Rough Week for Embassies in the Middle East

We appreciate all of the messages regarding our safety we have received over the past few days.  So far the demonstrations have remained peaceful here in Amman.  There have been demonstrations today near the embassy but they are non-violent for the time being.  This week does highlight the incredible resolve of diplomats and aid workers around the world.  Our hearts go out to those who suffered as a result of this week's tragedies.

"All over the world, every day, America’s diplomats and development experts risk their lives in the service of our country and our values, because they believe that the United States must be a force for peace and progress in the world, that these aspirations are worth striving and sacrificing for. Alongside our men and women in uniform, they represent the best traditions of a bold and generous nation...May God bless them, and may God bless the thousands of Americans working in every corner of the world who make this country the greatest force for peace, prosperity, and progress, and a force that has always stood for human dignity – the greatest force the world has ever known. " ~ Hillary Clinton, September 12, 2012

Happier news on the home front...

Owen started eating rice cereal, hanging out in the Johnny Jumper AND Dylan now takes the bus to school- big week for the Crombe kids too!

She doesn't look too happy but does love the bus.  When Ben went in to her school this week to drop something off, she made him follow the bus instead of take her to school, haha.

Owen's reaction to his first bite of rice cereal!

Dylan has her turn feeding him

Owen James is 4 months

                                                            Owen is four months old!

Our little guy is already four months.  I cannot believe how fast the time has gone since his arrival.  On the night before Owen's "four month birthday" Dylan said, "tomorrow O-dawg is going to starting walking and talking and we can do everything together."  Needless to say, she wasn't too thrilled when she woke up to find him rolling around his play-mat drooling and making ridiculous cooing sounds.  She is holding out for his five month birthday- she has big plans for that...

First Day of School

                                                   Dylan's First Day of School

Dylan started Kindergarten (Jordanian Kindergarten- they run the school calendar here differently, so this is more of pre-K for her) today.  She was so excited for school that she went to bed without her usual charade (water, more stories, not tired, need to go to the bathroom, too dark, too bright, too hot, you get the picture).  She woke up bouncing off the walls and even ran right in to her new classroom without hesitation.  I didn't get a great shot of her with her teacher because she was too concerned with getting over to the table to play with her friends.  She is going to the same school as last year (The Little Academy) and will have her day divided into Arabic and English lessons and lots of playing and singing.
