I'm popping in with a card for Farm Quest General Store Challenge where I've been asked to be the guest designer for the day! Yeehaw! What an honor. This is a fairly new challenge and is so much fun. There's still time to enter for this current challenge so check it out!
I got a little bit country here - since that's always the theme of the challenge! I've used two images from Art Impressions, colored in Copics, cut out, and then mounted on a oval die cut of patterned paper. All of this was mounted on the wood looking background paper and then the sentiment was stamped with a very old one from Close to My Heart. Of course I just had to add that small die cut star and a bit of twine.
Head on over to the Farm Quest General Store Challenge Blog, check out all the rules for the Anything Goes card or project, and join in on the fun!
No card today and this post is actually mainly for me! In a couple of days it'll be my very first heart-iversary and I'm so thankful I'm here to write about it. I'm thankful to be alive and feel each and every day now is a blessing. Deep breath.........
Last year in April I went in for my annual physical type deal feeling on top of the world! I hadn't been sick, no crazy symptoms of any kind, and was in top notch health - or so I thought. They ran an EKG since I hadn't had one in about (cough) 10 years and they didn't like what they saw. Next step was the cardiologist. Long story short ...........
After a couple of tests I was scheduled for an angiogram. He didn't even get half way through that and threw my butt into a room saying they were going to do open heart surgery/bypass first thing in the morning! Ugh! This wasn't sounding good! Too long to go into all the details but I had open heart surgery/triple bypass that next morning, was in ICU for 16 days due some weird (and very scary) complications, in a rehab facility for two weeks, back home, and then in an outpatient rehab for three months.
It was a very long road to travel - and still is. There are really good days and really dark days. The dark days are the ones where I have to force myself to get up out of bed and move. Well, DUH!!!! Of course, some days are dark......I mean come on.......They go in and saw your sternum apart, termporarily stop the heart, slice your leg open to get all kinds of cute little extra veins or something, do all kinds of weird things with that to repair the heart, get your heart beating once again, wire you back up.... and say you're good to go! Lordy me - but so amazing! The good days are starting to outnumber the bad days a little bit now so that's good I guess.
It's just a very special time for me so, I'm celebrating for the next few days - and as long as I can after that too! One day at a time........ but for now.......the beat goes on..........
Thanks for stopping by........and keep smiling!

Rambo would be very upset if he knew I was posting a picture of a cat. To him, cats are to be chased and barked at - kinda like a squirrel ....although when he was really little, his best friend was our cat named Black (such an original name).
Anyway, this is a very old stamp from Stampin' Up. I had this out the other day working on a different card and every time I'd look at this I'd start laughing. It's very simple I know but with a sentiment like this you really don't need to do much else for the card.
The Alphabet Challenge is C - for cat - and I'll enter it in their challenge.
Thanks for stopping by........and keep smiling!

Here's a couple using stamps from Aall & Create (sentiments from Art Impressions).
On this first one I used some background wavy paper from Paper Studio and then some polka dot vellum. On the circle I lightly stamped some marks with an old SU stamp, added the sentiment, and tucked in some flowers on the side. I'll enter this in the challenge over at Sketch Saturday (sketch).
Winnie the Pooh that is! What's not to love about little Pooh - and Piglet too. I had to splurge not too long ago and got a couple of the Pooh stamps from Unity - and do love them. They're just so much fun to look at. This one was colored in Copics and then mounted on some Unity patterned paper. The sentiment is from Newton's Nook. I haven't used pearls on anything in a long time and they just looked cute on here so I slapped a few of those on there.
I think I only have one birthday for someone coming up this month so I went ahead and made a card for her. I'm so good at making the cards and yet so bad at mailing them. Sometimes if I have a bunch to do for the month I'll mail them all on the first no matter what day their birthday is. Pretty awful I know. I'm really going to try and time this one though so it's received on her actual birthday (as if that could really happen with the postal system)!
