Down the memory path...!
I had made this picture frame, almost 10 years ago, using many scraps, yarns, bits & pieces of various textured, left over materials...you name it & its there..!
The tarred road is painted..the sides of the road are made from "khadi" fabric, from Indian cottage industries...it was a torn, worn out left over of my son's pajama..!
The gray skies, were also stained with a bit of water..cord used as creeper, leaves are made from tiny bits of starched silk....& a variety of stitches along the path, to hold the appliqued fabric, as well as, to depict wild flowers...
This picture frame was bought by my frame maker himself !Much later, when I wrote a book of memoirs ,in one of the Indian regional languages, this picture was used for the front page...!

A blouse.!
The blue colored blouse that I am wearing in the picture, is stitched out of one such piece of fabric, picked up by my daughter!
A very traditional fabric used, for blouses, particularly in the rural areas, where I live in India॥Maharashtra( the state where Mumbaee...Bombay..is)।
The nose ornament, that I am wearing is also very traditional in this region, except, for the size thats seen in the .....what I am wearing is smaller than the traditionally worn piece of jewelery !

My daughter the compulsive scrap collector.
My daughter, who has been a partner in crime as far as stashing & collecting fabric goes, is now selling the stunning & gargantuan fabric collection which she amassed over the past 1 year while in India.
So far, my Indian friends & I have been the lucky recipients of her finds.
She will be putting up the collection for sale after the 20th of March, once she has returned to the UK (Cambridge). However, she's put up pictures of her collection on her blog.
As a weaver & fiber artist, she has extensive knowledge of textiles & their availability, especially in India. Feel free to ask her for special requests or orders before the 27th of Feb 2009.
