Cassy is going to be Maria!!!! I am so excited for her. I hope that this year can be a GREAT one for her. I want her to enjoy her last year of High School!
