Happy New Year!

Video from  YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQt12P-YAig

Reading all day!

I just wrapped up in a blanket today and read.  I finished a book written by Rachel Ann Nunes today.  The title was "Eyes of a Stranger."  It was a nice read.  I enjoyed the opportunity to sit back and just read.  Those days don't come very often.

Fun things to do

Whenever you are next bored, or feel like being annoying, here are some cool things to do.  See what kind of reaction you get from those around you!!

At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.

Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice.

Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.

Put your garbage can on your desk and label it "IN."

Develop an unnatural fear of staplers.

Finish all your sentences with, "In accordance with the prophecy."

dont use any punctuation

As often as possible, skip rather than walk.

Specify that your drive-through order is "to go".

Sing along at the opera.

When the money comes out of the cash machine, scream "I Won! I Won! Third time this week!"

When leaving the zoo, run towards the parking lot, yelling "Run for your lives, they're loose!"

Pop some popcorn without putting on the lid.

When someone says, "Have a nice day," tell them you have other plans.

Put your toddler's clothes on backwards and send him to school as if nothing was wrong.

Read the dictionary backwards and look for hidden messages.

Bill your doctor for time spent in the waiting room.

Stare at people through the points of a fork and pretend they're in jail.

Make up a language and stop someone to ask for directions.

Start conversations with the words, "Did you ever wonder why..."

More around the house

This is a book case I have DVDs and videos in right by the bathroom and my guest bedroom. Most of the Precious Moment dolls my brother Dean gave to me.
You can see that my guest bathroom is butterflies!

In my living room, on one side of the windows is this gorgeous frame for the Living Christ document. (Marie gave me this.) On the other side is this cuckoo clock. (My brother John gave me this!)
This is my love seat and I have a matching couch.

Now you have seen a bit of my house!

Snowed in?

The snow kept piling up over Christmas and then the snow began to blow ..... With all the snowdrifts I didn't think I'd be going anywhere for a long while.

Oh, wait!  My wonderful neighbors came to my rescue.  They cannot know how grateful I am to them for taking such good care of me!

I actually can get my car out of the garage now!  Yahoooooooooooo!!!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The Christmas Sweater

I just finished reading "The Christmas Sweater"  by Glenn Beck.  Oh, what a good book.  It was a heartwrenching story that also makes you take a look at your own life.  It makes you question and decide if you truely know what is important to YOU!  I agree that it is a tale of family, faith and forgiveness.

I just found out that this was made into a play or movie.  There is a clip on YouTube about the story and how it came to life.

Good neighbors

Our good neighbors stopped by Christmas eve. Ralph & Sharon brought by some of their yummy caramel popcorn and a bear of honey.  Lee & Sally's family gave me more caramel popcorn, salsa, chips and a bowl to put them in, and the cute HOPE blocks you see in the picture above.  Jeff & Joan brought a plate of crackers with a yummy cheeseball.  Monsens gave a plate of goodies!  What cool neighbors we all have!

Look How Cute!

Look at how cute my new ornament is! This is from my favorite people in all the world. Don't you just love Winnie the Pooh? And look - he is reading with his loved ones!

On the box says:
Tigger likes stories with lots of adventure -
and Piglet says, "Read something funny!'
But Pooh always goes for a frolicsome tale about somebody finding some honey!

Around the House

These are some of my favorite scenes around my house.  Since many of them are Christmas items and soon to be taken done, I thought I'd post them as a remembrance for me.

This painting was painted by my cousin, Ann. Isn't she marvelous?
"Mary and baby" and the Nativity scene were both given to me by Beth.  They are both gorgeous!   Beth also made the pinecone basket in the pictures below.

The above pictures are from my living room.  You can't really tell in these pictures, but the village and the basket are lit up and very beautiful!

This is my dining room wall.  The apple mugs were given to me by my friend, Terri.

The wall on the hallway wall!  The beautiful temple was given to me by my brother, Frank, several years ago.

This is my guest bedroom! The bedroom set was my grandma and great grandma's set and then given to me when my mother passed away!  The cedar chest at the foot of the bed was my mothers.  The latch hook rug on top of it was made by my brother Dean!  The paintings were also done by my cousin!  Ann and Aunt Florence gave me the clock last Christmas.

Christmas gifts under the tree

Isn't my JOY nativity beautiful?  My good friends Earl and John gave that to me along with the electric scissors! Cool, huh?

See the comfy socks, the Smarter Than a 5th Grader game, the Winnie the Pooh ornament about reading?  They are all from the Gardners!  Also be sure to check out the Christmas runner underneath my Christmas basket, etc.  That also came from Gardners.  I think it is beautiful and I wish I could leave it out ALL YEAR!

More Christmas Day

It was snowing making the mountain passes impassable so the Gardners stayed home rather than traveling through the dangerous canyons.  Here are a few more pictures of the day:

The family has a gift exchange every year.  This year thetheme was "Movies."  All gift items had to somehow relate to a movie.

Without discussing their choices Father and daughter both picked the movie "Pillow Talk" and bought similar items - a pillow and a phone.  Ironically, in the exchange they ended up with each others' gifts!

Mary ended up with the gift she wanted: sparkling "wine," a whistle and a package of Scooby Doo bandaids.  Do you recognize the movie?  It is ...............................................................................................................................................

........................................................"Father Goose."

John ended up up with camo - of course representing MASH!  He has a camo blanket and pillow.  Oh, so comfy!

Meg has the cutest monkey and a jungle print throw - of course representing the movie "Tarzan."  Mandy has garden tools and seeds representing "Secret Garden."   Beth hit the jackpot with a bag full of chocolate for "Chocolat."  Yum!!!    Carol received some "cool" pillowcases and a couple bottles of HEET!  Those were from the story "CARS" of course.

I just loved those ears so you had to see them one last time!

Here's to the end of a good, long day!  Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Our Christmas 2008

Our Christmas Day.  The above is a "before" photo.  This is what the tree looked like
as the evening came to an end.  The following pictures show that Santa has arrived by morning!

On the right you see Santa's gifts for Mandy and Mary. On the left, we have Meg and Cassy's gifts from Santa.

The following pictures are of us all opening our gifts Christmas morning and having a great time!  Mary didn't even wake up sometime after 7am.  We were all shocked!

What a wonderful beginning to a special day!  What a marvelous thing - family and friends!
