Helpless

I hate being helpless and dependent on other people.  Why is it so hard to shallow my pride and humble myself enough to ask others for help?

I discovered that I had no heat again today sometime this afternoon.  Dave had told me last week that if my heat didn't last to call him and he would come over with sandpaper and try it on the thermal coupler to see if that would help.... so I did.   After working on it for awhile, there was no luck.  The pilot light just would NOT stay lit.  I called High Country Heating.  He couldn't come until around 8 tonight though and it was getting rather cold in the house.  (Dave had brought over a heater they have and that was very helpful, but I knew it would be a long, hard night if I didn't get the heat restored.)

It turned out to be a former student's dad.  Mr. Richens felt that the problem was the snow on my roof.  It is so deep that it covered up the whole vent for the furnace.  He was able to use the dogrun fence to climb up on the garage and shovel around the vents so that the furnace will work again.  He had run out of invoices so took my email address so I don't know what I owe him yet... but I am thrilled to be toasty warm again.

Snowmen

 Snowmen on display

This year I placed the snowmen all on top of the piano.  I have a couple of new additions!

Happy Winter!
I'm going to miss these characters!  These are two of the young men that were in my Primary class!  Next week, they should be getting a new teacher and I will be getting a new class.

Christmas Night

I received a knock on the door.  I opened it to find the Lemmon girls singing "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" and bearing a poinsetta!  What a sweet surprise.

Ready for the day!

Christmas Eve 2010

Christmas eve is here! Here are scenes of the evening after dinner!

This year our theme was movies from the 60's!
The first clue of the evening was a blue cat........ the movie Cat Ballou! Pretty clever!
Look at the fish Mandy is holding ....

The movie is "The Incredible Mr. Limpet!"

First Mary unwrapped a mexican tv dinner..... she was a little confused!

Next came a "Guess Who" game.
The movie was "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner!" of course!

Mandy had her Dad confused with a heart pillow and then a message that needed to be decoded. Use your imagination we were told.

The movie James Bond, "From Russia With Love."

We started out with a deck of cards. Then opened up to a whole set of Poker chips........

"Oceans 11" was the movie Meg picked out!

Cassy opened up a pair of socks with musical notes all over them. Then came a Wells Fargo Wagon keychain and a trombone pin. These all represented the movie .........

"The Music Man!"

Meg opened up a boat..... We thought and thought ....
It was "The Wackiest Ship in the Army!"

I opened up a fishing pole and some fish! This represented ,,,,
