Big Brother Gifts

Since life is a big adjustment once a new sibling is born, I wanted to make sure Brayden, who is 4 years old, felt special during the 3 days we were gone at the hospital with his new baby sister.  I picked up a few small toys, sticker pads, coloring books...stuff from the dollar section at Target...and wrapped each gift for him to open each day.  I usually had one to open at home (noisy toys) and one for him to unwrap when he came to visit us in the hospital.  He was so excited each day to open his presents, and I know it showed him that Mommy and Daddy were thinking of him while we were gone.
The first day, I wrapped his Big Brother t-shirt for him to open when he came to the hospital.  We had a C-section planned, but I went into labor 2 days prior to the schedule day.  Luckily, on the way out the door, I grabbed this package for him to open once he came up to the hospital that night!

Karis' Room Decor

We are getting so excited and counting down the days until our baby girl is born!  We're down to less than a week, and we've finally got the room completely done and ready for her. We are scheduled for my C-section next Tuesday unless she decides to come early...which I would be completely fine with!  I am SO ready!

I painted the canvas for her room and
made the pinwheel mobile to go above her crib.
Above the changing table, I hung a cluster of frames and such.  I found this chalkboard at a garage sale and painted the edges, hung it from a cute pink ribbon and put a couple felt rosettes on the edge that I made.  It will be a fun thing to write on with fun messages, verses and events for Karis.  I also hung a frame that I took the glass out of, covered the backing in fabric and hot glued a clip onto the center, so I can clip up pictures.  Right now, our one pic of our little one is from her ultrasound.  Oh, how I can't wait to hang up a "real" picture of her!
 Karis at 20 weeks!

October __, 2012...when will it be?!
Above the dresser in her room, I got this great frame from IKEA and spray painted it pink. I covered the backing in light blue fabric and created this letter "K" out of foam board.  I covered the "K" in scrapbook paper and painted the edges to match the frame.
I found this free "You are my Sunshine" printable online.
I cannot remember where it came from, but I love it!
I printed it and got it matted to fit my frame.
Teddy Bear bank and wood frame that I got
at Michael's and painted pink...ready for her picture!
I found this raw wood circle plaque at Michael's and painted it red.  I saw these great felt flower tutorials for headbands...and made a couple for Karis...but then I decided to super-size it and make a felt flower to place on the plaque.  Once I finished the flower, I hot glued it onto the plaque and voila!  Ready to hang!
By the window, we have our rocker and a small side table and lamp.  Above it is 2 frames - the turquoise one from Hobby Lobby and the orange frame I made.  My amazing friend, Lyndsay, made a bow and headband holder for Karis' room.  It is amazing and fits in perfectly to her room.
Lots of handmade bows and headbands for Karis!
I can't wait!  Girl stuff is so fun!

We're ready for you, Karis!  Come on, baby girl!
