Deja Who?

For Christmas this year, my brother, sister and I recreated some pictures from our childhood as a gift to our parents.  It was a pretty hilarious process trying to recreate these pictures.  We made some good memories while we brought back some of our good old memories.

Karis' First Birthday Party

We had Karis' 1st birthday party a few weeks ago, and I am finally getting pictures up.  It was so much fun planning for a girl's party...all the frills and girly details were a blast to put together.
One of my favorite things to make for the party were the 'Cupcake Cupcakes'...it's a mini Reese's cup on top of the cupcake that is iced to look just like the cupcake it tops.  I made these chocolate chip cupcakes with this yummy buttercream icing.  Oh my.  Delish.  My mouth is watering just thinking about them.
Each month, I've taken pictures of Karis and how much she has grown.
It was so fun to put all these pictures together
and see how she has changed each month!
For the kids, I had small cups of Goldfish, Cheerios and Teddy Grahams.
The Rice Krispies were drizzled with pink-colored
white chocolate and, of course, some sprinkles!
Something I've done with both of the kids since birth was to layer their handprints each year to see how they've grown.  I put them in a frame backed with scrapbook paper and put their cutout handprint under the prior year's and label it with how old they were for that specific handprint.  I have loved seeing how they grow each year.  Big brother, Brayden, has birth through 5 year handprints, and Karis now has her birth and 1 year handprint.
Amazing how she has grown in one year!
I made Karis' party hat with scrapbook paper and crepe paper.  I used some sprinkles for the "1" adhered with Elmer's glue.  Karis didn't care to actually wear her party hat while she ate cake, but oh well!  Ha!
Birthday Girl's giant cupcake!
I made some scrap fabric bunting
for some added fun to her highchair.
The paper flowers were fun to make.  The idea came from
this cute blog.  I wanted to put these things everywhere!
As a little activity for the kiddos, they were able to make their own Fruit Loop necklaces.  I put out some embroidery thread (colorful...and it's what I had!) to use to string on their Fruit Loops.
Big brother had a fun time making his!
I just love these pinatas made for the little ones, because they just have to pull the strings. It makes it so much enjoyable for the babies who can't quite swing a bat...Daddy liked it a lot better too, because he didn't have to dodge each swing while holding the pinata!
Her first jewelry!  A bag of bangles.
A girl's gotta have her accessories!
Ready for cake!
...or not!
Big brother helped her blow out her candle.
She started out being dainty about it.
Then it was ALL IN!
Dig in there, girl!
Thanks for sharing...but no thanks!
For favors, I wrapped up animal crackers in
a small punch cup and made a little Chevron tag.

Happy 1st birthday, Karis!
