I Love BYU Sports!

Growing up my family had Season tickets to BYU Football. Of all my sisters I loved to go to the games the most. Of course my brother loved to go to the games also. I always wanted to attend BYU and going to the games in my teen years just solidified this. The only place I applied to for college was BYU. I went to BYU and loved it!! I got married just before my senior year of college and because of working and money I couldn't afford to get tickets anymore. It didn't help that my husband really didn't like watching sports. So for years I only listened to the games on the radio or watched them on tv (when we finally got the MTN.) In the mean time Craig was going to school and working fulltime and I was busy with having four kids. When Zach was about 8 or 9 I decided that it was time to introduce him to BYU sports. Since Craig was gone all the time to either school or work season tickets weren't really an option, so once a year I would by tickets to a football game and Zach and I would go. It didn't take long for him to be hooked. Craig finally graduated and started working normal hours with no weekends so I was able to buy a couple of season football tickets with my parents. It didn't take long before Anna wanted go as much as Zach. When my parents couldn't go I would let the kids bring some of their friends to the game. (Craig is still not really interested in going.)

Last year BYU was doing pretty well in basketball also so I took Anna and Zach to a couple of games. They were hooked. There is an intensity with being in a building with 23000 people cheering on your team. Knowing that this was going to be a great year of basketball we decided to go to a few more games. Over Christmas break we went to 2 games. I just bought the cheap seats but we all were able to go. Even Craig came with us....He even bought himself a basketball T-shirt and shorts. Not really liking basketball (unless one of the kids is playing) he still could see that seeing Jimmer Fredette and Jackson Emery play in person was exciting. As conference play started the girls and I went to the Airforce game (Craig and Zach had scouting conflicts.) I had tried to pick a couple of season games that I thought would be really exciting. One happened to be the San Diego State game. Craig had scouts so me and my friend Alison took her son, my kids and one of Anna's friends to the game. It was like being at a rock concert. So much fun. The Marriot center was deafening. At one point I had to take Kayla out in the hall because her heart was racing. Of course we saw an amazing game. I decided that we wanted to go to one more game so I got tickets for BYU's last home game of the season against Wyoming. It was also sold out so we ended up on the very top row. I have posted some pictures that Anna took.

Getting ready for Team introductions

Top row! At least we had a back to lean against.

Timeout entertainment

With it being the last game the kids wanted to try and get some autographs of some of the players. Anna with Charles Abouo (not sure about the spelling)

This was as close as they were able to get to Jimmer and Jackson.

Zach with Noah HartsockAnna and Stephen Rogers So I have now created 2 BYU superfans....Anna as well as Zach were pretty much dressed head to toe BYU for most of basket ball season. Anna's bedroom door is a shrine to Jimmer Fredette....with pictures from the newpaper. Zach has all of the Sports Illustrated issues that even mentions Jimmer in it. It has been a really fun year to watch and we are sad it is over......can't wait for football season.

Alice in Wonderland

Anna has found another talent that she is really good at...acting. She discovered that she liked being in plays last year when she was in her school play. This year she tried out for the school play again but this time she got one of the leads in Alice in Wonderland. She was Cheshire cat #1. She did a great job and was very funny. My friend Megan and I took our girls to see the play.

She did a great job!

A New Sport

Zach has wanted to try playing basketball for several years now. The problem is that basketball starts in December and Christmas is alway very busy. This year we decided to work around basketball. Zach loved it. (He loves playing any sport) As you can see by these pictures it doesn't matter that he is the smallest kid on his team he can play with anyone.
Zach going for a layup I am pretty sure that Zach will be playing basketball every year...good thing it isn't the same time as soccer.

Amanda's Birthday and Gingerbread Houses

Amanda is seven. With having a birthday right around Christmas Amanda's birthday usually gets lump with other Christmas activities. This night it was the making of graham cracker houses.

Luckily she is still at the age that she loves getting so many presents around Christmas.

Here is the final product for this year. Anna refused to be in the picture because her house didn't turn out how she wanted it.

Pictures of the Process.
